Chris - FYI why you didn't hear the "clickedy clack" and the ride is so smooth: This is because most track with any significant traffic is now continuously welded rail. Instead of the rail being an insane number of 39 foot plugs that are all bolted together, rail comes from the shop in 1482 foot strings and these strings are then welded together. This allows for greater train speed due to the smoother ride.
Cool to know, honestly ;)
I'm from Europe and I have to say it's probably the ONLY video I've found about someone offering a public transportation or walker / non driver walk-through to get to a theme park. Thank you!
I don't think you understand the amount of anxiety this video had lifted off my shoulders with my upcoming disneyland and Universal Trip. THANK YOU
There are a lot of RUclips people trying to do what you do, but nobody comes close in variety, quality and likability. Thanks for keeping your channel fresh and interesting. Subway go-go.
I've always been scared of public transportation. Thanks for sharing all that and making it look 'not scary', haha.
Even though I’ve taken the red line to universal many a time and the metro link almost every holiday to visit family. It is still cool to see it through another person’s POV. Shows that LA has public transportation.
Subway go go! Tokyo's metro system is a sight to behold, and I wish we had such an extensive system like that here in the states. You can pretty much go anywhere in the city by train. Super convenient, efficient, and clean!
Thank you for highlighting public transit in one of your episodes. I'm a transit nerd as much as a Disney one, and I always appreciate when the two merge together.
What's sad is that the usa used to have a better system than Japan's. Our rail system from the 1920s are still unmatched by the rest of the modern world system. The car industry bought all of these transit systems and destroyed them so we had to use cars. In fact, this is the reason LA has so much traffic, it was designed for trains and electric rails! It's sad but we can totally do it again.
Cool fun video. Good example of how to use public transit in LA with a little bit of planning. Well done.
Glad you liked it!
We took Amtrak from central California up to Portland Oregon a few years ago to see our daughter graduate from culinary school. I agree the ride was very smooth. They loaded me up in my power wheelchair and it was smooth sailing from there. It was SOOOOO nice not having to worry about traffic and just being able to watch the view. If you haven't tried it, I fully suggest doing so!
Same for us French. Cuz it’s relaxing and not stressful. Just look out the Windows and enjoy the view
Im from Paris France and Ive been taking the metro since I was kid
Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner also stops in Anaheim near Angels Stadium, so if you're at Disneyland or staying near the park there's a bus that can take you across Katella to the RTIC (Anaheim regional Transit Intermodal Center).
With the Surfliner: if you are disabled, the lower carriage has a large bathroom that can accommodate an electric wheelchair. If you're going up top- a regular coach seat is all about availability. It's first-come-first-served. But, the Business Class has a reserved seat. (It doesn't have a seat number, but your seat is guaranteed).
The subway card is $2.00 and the fare to ride it $1.75. So, when you buy your card for the first time with a one-trip fare it's $3.75.
Walking up the hill to Universal is kinda brutal if you're not ready for it. Take the shuttle and walk back down.
You can also get a virtual TAP card through the app. My Mom and I rode the train from the Chatsworth Station to the Anaheim station and back for a day at the Disney parks. We got off at the Anaheim station, went across to the ART Center and caught the appropriate shuttle to Disneyland. It dropped us off right up front by the stroller rental.
Yeah, I was wondering why Chris didn’t just leave out of the ARTIC station in Anaheim 🤔 I believe that the ART Shuttle to and from the park is free with your train ticket.
@@SweetCarolineS Your shuttle ride is free. All you have to do is show the driver your train ticket.
Subwaygogo. I love Subways. I used to ride it in São Paulo to go to school. So, whenever I have an opportunity to ride the train and Metro in the OC/LA area, it brings so much nostalgia and sense of freedom.
What a clever idea. Good job PPP! Useful information that isn't a repeat of everything already covered 😊
Subway Go Go! I commute through the Link Light Rail to work in Seattle three days a week. The rest of my time is focused on RUclips. Our subway is outside most of the time but it does go through a few tunnels and underneath the Westlake Mall. It runs from Angle Lake To Northgate, WA
Never knew about this choice subway go go...yep London, Paris, Rome ,Tokyo, New York, and DC. and a few more.
You and your shoes 👞 👟 shots..🤣🤣🤣 You keep the videos entertaining! 😁
You were in our neck of the woods! Great coverage on public transportation. We enjoyed learning more about you. Don't shut the door on Zeros. So many networks out there now... We can't wait for your full tour of USH 😎
0:13 Just an FYI. For the hotel you were at a Lyft over to Anaheim ARTIC Station for the Metrolink would have been a shorter and cheaper ride than Fullerton.
Also if you ride Metrolink instead of Amtrak the Physical ticket can transfer on to the Red Line for free once you hit Union and the ticket itself is cheaper than Amtrak.
I ride public transit a lot and even take the redline to work myself :)
We did this a month ago!!! And we also used the ART on demand feature from our hotel for two people to the ARTIC!
Anaheim has 2 different metrolink stations, Anaheim Canyon and ARTIC
Good to know. Thanks
Very helpful and informative Chris. Once Nintendo World opens, a whole lot more Disneyland fans will make the trek to Universal to go check it out.
SUBWAY GO 🇬🇧 GO! London Underground, baby!!! Thank you for showing us the LA area transit! Awesome info 😁❤️
Subway Go Go ! I wasn't expecting those groovy shoes!
Subway GoGo!!!! With an epic Uh-Oh story in New York haha!
Subway GoGo! Another fun video, and I am envious of how far you got with your TV pitch!
Subway Go Go! London and Paris loved riding them such a great way to get around😊
I have no idea what makes this video so enthralling to watch.
Maybe it’s the genuine excitement and wholesome experience.
Either way, great video!
Subway go-go
New York
London tubes
On the NJ transit trains, they also say “mind the gap” at every stop!!
Another fun vlog! Thank you! ❤️
Hey Chris great video. Can you please tell me exactly how long it took you to get there? What time did you leave and what time did you arrive at the park. I really would appreciate it thanks!!
You should do a trip from Disneyland to Knott‘s Berry Farm. It’s only a one quick bus ride. MTA’s route 460 gets onto interstate 5, then exits at the 91 Junction. From there it travels about 1.5 miles to Knott’s. Total commute time about 31 minutes.
-The Disneyland Neighbor
Subway: go go!! NYC many times, and DC twice. Loved DC’s!! Thanks for sharing your fun travels!!
yes! I was planning a trip to universal using the metro, now I know about the tram up the hill, how cool! Thank you!
Subway Go Go! I've ridden the subway and Metro in LA, NYC, Philly, Boston, DC, Chicago, SLC, SF, Seattle, Portland, San Diego, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Taipei, Tokyo, Paris, London, Madrid, and Barcelona! I love trains!!
Unbelievable 🙌 the day I decided to add a Universal Studios Hollywood day to our Disneyland Resort Anaheim stay you literally enforce our decision with this video 😅
Do yourself a favor. Though it’s a little more expensive do the universal VIP tour. So worth it.
Yeah I also watched Adam the Woo s Vlog yesterday and this is definitely an option to consider 🙌
@@laurentscholtes8770 we did the tour in 2019. It was more than his highlights. So worth it.
Chris, you have so many interesting "layers" to you like an sweet Vadalia onion. Didn't know you wrote for SciFi. The ride to LA is on continuous welded rail track. It's nearly 1/2 mile of track before an expansion joint (that's why it's butter smooth.) Disneyland railroad has joints closer together & not welded. Hence the clickty CLACk! Wherever I hear of trains in LA, Anaheim, I think of the gag + real city Cucamonga as quipped by voice actor Mel Blanc. Glad you got to ride the "high IRON" Getting you smoothly safely to your destination.
Subway go-go. First every for me was in Washington DC. So nice and clean and you are correct on the cleanliness.
Subway Go Go! I’ve ridden Dallas, NYC, Washington DC, Paris and Munich!!! 😎 Trains too! 🚊
Subway Go Go. I ride the red line occasionally for fun, and I go to downtown Los Angeles sometimes!
Subway GOGO!!! I have had the good fortune to ride subways in Toronto, Montreal, London ,Paris and Athens its a great way to get around and really get to know a city!!!!
Subway go go! Love subways and mass transit in general! I used to take trax and front runner every day to work pre pandemic.
Subway go go! Seoul, Washington DC, Chicago, San Francisco. Love these vlogs Chris!!
That was awesome! I love public transportation like this... except busses. haha (psst--subway go go!)
Thank you for this! I am in Los Angeles almost once a month and I never look forward to the drive from Disneyland to Universal and then from Universal to my sister's. I've taken public transportation a lot! Especially to and around San Francisco! And I've mentioned doing this a few times but have yet to do it so I am now inspired to follow through. Thank you!
So, did you finally ride the LA public transportation?
We did! We have actually taken it a few times now since this video. Union Station was a lot to get used to and then we just trained out of Anaheim Amtrak station. We also took the bus from Union Station to L.A.X. which was awesome. Public transportation once and then the Fly Away bus. We'll be back to using it again next weekend.
@@minglewiththecringles So it was safe? Me and the family plan to be down in a couple of weeks, we are staying at universal studios but thinking about taking public transportation to Disneyland. But I don't want to take public transportation it's not safe
Thanks
We have felt 100% safe. We do not have small children with us but we are parents and had used public transportation when the kiddos were little throughout San Francisco, Sacramento and in the Disneyland area. Personally We feel that it is a wonderful experience for kids. I would just try to do your traveling in the Hollywood area during daylight, have plenty of phone charge and a portable charger on hand just incase and have your route laid out. Have so much fun!
Metrolink looks like it’s also going to LA at this time of day, Metrolink is about half of the price of Amtrak. Maybe not as luxurious but still works just as well :) by the way! I love seeing you taking the train! I do it every week!
Metrolink is the commuter line.
Chris!! I LOVE this!! Thank you!! How long did it take door to door? Like 2 hours? Next trip to Cali we are sooooo doing this! Will the return be just as easy? ❤️
I LOVE THE HDR VIDEO!!!
It looks so dynamic!! Well done!!
Subway no no. I love the Warriors tie in to the subway. I also think about Crocodile Dundee ending scene as well! Love these “in between” vlogs.
Subway Go Go...technically.... I rode on Seattle's under ground bus line, back in the early 90's.
This was awesome! I always fly into SNA when I go to Disneyland, stay near Disneyland, and never rent a car. This year I purchased my first Universal Studios AP. It took us just under two hours to drive there on my last visit. Now I can hardly wait to try this option. I love public transportation information it just seems so much more efficient, is always adventure, and allows me to feel less like a tourist. Thanks Chris!
Great tips! We’ve taken the Metrolink from the Inland Empire to Union Station, then to Universal. So much better than driving! Also, at Union Station, is the Flyaway Bus that takes you to LAX, so convenient!
YES!!!! I would love to see the pilot! I understand it would be hard to watch. But how cool for you to have done that!
Thank you so much for this video. It's exactly what I needed for planning my upcoming vacation.
Subway no no...... Btw I really enjoyed this video, actually I enjoy all your vids 😀
Subway Go Go! They are a lot of fun to ride. Great video might have to try that next time I’m in Anaheim and want to go to a Universal studios
In Glasgow, Scotland, the subway is called the “U” (underground) and it smells like Pirates of the Caribbean
Subway go-go. Always a fun and informative video. Thanks!💖
Subway GO-GO! I was trying look through to see the trend of comments because I feel like most people would have taken the subway! Wish this was a pole! Lol GREAT video!! We feel so honored to have been with you on your first Amtrak ride!!! ❤️ Elizabeth & Alex
Subway go go. Our family went to New York in 1986 for the Statue of Liberty’s 100th birthday and we rode a few subways in the city. Great memories…
Beautiful brown skies..... I love LA.
This is exactly the video I’m looking for! Thank you 🙏🏻
Subway no-no
Sadly, Subway No-No. Train travel is my favorite! Sometimes, I have to drive or fly, but train is always my first choice. Thanks, Chris!
Subway Go Go! Thank you for this! I had the best time watching!
Subway no-no. Lol
But I absolutely LOVE riding Amtrak. Business class provided outlets at every seat AND complimentary drinks and snacks. Beautiful ride (past the beaches, not downtown LA 😅) and so relaxing
I love rail travel!!!! Subway Go Go! And would Love to see the trailer!!!!
SubwayGoGo!! Lives in NYC for a year. Lives in Queens, commutes to Brooklyn on the #7 line. LOVED it!!
Subway Go Go! Subways are a lot of fun and a lot faster than the buses. Thank you for bringing me on this journey with you Chris! Universal Citywalk looks like fun and I've always been wanting to go to that area. I went to Universal Studios Hollywood once before the pandemic and it was a whole different experience like no other. The attractions are so insane and I really like that they start with a walkthrough leading up to the ride and then you get to the main show. Universal is the next step up from Disney and they have a rivalry.
Subway no no, I'm loving your vlogs Chris! Can't wait for your full Universal Studios tour!
Hehehe glad that you enjoyed taking the public transportation like subways. Washington DC London, UK and my capital Paris, France
Be careful riding the Metro Red Line (subway) at night. Be sure you head the right direction! And don''t accidently board the Purple Line, which share a few stations. There tend to be a lot of transients in the subway stations and on the subway trains. Last time I rode, one transient had smashed a bottle on a fellow transients head. Blood and a mess all over the platform. Luckily two police officers arrived to deal with the mess. Haven't been on the Red Line since.
Keep your eyes open and Stay safe!!!
p.s. - Subway Go Go
Yeah. I grew up in Los Angeles and I am fortunate enough to have never been on any public transit there. LA is simply not a safe place for most people to be riding trains and buses, in my opinion.
In Chicago, Boston, etc I’ve had no issues with subways or buses because it’s much more common for people from all walks of life to use those modes of transit.
Is it safe to ride in the day?
@@MeganmamaI grew up in LA and have ridden public transit since I was in junior high and have had no problems. You seem paranoid.
@@johntovar89yes, it is safe, but be smart too and you'll be fine.
Subway GoGo!! Washington DC and BART in the Bay Area. AND, on Tuesday, because of your video, from Riverside CA to Universal studios through Union Station and the red line. 💞💕
Just curious how late do each of the subways trams etc. run? I mean could I do this in the am and ride back after Universal closes l, will everything be open to get back to DL? Thanks great video.
Subway Go Go! NYC...Coming from Australia, that was a fantastic informative video, thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks Chris
Thought this video would be boring but turned out pretty interesting. The train looks pretty nice, much better than any I've ever taken and maybe worth a ride the next time I'm there. Subway go go, and I did mind the gap!
Subway gogo! My sister & I used to ride the NYC subway for fun all the time before the pandemic! :D It was especially fun during Christmas time as they would older subway cars on & you could ride in an antique car! :D So much fun! And sometimes people would come on & entertain us! :D Sadly, things aren't as nice as they used to be, but hopefully things'll go back to normal as it was always an adventure! :D
I've also ridden Amtrack a couple of times to go visit my sister when she lived in New Hampshire! That was fun too! :D
Also, I LOVE your tie, Chris!! :D
Chris, awesome tie for this video. It was interesting to learn that your a writer. I find a blank page to be a little overwhelming. Subway no no.
This is the perfect video for my questions 😂
Subway go-go! Got some good memories traveling around Auckland, New Zealand; London, England; and from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Singapore. SUPER HELPFUL video, Chris. Will be filing this away for future reference. Thanks for the work you do!!
Subway Go GO!!!! I will say I enjoy it while in Korea, so convenient. I will say you should do one from the LAX to Disney.
Subway go go. I've thought about doing this so often, so glad you showed it.
Subway Go Go! Several years ago in Washington DC. I've also been on the EL trains in Chicago several times.
Subway Go Go! Thanks for this useful video.
I love your tie. Lol here in Toronto we have a subway and the Go Train which is like your Metrolink
Subway Go Go. I live in the Los Angeles area and have done the same public transit trip as you but from the Gold Line , Pasadena area to Universal Studios. The RedLine can be a bit shady but overall fun trip
Subway GOGO! I love the DC metro!
Subway go go in the Underground London. Love your videos. It brightens my day. Thank you.
Subway NoNo. That was really helpful for those that dont drive.
Some so glade to see how you guys came I been here since day one. You guys are amazing and full of joy!!!!!!
Subway Go Go!
D.C., New York, Boston, & Montreal Love a good subway!
Enjoyed the heck out of this one
Looked pretty easy! I forget there’s metro in LA. Subway go-go!! Thanks PPP!!
FYI Chris it’s called the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner but it’s a great job you took the train keep it up 👍🏻 Walt would be proud
Subway go go. Loved this video.
Subway go go. Enjoyed the comments about this segment of our local LA transit system, and transit systems across the globe. I'm familiar with Frankfurt am Main & Berlin Germany. London, UK, Mexico City, MX, Bangkok TH.
Subway gogo. Great video Chris. I've done the amtrak into Boston the took the T everywhere.
Subway Go Go (NYC)!! Also rode Amtrak quite a bit growing up. It's definitely one of my favorite ways to travel, so this video was extra fun to watch!! 😊
Subway go go. Have ridden the Metro in DC several times. Great video!
How did I not know there's a subway in the LA area?! What a great video! I never would have thought to use Amtrak, either. Thanks!
Oh, and Subway GoGo AND The Tube GoGo *mind the gap!*
Most of the subways you see in TV shows are filmed in the Metro.
Subway Go Go!! I was lucky enough to ride in the London subway and it was so dang cool!!
THANK YOU for posting this! I was gonna do the same thing in Sept for Halloween Horror Nights and came across this video. Uber back at 2am, but catch the rail over there since it'll be rush hour. You rock!
Subway Go Go. Tokyo Subway & NYC Subways. Thanks Chris, YOU are "Special."
I've been wanting to book a trip to Disneyland but stressing over all the travel between universal and disneyland. Thank you for this! It helps so much.
Subway go go! I rode one for the first time in 2019 when we took the kids to NYC 😊
Subway go go!! But not lately!! Love the video tour !! 😍
