The first arp lick is very reminiscent of John Petrucci's opening solo in The Glass Prison.

I love the outro music. Reminds me of Django Legacy when Ian Cruikshank is playing musette with the accordion player ( who reminds me of Carmen Miranda and Xavier Cugat)

Thx for the video... the second arpeggio you did, I do as a four string arpeggio. Yngwie Malmsteen does the complete arpeggio in the Alcatrazz song " Too young to die, too drunk to live." In terms of alternate picking versus Down stroke/rest, I have learned "LA Gitane," note for note, I will record it with a backing track. What I have found, as an advanced guitar player playing in this style is, in regards to this song, I have had to make adjustments to my picking hand. Originally I was alternate picking on the lines, and its what you said, " if you really wanna go fast you have to use alternate picking." I found those fast lines in the the end of the A section were very weak in sound/projection. So I analyzed my picking style and had to revamp certain lines with down strokes. Even for an advanced player like myself, to apply a new picking method, contrary to what my subconscious has ingrained to it - which is the not thinking about my picking method - which is combo picking - it is not an easy feat to start changing my picking or even to think about it? But I am in the midst of perfecting this new method, I have to "THINK," and when I think, I stink.
I'm wondering if this has happened to other players who are advanced, that can, and do, utilize the Gypsy picking style, but don't play the down, and rest stroke picking method for every song, or, if they are even conscious of their picking style?
There is a huge sound difference when using the gypsy method.I NEVER thought about this before. Also, I am now using a "Wegen" FAT TONE Pick now, after almost 40 yrs of using a Dunlop, 1.5 Purple, I can't believe the difference in the tone and the speed of my picking, which is a combination of the circle/pencil picking method - Howard Roberts style, and the heavy metal Neo classical speed metal, rock, and of course the gypsy down stroke rest stroke. The fat tone and comfort of this pick is unbelievable, although, I am developing a callus on my first finger. Thx Again Dennis I Love your channel, the way you teach, and your IMMENSE dedication to this FABULOUS Genre of music.

Cool Video - you certainly can be proud of your beginner course on Soundslice. It is a big help and helps to unterstand a way to approach improvisation- so even for me with absolutely zero knowledge of theory - I unterstand now how it can work - it is not a blackbox anymore. But it gives a goal and a way how to reach it.
