This was from Poppy's debut EP which at that point she was releasing music under "That Poppy". After the EP she started releasing as just "Poppy". Her first 2 full length albums were pop although the second one starts to turn heavier in the second half as an introduction for what was to come. Everything since then has been a mix of electronica, metal, industrial, punk and rock. You never know what she's going to do next and there's something for everyone in her discography.
The backing music is very similar to No Doubt Underneath It All ft. Lady Saw, so you were on point for the No Doubt vibe. And both videos start out with a radio in the beginning.
Shoulda done Spit, Dave. This is from when she was pure pop. Spit will show you exactly why she's featuring with Knocked Loose and Bad Omens. I'm guessing the one you were referring to as weird was X. That was the start of her metal phase.
I can't recommend trying out some of Poppy's newer songs - I Disagree, Concrete, They're All Around Us, etc - highly enough. Additionally, Poppy featured with Spiritbox on their new song Soft Spine at a festival recently as well as doing a bunch of other heavy collaborations.
After the first minute or so, her voice began to make my head feel like it was going to cave in. Just constant high-pitched projection of barely understandable words.
Have you heard of "Asaf Avidan"? Incredible artist, singer and musician. He's got the most incredible voice . Check him out you won't be disappointed ❤

Poppy does every style of music and somehow she does it well. Check out "X", "Voicemail", "Concrete", "Scary Mask", etc., etc..
She started out kind of doing adorable music with dark undertones to just all dark all the time basically lol
