Best day of my life. I live on the west coast and only get to one game a year, and this was the one I went back for. Having been at the previous NW game two years ago, I was convinced never to go back for another NW game because we always seem to play like crap against them. However this, wow. Every time I watch this video the same emotions come right back.
The announcer said "It's a Nebraska loss." WTF??? It's a Nebraska WIN!!! In grand fashion!! One of the greatest plays in college football this past season! As for the Huskers, I think it's right above Quincy Enunwa's 99 yard TD in the Gator Bowl.
Grew up as a Nebraska fan as I had a friend who moved from Omaha to my hometown. I was around 10yo as I was playing little league football. My friend introduced me to the wishbone. We ran option play after option play. We both played on a very run oriented HS team.
Man, you gotta feel bad for the Northwestern players. Played their hearts out and to lose like that, their feeling is summed up by one player, #44 in the back of the endzone as he catches the tip.
I wouldn't say it's the craziest finish in Nebraska history, that title belongs to Matt Davison's catch in 1997 against Mizzou to send us to the national championship.
when i saw this game and the winning catch i was like this guy is only a freshman he will be on of the best wrs in the country someday and will probably go to the nfl some day
"Going 0-4, needing a win, on the road, in Lincoln with a banged-up football team. What a great, gutty performance." Oops! Spoke too soon, buddy! LMAO GO BIG REEEEEEEED
I woulda been scared if I was Westerkamp, with all of my 300+pound offensive linemen jumping on me in celebration. He coulda been crushed to death! LOL Great finish to a great game!!! Go Big Red!!!
If you live in Nebraska, you'll certainly know what I'm talking about. Whenever they score a touchdown, someone yells "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG REEEEEEEEEEEEEED!" and then the rest of the crowd chants "GO BIG RED!" They certainly did on this night.
When I was 4 this happened, my younger sister (she was a baby), my mom was holding her and when Nebraska got the Hail Mary and it was a touchdown, my mom put her in a headlock.
Defenders are always told, "don't try to catch the ball. Knock it down". Instead, he wanted to pad his stats with an INT and instead lost the game for them.
Cornhuskers, please???!!!!! I loved them growing up in New England -Jarvis Redwine? I.M. Hipp? Keith 'Endzone' Jones? BUT with the departure of Osborne and then Solich....I turned away...........
Bo was a douche. Even if you argue he was in shock, he was still an ass to the whole team. Mike Riley is way more of a people person and does better around the team. Plus we are 7-2 right now and have some seemingly easy games ahead of us so he's go that going for us.
This was typical for Bo. Every single year he was at Nebraska it seemed like there were 4 games that Nebraska was out played and beat and then some miracle happens and they pull out a victory. The opener at Wyoming is one, against McNeese St, against Ohio St (when Fickle was interim coach) those are just the ones I can think off the top of my head. That luck kept him employed at Nebraska for several years more than he should have been.
Jim Weeda Personally, I don't see how Ron could be a legend. He didn't play nearly as long as Taylor Martinez. But the thing I ask myself from time to time is could Taylor have pulled this off?
that's what I initially thought. You know what, I think his approach was good. It's as he said after, "the play didn't change how we played the game." Or something like that.
Could it quite possibly be the breathtaking moment, as captured in the video, and in his face? Or is the twice tied shoelace another point of contention..... lol
As a Husker fan, this was the best ending to a football game this year.
Until Auburn two upped it, LOL

I can say that I was at this game. Before the play, the crowd was silent, and when Westerkamp caught it, the place was ELECTRIC!!!!!!
I live in Kansas and I still think Nebraska is the best
The announcer said "It's a Nebraska loss." WTF??? It's a Nebraska WIN!!! In grand fashion!! One of the greatest plays in college football this past season! As for the Huskers, I think it's right above Quincy Enunwa's 99 yard TD in the Gator Bowl.
This kid has an uncanny knack for incredible catches.
Guy flopping at 1:26 be like BRUH!
that is the best first career touchdown reception ever

I was thinking the same thing
Nebraska likes to beat the shit out of NW for some reason. This and the Kenny bell monster block.
AkBIGTexS I know..wasn't it awesome.
+Da Tube the monster block was vs wiconsin dumb ass you arent a true nebraska fan you dont know shit
+Da Tube kenny bell is a badass im suprised you even know bell i love kenny he was a bad ass wr for the huskers
Love Ron Kellogg III running in opposite direction! Coach Bo in state of shock!
Haha yep
I look back now and I wish we could've done this to either Michigan State or Iowa.
Love the northwestern guy collapsing in the replay
Westerkamp is what Nebraska needed!
+Avian oh i know right he is one of my favorite players on my favorite team. go huskers!
Brandon Browner Yeah!
Avian jordan westerkamp is an all american badass
I still get excited watching this
The coach he's like "Damn muthafucker, nobody's gonna come celebrate with me?!"
Bo Polini is never happy. Never.
Lol for real tho!
Was there. Good to see it again.
Miracles are forever; Good memories never end! GBR!!!
I was 8 rows up when this play happened. It was so exciting and the loudest I've ever heard that stadium. Go Big Red!
You must not have been there during the 90s 😊
Now that was an exciting ending.
Nebraska coach doesnt smile after the craziest finish in Nebraska history.
+Blizzard Rivals It's rather amazing. He reacts as if he just lost. Like a huge bet or something. Hmmm.
+Michael Dominici I think he was just in shock that we somehow won lol.
+Michael Dominici I also feel like he didn't want to celebrate right away in case it was overturned or something
I wouldn't say it's the craziest finish in Nebraska history, that title belongs to Matt Davison's catch in 1997 against Mizzou to send us to the national championship.
x Adiquite 1997 flea flicker against mizzou
It's going to be tipped AND CAUGHT ITS CAUGHT IT'S CAUGHT IT'S A TOUCHDOWN WESTERKAMP!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the call
Memorial Stadium, love ya. No place like nebraska
when i saw this game and the winning catch i was like this guy is only a freshman he will be on of the best wrs in the country someday and will probably go to the nfl some day
Hey, it's possible if Westerkamp has another solid season he could get drafted
And now he's in the NFL.
No he’s not he’s in the cfl now
JORDAN WESTERKAMP!
I thought the game was over and my dad said "it's once bud we win we lose" Then he throws it and tipped and ball game G.B.R 7-0
That was awsome go big red
"Going 0-4, needing a win, on the road, in Lincoln with a banged-up football team. What a great, gutty performance."
Oops! Spoke too soon, buddy! LMAO
GO BIG REEEEEEEED
Yea I was gonna say that to lol
Great memories!
When I first saw this, I felt like I was watching an old Husker game from the 70's. I just can't explain it.
Best ending to a football game, EVER!
If Nebraska was still in the Big 12 and beat Oklahoma this way, the whole state would be in non-stop party mode all night long.
Every year this game has been close this is what starts a good rivalry in my opinion.
How exciting would it be if we were still in the Big 12 and did this to Oklahoma?
That's quite possibly the most nonchalant, laid back reaction to a win following a last second play. He's like, "Cool. Now, where can I take a piss?"
That was amazing I was there at the game every body was fighting go dig red
I love the commentator's reaction
I miss Nebraska!!
Crazy...just crazy
I'll never forget where I was when this happened: At Randy's on 48th and Holdrege watching it.
Move over Matt Davison we have a new "The Catch". What a catch by Jordan off a defender even.
I remember being at this game when I was in 2nd grade 😮
Jordan Westerkamp was paying attention, he made the play. What a legend. Too bad he didn't make the NFL, all because of that damn injury.
He did make the NFL.
@@samsticka Yeah, but hes not with a team right now, he only made the preseason.
I woulda been scared if I was Westerkamp, with all of my 300+pound offensive linemen jumping on me in celebration. He coulda been crushed to death! LOL Great finish to a great game!!! Go Big Red!!!

Someone needs to post this with the Nebraska play by play radio call attached to it.
My friends middle name is Husker because his dad is a die hard Nebraska fan.
Jordan is from Montini Catholic HS in Lombard (burb of Chicago).
When I was 4 this happened, my younger sister (she was a baby), my mom was holding her and when Nebraska got the Hail Mary and it was a touchdown, my mom put her in a headlock.
That's a winner's mustache right there, if he had shaved before the game, we would have lost.
This is how we do it
Love how Bo Pelini looks like he doesn't even know his own name after it happened! He looked so confused haha
yup, agree
I like how they are giving kellogg all of the credit.
GBR!!!
Go Big Red
+Huskerkiller934 White i love nebraska dog! i completly agree go big red!
I love your how you play Brandon my dream is to be a future husker! GO BIG RED!
Huskerkiller934 White ya my real name isnt brandon but i was a good cb in high school my real name is dylan
Huskerkiller934 White go huskers my favorite college team
true
Go Big Red!
1:30 - Oh lawd, he comin'
Is anybody surprised that Kellogg threw the football 58 yards? Wow
Most college football quarterbacks should be able to throw that far. But I probably can't even grow half that. But still very impressive
The first ever Westercatch. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH
blocked for that kid in hs, glad to see him still kicking ass!
7 years later.
Defenders are always told, "don't try to catch the ball. Knock it down". Instead, he wanted to pad his stats with an INT and instead lost the game for them.
Bo looked disappointed lol
Was a t this game!
What makes me happy is that I'm now confused by this video title.
Which miracle catch is this, exactly?
Is it the one where he caught it in the end zone? Or the one he caught behind his back?
When talking to Bo the crowd is too loud to hear him at points. Go Big Red.
Cornhuskers, please???!!!!! I loved them growing up in New England -Jarvis Redwine? I.M. Hipp? Keith 'Endzone' Jones? BUT with the departure of Osborne and then Solich....I turned away...........
The commentators thought it was over .. LoL
I Wouldn't Rank This Hail Mary By Nebraska As One Of The Greastest Of All Time... I Think!!!
4:45 upper right hand side, northwestern player collapses. :D
Click on the closed captioning button
Husker for live
@JustDC lolol congrats you win one game stay classy iowa
Ron Kellogg is not fat he is ripped really strong if u meet him you would see that
Story of my life in a gif
Im surprised how a 250lb QB can throw a ball 70 yards! When I saw that I flipped out in my chair (not the QB, but the whole play!)
I lost it.
I love how westerkamp gets no credit for this.
But his teammate #9 did pull him down by his face-mask after the play 😮🙄
Hate how he never made the nfl
It may be totally unimportant, but I wonder what Tom Osborne thought of this?
Pat Fitzgerald is the one dislike.
whats with the nebraska coach
Bo was a douche. Even if you argue he was in shock, he was still an ass to the whole team. Mike Riley is way more of a people person and does better around the team. Plus we are 7-2 right now and have some seemingly easy games ahead of us so he's go that going for us.
Lol Nebraskan awesome
That's my cousins cousins 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Westerkamp or Kellogg. My cousin is very good friends with Ron's little brother Jordan
Extra point?
David Lee No time on the clock. NE won 27-24
Blake Walters oh my bad, I was thinking from a game I saw in the NFL you had to take the extra point even when there was no time on the clock.
I thought pelini was a good coach so he was a little harsh with his words so what!!!
Usc could do this every game
The quaterback did alot of shit he threw that far for Jordan to catch the ball
Why do they always give the credit to the QB? He chucks an air ball and then he's done. That was all Westerkamp!
I know. If it weren't for Jordan, then they wouldn't be saying that Ron saved the season and calling him a legend.
Sam Sticka Instead of the Legend of Ron Burgundy, it's the Legend of Ron Kellogg?
carlinfan4life Evidently so.
Sam Sticka Should be the Legend Of JorRon WesterLogg! :)
Jim Weeda Personally, I don't see how Ron could be a legend. He didn't play nearly as long as Taylor Martinez.
But the thing I ask myself from time to time is could Taylor have pulled this off?
Somebody tell Bo Pelini that they won. Or at least tell his face.
that's what I initially thought. You know what, I think his approach was good. It's as he said after, "the play didn't change how we played the game." Or something like that.
GBR
Don’t miss bo crazy at all
You still alive, LOSER!
we should have kept Bo now we suck
Lol #44
That is the fattest QB I have ever seen!
he has rib protects on
I agree. That dude is still pretty fat. with or without rib protects
So fat! Looks like he ate the QB
Look up Jared Lorenzen. 320 pound quarterback. He's a monster. Has a Super Bowl ring too.
Decon082 lmao, thank you for this! I stand corrected sir, Jared Lorenzen is officially the biggest QB I have ever seen now.
why did Kellogg run down to the other end of the field and not towards Westerkamp? That was just selfish... :-(
Could it quite possibly be the breathtaking moment, as captured in the video, and in his face? Or is the twice tied shoelace another point of contention..... lol
Because he didn't want to be in the dogpile.
Northwestern was the most disappointing football team this year
agree. At the start of the season I thought They might have at least 10 wins by the end
Go Hawkeyes! bahahahahahahahahahaha IOWA, BITCH!
No, Just DC can talk crap. Kicked our ass. Be forewarned Just DC: if you focus on us, like Colorado used to, you'll end up like Colorado is now.
im not really an iowa fan, just funny they beat nebraska. i do live in iowa tho.
