I love that you cover us field gear, but it would be cool to see how to set up and use British webbing also. I live in utah and I'd like to set up British webbing for enfield T, and the sten. One day the Bren also. I can find items but I have no idea what I need or how it goes together. Thanks !
Hi Vince. I am afraid that is one area I cannot help with as apart from a couple of random items I just do not have British kit. I decided to focus totally on US things.
There is also a small pouch on the other side of the M44 that you can carry a lighter and pocket knife in and the larger pouch esbit stove fuel and probably gloves or even cleaning supplies for the gun or a can of bore cleaner which interestingly is around the size of that pouch.
I was a Cavalry Scout in the US Army during the late 80's. When I was in an Infantry Battalion, we would do foot patrols and I carried what I felt I would need for a 3 - 4 day patrol. I would carry 6 - 8 MRE's, 4 1-quart canteens of water on the outside of my medium rucksack, 2 2-quart canteens on the inside in the radio pouch, my wet weather top and bottom, and a bed roll. The bed roll was my own idea, I would spread out my poncho on the ground, put my sleeping pad on top of this, then add my poncho liner on top of that, fold my poncho over the other two items, then roll it up and attach it to the bottom of my ruck. That would fill a medium sized rucksack and with no outside support you took just what you needed.
Great video! It's nice to see the depiction of a late-war impression! There are photographs of GIs in American Parachute Infantry Regiments with glasses. So you are not wrong for wearing period correct P3 frame glasses, or private purchase style ones. 4:40 And from personal experience, as long as you are patient and do it right, those saftey razors are actually more pleasant than disposable razors. Aim to avoid pressing too hard and make sure to shave with the grain. 6:05 In fact, according to the lists of recovered items from GIs KIA many have personal pocket knives, maybe not the TL-29 like you have, but a period correct single or two bladed pocket knife. I've come across some photographs of GIs with personal knives on their belts. As you pointed out - they are handy. Pocket knives and such are useful and instances of GIs carrying private purchase ones are common. 10:09
I can but not quite yet as I do not have any wool trousers! I only have my M43s. But I will be getting some wool trousers as soon as I can. Hopefully next month!
No spoon? You do realize that a spoon is more useful than a fork? Soup comes to mind. And tea. I know a guy that has real k rats in his basement. I used a m-44 as a kid but it was listed as a mussette bag in the catalogues. On the flap the that little tab is where I carried a canteen survival kit. I miss that bag but I'm way to big to carry one now at 6'5
Yes I will be using it as a sling bag as that means I can drive the Jeep with my webbing on. Cant really drive with a field pack on. It also makes it easy to get to and I like wearing pack boards to which you cannot do when wearing a field pack. For bed roll do you mean what should you have in the bedroll or where would you put it? Because you can still attach the bedroll to the field ppack like nornall.
The bed roll fits onto the bag. There is a strap on the top and one on each side to hold the bedroll. If you watch my video on the m44 pack it shows it with a bedroll fitted. All be it a not very well made bedroll 😂
Good kit, like that haversack

Did you actually watch the video? :P I do use that pouch for my esbit stove and fuel 😁

Nice use of the bedroll idea :)
I have never had to do real service and would not pretend to have any idea what these big partrols would be like.

Nice. I would like to see them photos!
Good Video.
Thanks :) I will probably revise it in the future :)
Great vid man, getting ideas 👍
Thanks. If you have any questions on anything just say 😊
If you cant pack the scarf, just wear it. You also have 4 big pockets in your field jacket.
Entirely correct 😁 but I thought it was funny 😁
3 pairs of socks: one on, one drying, and one in the pack
You need 4 MINIMUM..
“Head, hands, feet, balls. Extra socks, wall to wall”
Hi can you do a 2nd Armored Normandy impression video?
I can but not quite yet as I do not have any wool trousers! I only have my M43s. But I will be getting some wool trousers as soon as I can. Hopefully next month!

I honestly have no idea what has happpened to my spoon!
But yes I do realise :D As soon as I locate my spoon it will be returned to the mess tin 🤣
So I take it you are using the M44 as a sling bag. What about bed roll?. Too much?. Thanks
I wrap my bedroll in the tent rope and sling it over my shoulder

I understand your context for use of M44 and where bed roll should go. Thanks again.

I did watch video, and put a bed roll on but mine did not fit well...was to thick.
