  • The Puerto Rican Parrot is an endemic species critically endangered. In the 1970s, there were only 13 Puerto Rican parrots left, prompting a collaborative effort between state and federal agencies to bring the parrot back from the brink of extinction. They remain critically endangered, but thanks to these conservation efforts, today there are over 600. At the Río Abajo Aviary, they use reintroduced Iguacas as “tutors” for parrots scheduled for release into El Yunque.
We feel so proud to support these efforts through our campaign for the Puerto Rican Parrot Recovery Program. You can help support these conservation efforts by donating here: givebutter.com...
Grateful to Tanya Martinez, Project Leader of the Puerto Rican Parrot Recovery Project, Lisa Faust, Senior Director of Population Ecology del Lincoln Park Zoo and the staff for showing us their important work.
