Beautiful Shacket Michelle and I totally agree with all of the modifications you would do if making again. But truth be told, this one looks awesome on you! Great job lady! 🤗
It looks stunning on you! I love the colour combo and the added cuff detail. And the label on the placket is such a great idea. Those labels are so cute, they deserve to be seen. 💞
Looks great! You're totally right about needing a jacket here.... and the longer you live here the more you'll feel that need when it gets cold. It's supposed to be chilly again at night at the end of the coming week.
Thanks so much Michelle! I think I'm going to start by removing one and seeing if that looks better. Someone else suggested moving them to be tone on tone. I'll try that next. If neither of those options work, I'll try smaller then none haha! I'll make it perfect yet!!
@@MichelleSewsAgain looking forward to seeing what you come up with.. definitely the first shacket I've liked and could see myself wearing.. I'm only 5'3" myself and have worried about it being to overwhelming.. but the color makes a huge difference
Absolutely ADORE the bands on the sleeves! Great save! Everything thing about your shacket is fab! One of my fave makes of yours, so far! 🤩Can’t wait to see you soon! 💜
This jacket is darling !!! Love the unique back yoke... the colors are great... I think I would not have liked the extra large pocket either but from looking at your pictures I think they draw attention away from your bust n to the pockets which are a novel size... the yoke is oversized too so they seem to balance each other !!! Love that are downsizing the new makes... I really think one of the keys to getting a great fit is understanding the intended ease n what we personally like... great make !!! Bravo 👏...
Love, love your version of this jacket and agree the cuffs represent an “upgrade. I also always line pockets - my tip is to cut the lining a tiny bit smaller so it doesn’t show. I’m also in agreement that the pockets are a bit large. I think if I make it I will either color block the actual pocket or make it a bit smaller. Oh, and Zim so clad you cut a size 20. Perfect! Another win.🎉
Thank you so much for the tip about the pocket lining! I'll definitely start doing that going forward!! I'm going to change the patch pockets in stages haha. I'm going to try going to just one. If I still don't like it, someone suggested switching them so they are tone on tone. So I'll give that a try. If I still don't like it I'll make them smaller. If that doesn't work I'll just take them off!! I'll keep trying though because this is really a great little jacket! Thanks so much Barbara!!
Great jacket, Michelle! Love the colours you chose. Very happy piece🤩 I love the Logan. Have made it twice, once in fleece and once in lightweight denim. Freaking love them both. Considering a corduroy one now🙄🫣 perfect piece for NY autumn and spring! Thanks for your review. Always enjoy hearing others’ experiences of patterns I love!
Haha - isn't it funny how that goes? I've seen a couple of patterns made up recently that I wasn't interested in either until I saw how fabulous they could be! I'm so happy you like mine!! 💕
Hi Michelle - this was a great review. I have been thinking about making this shacket for awhile now. I liked the information about the amount of ease and the size you picked. Very helpful. One of the things I was debating was putting on the oversized pockets at the top. I was not particularly fond of the look. I too am short. 5'1". So it would overwhelm me. I always smile when people discuss pattern instructions today. So different from when I started sewing 50+ years ago. There were no indie pattern companies like today. And the big 4 rarely say anything about finishing your seams. You just had to know to do that or left them unfinished. 😉Today, people who sew have different expectations with pattern instructions than years ago. Someone taught you what to do or you learned by trial and error. Not from pattern instructions. So fascinating to me. Times do change. Take Care!
Hi Janiece! I'm glad you found the pattern review helpful! I enjoyed reading your view on pattern instructions. I have heard that before! I can't remember what the instructions (or lack of) were like when I was sewing in the 80's. So I guess I do have higher expectations!
Cute shacket and good size Michelle. I know you like SA patterns but I am steering clear of them. I’ve been sewing for a very long time and still forget certain steps. At 71 I need lots of hand holding when I sew. I guess that’s why I enjoy making quilts.
Thanks Claudia! I can understand your reason for avoiding Style Arc - many people feel the same way! I just love their style so much and now I'm used to their instructions so I'm usually able to muddle through haha!
Michelle this is such a great vlog, and your Logan is so lovely! I agree with everything you have said about the pattern and your style feature around the cuffs is genius and I’m am going to do something similar as I think it looks great. Never heard of lining patch pockets before but think that’s a great idea too. Thank you for sharing x
Thanks so much Adele! I do have to tell you that I think the twin top stitching elevates the finished look a little. I would encourage you to at least test it on some scraps before making your final garment to see how you like it! 🧵 Someone made a great suggestion to me for lining the patch pockets - if you're going to do that, cut your lining a smidge smaller than your top fabric. That way. you won't have the lining peeking out from the side like I had 😊
Lovely make Micelle! You look so happy wearing it. And a great thought on the sleeve cuffs, really does complete the look. Just the other day I looked up at the top shelves in my closet where just some of my previous fall and winter clothes have lives since we moved from NC (and before that NJ, so I have cold weather clothes!) and none of them seem right now that we are in Melbourne FL…so I understand completely about not needing layers. If you find Lacey fabric or sheer that calls you, that might be an option since you nailed the fit you like on this one. Ice dyed silk is another option..and congrats too on getting more items on you to- sew list in your wardrobe. Thanks for sharing! Chris in FL
Wow that jacket looks sensational on you. You really nailed it size wise. I have that in my cart at the moment as part of their buy 3 get one free promo. I always use the finished size measurements to decide the size and after seeing it on you (I have a 45” bust measurement) will definitely size down. I do not find their instructions a problem mostly - I don’t usually follow them until I need to😂. Sometimes that can cause problems.
Love your shacket! it was a happy accident cutting the sleeves a little short. I am going to participate in jacket January. I am going to make the Molly Jacket. I think I am going to use a navy double gauze for one side and a pretty floral for the inside. I know I am a little late in the season for making a jacket, but I think the Molly would look great as a layer piece at work if we have a cool day and will be good for the Sewing and Quilting Expo. I was very tempted to use a Ruby Star Society Canvas Linen blend in a blue green with tigers, but decided I want something that will go with the things I am planning on making this month. Maybe Molly II will be more fun!
Oh I'm so happy to hear you're making the Molly Jacket! It's definitely a favorite of mine! Your fabric choices sound so pretty - I can't wait to see it!
So cute, I love the two colors you picked. Style Arc has so many great patterns, I always feel like I have really accomplished something when I’v finished one of their patterns, because of the sparse instructions, I feel so smart 🤔.
it looks like you got a great fit! the pockets are the main reason why i didn't buy the logan--i just thought they would look comically oversized on me. i know it's a nitpicky thing but it makes a big difference in the look. i like the idea of adding just 1 pocket--seems like it would look more like an accent and less overpowering.
I really like your fabric choice for the shacket! Cute color blocking too. I think a red on red and orange on orange patch pocket would have made them seem less prominent. I really enjoy your ideas/videos.
I always shy away from collar stands because I’ve never had nice-looking results. Since you didn’t mention it and one of your commenters didn’t mention it, it must not have been an issue. It’s just seems like thick outerwear fabric would be a nightmare in such a small place. Do you have any hints you can share on how you did it? Btw, my name is Linda, not Jack….
Hi Linda! I didn't find the collar stand to be an issue. I did not interface it since the fabric was already on the thicker side. My only tip is to take it slow and make sure that you have the notches aligned properly. When my collars were coming out wonky it was almost always due to not having the notches lined up!
Michelle, your jacket looks so nice on you and the colors are just right. Wear it in good health. 🙂❤🙂
Thank you Maureen 😊
I love this!!! I love when you said "I want the jacket to be as fun as the clothes underneath" I love that!!! Your jacket looks amazing!!
Thanks so much Kris! I love fun clothes 😊
Beautiful Shacket Michelle and I totally agree with all of the modifications you would do if making again. But truth be told, this one looks awesome on you! Great job lady! 🤗
Thank you so much Myra 💕
Michelle I love your kale shirt and your new shacket. Very tempted 💕
Thank you so much Jane! The shacket is a good layering piece!
Beautiful jacket enjoy wearing it Micheal❤
Thanks so much💕
Lovely jacket. Your a lovely sewist. And my that blouse fabric is unreal. Love it.
Thank you so much Moira!
It looks stunning on you! I love the colour combo and the added cuff detail. And the label on the placket is such a great idea. Those labels are so cute, they deserve to be seen. 💞
Thank you so much Izzy! 💕
The jacket has come up lovely, looking good. Cheers Mary
Thanks so much Mary!
Your shacket is absolutely lovely on you... Well done 👏👏👏👏
Thank you!! 😊
Love the color blocking. It adds so much to the jacket.
Thank you!!
Looks great! You're totally right about needing a jacket here.... and the longer you live here the more you'll feel that need when it gets cold. It's supposed to be chilly again at night at the end of the coming week.
Haha - yes, you are so right! The longer I'm here the thinner my skin gets 🤣
Luv this jacket.. looks so cosy 😊.. I do agree with the pockets.. I think smaller ones would look a bit better.. but it still looks great!
Thanks so much Michelle! I think I'm going to start by removing one and seeing if that looks better. Someone else suggested moving them to be tone on tone. I'll try that next. If neither of those options work, I'll try smaller then none haha! I'll make it perfect yet!!

I really like the way your shacket turned out. It looks so lovely on you.
Thank you so much!
I am very impressed, Michelle. Nice Jacket!! I like the style of it and looks like it was a good fit. Great job!!
Thanks so much Deb!!
Absolutely ADORE the bands on the sleeves! Great save! Everything thing about your shacket is fab! One of my fave makes of yours, so far! 🤩Can’t wait to see you soon! 💜
I thought of you when I made the sleeve bands - it seemed like a solution you would come up with! Thank you Andra! Can't wait to see you!!
Love it Cuz! That curved yoke in the back is awesome. I also like the sleeves, the perfect fix.
Thanks so much Lavada!! 😊
Your shacket looks fabulous. Love the colour, love the fit and love those sleeve bands.
Thanks Margaret! I'm really happy with it 😊
Hi michelle - your jacket is fabulous and you look great in it!
Thank you so much😊

Oh n great save on the sleeves... extra color blocking a plus ➕️

Thank you so much!!
Hello Michelle,
Wow! Your jacket is gorgeous and definitely fits you well! It looks like leather in the video.
Thanks Debbie! Oooh - a leather version could be really cool!
I love your jacket and the colors are wonderful. 😊
Thank you so much! 💕
This is a perfect pattern for NY - I'm glad to hear you are also happy with yours 😊
Ah yes i like that sizing on you. You did a great job on the color blocking. Great review.
Thank you so much! 💕
Really love your shacket. The color blocking is beautiful and the label is cute. I like where you put it
Thanks Mari 💕
I was not even interested in the logan until I saw your make now, I want one as well. Lol, it is beautiful.

Hi Michelle.. Thanks for the review.. I have yet to make it. I need it for Spring in Canada Great job ..
Thanks Cindy! It's a great jacket for Spring!!
Such a great make! 🎉 It’s solids, so maybe that’s your version of a neutral
Ha! True! I didn't think of it that way but you are probably spot on 🤣 Thanks so much!!
Cutest jacket ever! I definitely want to make one this season!
Oh thank you! Have fun with it!!!
Great job on your shacket

Your hearts always make me smile 😊
it looks like you got a great fit! the pockets are the main reason why i didn't buy the logan--i just thought they would look comically oversized on me. i know it's a nitpicky thing but it makes a big difference in the look. i like the idea of adding just 1 pocket--seems like it would look more like an accent and less overpowering.
Maybe I'll try pulling one off and see how that looks. I'll let you know!!
I really like your fabric choice for the shacket! Cute color blocking too. I think a red on red and orange on orange patch pocket would have made them seem less prominent. I really enjoy your ideas/videos.
Good suggestion on switching the pockets to the tonal side - maybe I'll give that a try! I appreciate it - thanks so much!

Great make. Or drop the pockets down
Thanks Sharon! That's a good thought about the pockets - I'm definitely going to play around with them to see what works for me.
