- I've wanted to take a closer look at the Fairburn Yard for a while now. There are several interesting industries nearby as well. And I chased one of the intermodal trains down to Newnan. Loading and unloading stacks is not as fast as you would think.

Excellent ! I recall when this facility was built. Very enlightening video......that crane is being moved with great precision ! The drone even picked up the sound of the cars crossing the Norfolk Southern (ex Central of Georgia Ry) diamond right beside the ancient A&WP RR coaling tower at Newnan.
The audio is recorded on my iPhone and mixed in.
It was fun documenting the process.
very nice 😀
I'm seeing BNSF GEs in the CSX intermodal yard CSX has definitely been having BNSF engines on their 🚆 alot.
Excellent video and good job with the audio capture and syncing.
Great video 👌
Nice
awesome!
Amazing video. 🚂🚂🇮🇳🚂🚂🚂
This is awesome! It really does look animated at parts. Any idea what time it was around that that train with the BNSF locomotives was building or departing ? I’d like to catch it some day when I’m up there.
This was at the start up of the widespan cranes. We are alot faster now and alot more freight.
Hello from Germany, thank for this super Video. Great...please tell me the name of the City...thats great area.
The Fairburn yard is south of Atlanta, GA as is the town of Newnan.
Is that coaling tower at Newnan?
Yes an old coaling tower.
Where is this located like city/state
Fairburn, GA
Great Video but how in the world did you get that close to CSX's property without getting chased off or ticketed for tresspassing because they are real sticklers about railfans getting close to their property and videotaping.
I was never on railroad property. The air space above the ground does not belong to the railroad. It’s controlled by the FAA. If property owners owned the air above their properties it would be trespassing for aircraft to fly over them. And it’s not illegal to photograph railroad property as long as you are not standing on it. Ever shoot trains from a bridge over railroad property? It’s not illegal. You can fly over a railroad yard in a plane and shoot all you want. Not illegal. If you have questions about drone operations check out the FAA website.
@@HotspotsSoutheast thanks for your reply like I already stated Great Video really enjoyed watching it.
No problem. It’s hard to convey ideas on social media without them being taken wrong. I was just being factual. The FAA has some strange rules that don’t make sense sometimes. For example it may be illegal to take off from within a state park but it is not illegal to fly over a state park. Why? I guess they don’t want noisy drones flying down low and disturbing animals or people in the park. For example I flew over the town of Thurmond which is in the middle of a state park. You can not take off from within the state park. But people live there in the town. You can take off from someone’s home or business there but not from the park which surrounds them. Try to figure that out. There’s a railroad that goes through the park. Don’t tell me that’s not noisy! :)
Some of the footage looks animated.
