My favorite things about Prisoner Of Azkaban: 1. The Dementor attack on the Hogwarts Express. (Perfect dose of horror and suspense). 2.The song "Double Trouble". (Which is a nod to the witches from the Shakespearean play Macbeth) 3. Hermione punching Malfoy right in his smug face. 4. The introduction of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black and David Thewlis as Remus Lupin. 5. Harry flying on Buckbeak's back over Hogwarts (SPECTACULAR scenery). 6. Harry learning to use The Patronus Charm from Professor Lupin. 7. Harry fully using The Patronus Charm to save Sirius and himself at the edge of the Black Lake.
In the video game Hogwarts Legacy, there are paintings on the walls of the castle depicting Sirius flying away from Hogwarts on Buckbeak, through the pursuing dementors. Such a triumphant scene. There is also a memorial stone behind Hagrid's (future) home, if you look. It has a hippogriff on it.
@DanilegoPlays That is an iconic moment in the movie. A great bit of humor in that moment is Hermione smacking Harry's hand out of the way when he tries to examine the Time-Turner.
For those wondering about what is missing that isn't in the video/movie; The person Harry inflated is Vernon's sister Marge, she "trains" dogs. The dog Ripper also used to attack Harry. The Weasley's won a small lottery and went to Egypt to visit one of their sons Bill, who works as a Curse Breaker for Gringotts Bank. Sirius only decided to escape because Minister Fudge threw a copy of The Prophet at him and he saw Pettigrew (in his rat form) on the front page with the Weasley family and knew that Harry was at risk. Harry's Full Patronus takes the form of a stag, which was his father's Animagus form.
the movie left out sooo much lol. I don't know if anyone has explained this to you or not, but in the book it is revealed that the friend group of Lupin, Sirius, James, and Peter, all were very good friends, and due to Lupins condition of being a werewolf, the other three turned themselves into "Animagi" or an "Animagus", which refers to a person with the ability to transform into an animal at will, unlike a werewolf, who has no control. They did this to not only show solidarity, but also to accompany him so he wouldn't be so lonely. They were all incredibly talented and thus were the pranksters of their era. They created the "Marauders Map" in order to be able to sneak around easier. The "Marauders" are Lupin as "moony" a nickname given because he's a werewolf, Sirius as "padfoot" because dogs have padded toes, James as "prongs" because his animal was a Stag (harry's patronus). Peter was "worm tail" because of the rat tail. I recommend you all read the books after you finish the series bc they are actually very well done.
If the movie included everything from the books… it would be an over 4-5 hour long movie. You really can’t expect movies to fit all the information in just around 2 hours… unless you want a crow and rushed movie? 🤦♂️
@ThatFunnyGuyXx you can be efficient with the info you need and don't need 🙄. all of SPEW? not exactly necessary in its entirety. ONE scene of lupin going "your father and I made that map with our friends Harry and im glad to see it in good hands."? Very easy to implement and would save tons of confusion. Ain't nobody said they need to include everything, just that they barely include everything
@@Lt_Chloe There was no cursed teacher position in Hogwarts Legacy. The magical theory professor wasn't cursed at all; what are you talking about?? It was Tom Riddle who cursed the DADA position when Dumbledore turned him down for the job.
I thought that was a nice touch to show how serious things are getting. However, this one particularly had the most drastic shift in tone from the first two. Even more so than any that came after.
Harrys money is from his dads side, basically his great grandad invented alot of medical potions, including the potion that regrows bones from the last movie which made alot, then his grandad invented a magic hair product that qaudrupled that fortune, and james was an only child so he inherited everything and passed it down to harry.
38:28 If Peter Pettigrew shows up on the marauders map, that means over the 3 years Ron has been going to Hogwarts the twins MUST HAVE seen Ron in bed with someone named Peter, and thought nothing of it?
They care about their younger brother.... to an extent. And besides, when sneaking around the castle, Ron isn't the one that they're usually on the lookout for. It's usually the teachers, particularly Snape and Filtch (and Ms. Norris.)
Yeah, the majority of spells are derived from Latin. One spell that comes to mind is the Oculus Reparo charm that Hermione used to mend Harry's glasses on the Hogwarts Express (oculus meaning "eye" and reparo meaning "to repair").
26:35 The actor who replaced the previous Dumbledore wanted to cheer up the cast after the previous one’s passing, so he bought a super loud fart machine and during this scene, he had Snape push the button throughout his speech.
also, to answer you, James Potter was a "Pure Blood" meaning that he has magical decent. Which typically comes with generational wealth like that of the Malfoy family. Sirius Black is also Pure Blood, but that will come with its own explanation later. Lily Potter was a "mud blood" or "muggle", meaning she does not have magical decent, but was born with magical ability. This makes Harry a "Half-Blood" somebody with one parent each.
Lilly was a muggleborn not a muggle. A muggle is a person with no magic born to those with no magic. But you are correct about Harry being a half blood.
Yeah, introducing time travel kinda broke the world, but it was really only a few stragglers who'd complain about it because enough people knew it was a plot device you can ignore for the sake of the whole story. But then Rowling just had to be stupid and try to fix the problem in Order of the Phoenix and made it so much worse in the Cursed Child
29:37 don't you guys know? There IS a Harry Potter show coming on Max. For every book there will be a season and they will cover up every chapter of each novel
It's criminal that neither of Harry's "He was their FRIEND!"/"And when I find him, I'm gonna kill him!" lines aren't in this reaction. Such good lines. Same with Sirius' "I DID MY WAITING! TWELVE YEARS OF IT, IN AZKABAN!" Chills with that line, every time.
The Weasleys wanted Harry to stay with them, desperately. They were more than aware of how terrible Harry was being treated. It's why Ron's mom treated Harry like her own child and made sure he always felt special while he was around. Sadly, Harry had to stay with the Dursleys because they are blood relatives and Lily's (Harry's mom) protection spell is strongest when with blood relatives.
When Alfonso Cuaron took the role as Director, he asked the three leads to write a short essay on how they viewed their characters, that he might get to know them better. each actor acted in a manner so true to their character it is unreal: Emma Watson wrote 15 pages, Daniel Radcliffe wrote 1 page... Rupert Grint forgot.
Heard somewhere that the reason Harry's scar looks like a lightning bolt is because that's the shape you make with your wand for the killing curse :) Not sure how truthful it is but a hella cool detail

Oh dang, I feel like we jumped so far ahead in the edit around the 37 minute mark. Caught me off guard! A bit bummed to not see the reaction to Hermione punching Malfoy in the face. Haha. Besides that minor gripe, it was a fun reaction! Looking forward to the rest of the series!
So Harry Potter's family wealth is explained. One of his ancestors, Fleamont Potter, created a hair potion that was very popular and quadurpled the family's wealth. They also had another ancestor that opened a medical spot for muggles. That wealth got passed down to James, then to Harry
From what i remember of the books and i don't think they explain it fully in the movie but Sirius, James, and Peter became friends with Lupin when they were at school together and to manage his werewolf condition Lupin took a potion that let him stay in control but he would still transform during the full moon and would have to just spend his nights at the shrieking shack when going to school at Hogwarts during the full moon. In an effort to comfort their friend James, Sirius, and Peter became animagi, wizards who could become animals. It's normally something you're born with but you can learn to do it but it's supposedly quite difficult but they figured it out and so would all become animals and chill with lupin. Also a fully formed patronus usually takes the shape of an animal and that's why his patronus is a stag because james was an animagus who could turn into a stag and that's why he had the nickname prongs, for the antlers. Sirius was padfoot because if his pawpads as a dog, peter was wormtail because of his rat tail, and lupin was moony because the moon turned him
Fun fact!! This part 26:20 ... Behind the scenes, Daniel (Harry) wanted to have his sleeping bag next to the girl he liked. However, Alan rickman (Snape) wanted to prank him and how he did it was putting a fart machine in the sleeping bag. You can guess what happened 😂😂
34:24 James Potter (his dad) left him all that money he was very rich. I mean.. He was a Potter so of course he would be rich AND the only child (I'm talking about James) so James had many many many money to give Harry
@@ILikeCHEEZ9 the potter family made some magical stuff like the bonegrow serum from the 2nd movie and the hairgel like most wizards use for their hair, look at harry s'hair during the movies and knowing in the books what ever they did to change his hair it went messy straight away, just from those 2 inventions the potters made a fortune for generations
I prefer Michael Gambon’s Dumbledore over Richard Harris’ portrayal of the character. I can’t imagine being the only one who feels he gives off more of a serious Headmaster you don’t want to mess with compared to how he was in the first two movies.
It's awesome to me that the Dursleys are hated characters (I agree), but the 2 actors are some of the best ever, love em both.. and RIP to Uncle Vernon
I think in the books it explains that Harry has a safety spell at his family’s house, and that’s why the Minister scooped him up right away bc it’s very dangerous for Harry outside of their house and Hogwarts.
I have to be honest. Usually I don't mind all your anecdotes. BUT after 11:44 I was already sooo annoyed. Usually it's someone has already seen or read something. But that is no excuse to DELIBERATELY sabotage their experiences by saying: "btw you know FYI this and that was cut out and thus makes it not as good as the book" it's my favorite HP movie, and I never read the books so I thought the movie was great. If you tell them AFTER(!) you've watched the movie, you let them know a great movie, is an even better book. Instead of cutting mid-movie and saying something was cut out, and thus denying them an unbiased opinion is just... ARGH! That's basically as good as a spoiler for the books if they'd choose to read them. It makes one think "Ah the movie is trash, even though as a movie it's awesome". Obviously they had to cut out some stuff or it would've been a 5+ hour movie. But next time, wait with the fyi criticism until the end of the movie when they have made their own opinion about it and not throwing mud into their "meal" and let them just enjoy a great movie FIRST.
@sortastupid of course not if it's something like "fyi the actor got hurt doing this" or so, it doesn't affect the movie in a bad way, just some behind the scenes stuff. But saying like "fyi they cut out a huge part of something" is like "behind the story" stuff. It affects you subconsciously. For example, you're going to eat something, haven't tasted it yet but your looking forward to it and someone says it's not as good as it is originally because they didn't include some original ingredients. It's like a bad surprise, you then think it's a downgrade (which it obviously is). I guess it's like a negative Placebo? Reverse placebo effect? Expecting something mindblowing but you already know it's meh, compared to what it's actually like? Am I making sense lol? Edit: I just found that there actually is something called Nocebo Effect.
No you’re not making sense lol I promise we only found the stuff they said interesting. Didn’t really think about it much after it was said, or until you just brought it up now
I'm sure among book readers goblet of fire isn't loved but from people who only watched the movies it's considered the favorite by many people. Personally it's my favorite one. The only Harry Potter books I've read are the first one once when I was in elementary school, couple of years before the movie came out, and the 7th book after the deathly hollows part 1 movie came out.
@elizabethstrong6057 that's what I've heard, I'm sure if I had read the book I'd be if the same mind. I do plan on reading the books at one point though. Very recently I started reading novels of my favorite movies. Currently reading the lord of the rings books and after them gonna get into the Potter books.
Being this distressed about how much is missing in this film from the book is just hilarious to me when the fourth movie exists. I mean I get that this is the first time they're saying something because the first two films famously barely cut anything, just like one or two chapters and some details. They were pretty faithful adaptations, and this was the first one to deviate to a noticeable degree, but it's still many people's favorite film in the series because a lot of the changes simply made it a better film. At the end of the day there's more to turning a book into a movie than just taking everything from the book and putting it on the screen. And as the books got longer, things HAD to be left out. That said, the treatment this one got is _mild_ compared to what's to come....
I'm still mildly to extremely grumpy about how some things got changed around for some characters in the DH2 movie, but realize the filmmakers were trying to fit a compelling adaptation of a long and complex book into as short of a runtime as they could, which still ended up being two films. Still! Grumpy. 🤣🤣
The Potters were one of the old Wizarding Family in Wizarding World so his treasures were probably handed down. And the last book shows how his family is connected to old line of wizards.
“Is it just me or are the intros getting darker every time?” Yeah they are lol. That’s thematically intentional. 21:50 Bro just wants a physical newspaper with gifs in them, why ya gotta give him shit 😂 So the movie never gets around to explaining it, but Dementors rely on sensing the emotions they feed on and they’re really bad at sensing non-human entities. Sirius escaped by turning into a dog and swimming away.
One teacher on elementary school had the book of this movie and used to read it to my class. One of the details I remember is that Harry gave the bus checker a fake name, the first name he could think of, it was "Neville Lombotom". They didn't find out he was Harry until he arrived to the inn.
31:50 I first heard the term "Butt Rock" from Arin of GameGrumps. It was during a Sonic the Hedgehog playthrough (2006, I think), and he used the term to describe the genre of its soundtrack
I know most of all harry potter movies have a halloween feel to them but most would say the 3rd movie is considered a halloween movie for the fact that it has wraiths, werewolves, and a pumpkin patch. Oh and at the beginning of entering hogwarts, it shows a choir of the students singing double trouble which is a halloween song.
I find it really funny that Ron's brothers had that map all this time and never once wondered why there is someone named Peter Pattigrew in their house, every day, every night with their little brother 😂
Eating chocolate literally releases endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. The Dementors make the person feel the worst depression you can imagine. So it makes sense that chocolate helps as a pick-me-up after a Dementor encounter.
I love those blankets! This film is definitely much more theatrical because of the director. But he also challenged the kids doing a lot of the scenes in one long take
I get where Bree is coming from, like, "if they skip this much in the beginning, i'm worried what else they cut out"; but the movie is the movie and the book is the book. They each do something the other cannot and that means more for us fans.
That is true but there's so many things I question in the movie before I read the book, like don't get me wrong, it is still enjoyable just not a full story I feel like
@@groggygreenplus there's two instance I can't forget about is one, how did Sirius know where Peter are if he didn't work with Remus originally? The second one would be how tf does Harry saw a stag and thought it was his dad (because I was like "YOUR WHAT??? Dad?? I'm sure copyright gave them trouble but that's such a massive and important portion of the film to cut out. Also sort of ironic after the comments about what got cut from the books. 😅
Ruff bringing up stuff from their universal trip constantly but then immediately being like, "wtf are you talking about you insane person when would I have ever seen that." When someone else brings something from the trip up is just sending me 😂
My favorite things about Prisoner Of Azkaban:
1. The Dementor attack on the Hogwarts Express. (Perfect dose of horror and suspense).
2.The song "Double Trouble". (Which is a nod to the witches from the Shakespearean play Macbeth)
@@slcs369 That's some amazing imagery and nice Easter eggs
My favorite by far is the time travel section
@DanilegoPlays That is an iconic moment in the movie. A great bit of humor in that moment is Hermione smacking Harry's hand out of the way when he tries to examine the Time-Turner.
For those wondering about what is missing that isn't in the video/movie;
The person Harry inflated is Vernon's sister Marge, she "trains" dogs.
Oh my god that makes so much sense
If the movie included everything from the books… it would be an over 4-5 hour long movie. You really can’t expect movies to fit all the information in just around 2 hours… unless you want a crow and rushed movie? 🤦♂️
@ThatFunnyGuyXx you can be efficient with the info you need and don't need 🙄. all of SPEW? not exactly necessary in its entirety. ONE scene of lupin going "your father and I made that map with our friends Harry and im glad to see it in good hands."? Very easy to implement and would save tons of confusion. Ain't nobody said they need to include everything, just that they barely include everything
the background check is most wizards just know each other because their entire community is the size of a small town.
Aint no way, I literally clicked on this 3 minutes ago and it told me "members first" only for it to appear in my front page as "1min ago"

0:40 No you are not crazy, the Intro title scene get progressively darker with each movie intentionally cuz each movie is "darker"
I thought that was a nice touch to show how serious things are getting. However, this one particularly had the most drastic shift in tone from the first two. Even more so than any that came after.
39:16 Ya'll need to see Disney's Enchanted now. Great self-critique and reconstruction of the classic Disney tropes.
Norris.)
Dont ask, dont tell. Fred and George being reel Bros, Or not wanting to waste a piece of Blackmail that juicy.
To be fair that bit is only in the movie.
@@nathanvalley7269 That scene was movie only, but Peter showing up on the map was in the book. Remus saw it when Ron got dragged under the tree.

Spell Latin Translation: Expecto Patronum="I await a protector"
🤍 🦌
Yeah, the majority of spells are derived from Latin. One spell that comes to mind is the Oculus Reparo charm that Hermione used to mend Harry's glasses on the Hogwarts Express (oculus meaning "eye" and reparo meaning "to repair").
That is so heartwarming and dope.
Or "I await a lawyer" :D
26:35
The actor who replaced the previous Dumbledore wanted to cheer up the cast after the previous one’s passing, so he bought a super loud fart machine and during this scene, he had Snape push the button throughout his speech.
The opening scene with the aunt is just pure bliss
also, to answer you, James Potter was a "Pure Blood" meaning that he has magical decent.
Spelling descent as decent is not very decent :P
Lilly was a muggleborn not a muggle. A muggle is a person with no magic born to those with no magic. But you are correct about Harry being a half blood.
Lupin feeds him chocolate because it is a universal comfort food. Most people immediately feel better and happier when they eat chocolate.
Imagine if they actually kept that Time Turner and how different the story would be.
“Bad things happen to wizards that meddle with time Harry”
She was just borrowing it anyway. It belonged to Minerva

It's criminal that neither of Harry's "He was their FRIEND!"/"And when I find him, I'm gonna kill him!" lines aren't in this reaction. Such good lines.
Same with Sirius' "I DID MY WAITING! TWELVE YEARS OF IT, IN AZKABAN!"
Chills with that line, every time.

@@szaman3209 Blame Copyright. It wasn't very nice to them with this movie.

The fyi stuff in now way affected our enjoyment of the movie. We still had a great time. You can entertain a thought without being persuaded by it.
No you’re not making sense lol
I promise we only found the stuff they said interesting. Didn’t really think about it much after it was said, or until you just brought it up now

I love watching Ruff continuously pointing at the screen whenever he sees something familiar or figure something out, and Boom is just Funny 😂
One of my favorite books of the series and the movie did it so dirty. Remove the big plot twist 🙄
Still! Grumpy. 🤣🤣
Absolutely love it a lot
Gary oldman as sirus black iconic
This is definitely my favourite of all 8 movies! It treads an amazing balance between lighthearted and dark, and it’s got a nice ending
The Potters were one of the old Wizarding Family in Wizarding World so his treasures were probably handed down. And the last book shows how his family is connected to old line of wizards.
“Is it just me or are the intros getting darker every time?”
Yeah they are lol. That’s thematically intentional.

So the movie never gets around to explaining it, but Dementors rely on sensing the emotions they feed on and they’re really bad at sensing non-human entities. Sirius escaped by turning into a dog and swimming away.
