I feel like something that’s worth mentioning when it comes to Bubba missing the playoffs is that he was 12th in regular season points after Darlington and would’ve made it if the win and you’re in format didn’t exist.
Denny Hamlin lost 13 playoff points with his penalty. 3 spots in the regular season plus the 10 from the penalty itself. And with those 75 points he'd be 1 behind Chase Elliott so you can argue he lost another point there. If Denny is eliminated by 14 or less Points then this penalty will have officially cost him.

I can remember when so many sports writers saying Magic Johnson was the absolute greatest ever and Jordon was just good and really didnt count…!!! Then BAM Jordon had 6 Championships and is considered the greatest ever… ! That being said i think Larson is one of the best all around race car drivers ever but times are so different now with all the different rules to keep the car builders , engineers and teams in a certain order its just luck sometimes the way everything works out and anybody in the playoffs can pull it out…! ( by the way i dont think Larson wanted anything to do with KYLE BUSCH and Chase Brisco once they started duking it out for the win ..Because he still has the owners championship and playoff drivers lead..! ❤🏁🇺🇸
Larson is an absolute hack. He was dooring Buescher repeatedly at Kansas. The only driver Larson races clean is Hamlin which is wierd. Larson doored Truex at Indy wrecked Chastain at Nashville, he wrecked the field 4 times at Daytona last week!! As a Buescher Bowman Briscoe Brad fan, no respect for Larson anymore. And before anyone tells me about Keselowski, he's grown up. He's now racing for himself and has selflessly raised a dying team from the ashes. He's grown up. Used to hate him but love him now. But Larson has completely lost respect. Screw him
Also Buescher was screwed by NASCAR. Per the rulebook, they use the scoring transponders in everything else, but NASCAR gave the win to Larson (not any favoritism here) because 'the picture showed him reaching (the thicker) finish line first. Horrible
We can't ignore the fact that the commentary was infinitely better with someone in there who makes play by play calls. Within the first 15 seconds of the race, he mentioned movement in the field and momentum. The last lap commentary built suspense like it should. This is what nascar needs more than anything.
@@mitchell3606 Your post reminds me of Jeff Goldblum's line from the Big Chill: "Don't knock rationalizations! Where would we be without them? I don't know anyone who'd get through the day without two or three juicy rationalizations."
For as much as us NASCAR fans say how we hate the playoffs, the storylines from this race were a prime example of what they were trying to get at, and from what I can see we’re all eating it up.
In no way doesthe good outweigh the bad. There are truly consistently good drivers out of the championship run while Burtn, Cindric, Suarez and Brisco are in. That makes no sense.
@stickfigdude7037 Kevin Harvick a few years back checked all the championship boxes. Lead more laps, advanced his position more times, and had the most wins, etc . . . But the playoff system knocked him out because some hotdogs made an aggressive move, taking a bunch with him. So I have no remorse for you. I do understand that my friend is the way OZZCAR wants it. Follow the Gold Brick Yard Highway.
His crew chief isn’t the best tbh he isn’t bad but reddick has a better crew chief yes the drivers drive the car but you have to have a good crew chief and pit crew to help too!
It really bothered me when Kyle said that maybe he is washed up. He took that 8 car to 3 wins last year and nearly 3 this year. The man has incredible talent for years to come, remembering a "washed up" Darrell Waltirp's performance in Dale's #1 Pennzoil Car
Eric, Briscoe was full time in Xfinity in 2020, meaning his win at Darlington was for the playoffs In all seriousness though, Carson Hocevar spinning out with about 55 laps to go started the chain reaction that lead to the finish of this race - Bubba wrecks - Busch gets new tires to move into the top 5 - Briscoe gets the lead - Busch catches Briscoe after the final restart but just can't complete the pass for the win
Apparently and thankfully Tyler didn't physically get sick in the car. Pretty close but with the medications they gave him he was able to keep it under control. Barely....
I was a huge Nascar fan in the late 2000s and early 2010s, but stopped paying attention around 2014-15, but Chicago last season brought me back. When I was previously watching, I was a diehard Tony Stewart guy, and decided to choose Briscoe as my favorite of the newer guys when I started watching again. Didn’t remember how amazing it is to watch your guy win until last night.
Welcome back. NASCAR is not what it was 20 years ago, but nothing is. You can either walk away because it's not the same, or embrace and enjoy what it is, now. I've chosen the latter.
Shout out to Darlington giving us at least one good, clean finish, under green for a crown jewel race this year. It’s also hilarious 1 chance rain cloud in Indianapolis on Memorial Day weekend essentially cost Larson the regular season title by 1 point lol.
I haven't liked Briscoe as a driver up until now. He has been fast, but prone to making bonehead moves at critical moments. But he was at the front all night long, battling with the best in the business, and made a great, gutsy move when it counted. He has matured. I'm still rooting for Busch to get a win and keep his record going.
9:10 Ford in general took a step back this year. Buescher and Keselowski drove well this year as well as Penske and even some flashes from the inexperienced SHR drivers. But Ford's Racing division needs to look at a few things to be more competitive next year.
If Dillon's win wasn't cancelled the 10th place finisher in the points wouldn't have qualified for the playoffs. We all talk about the gaining of money & notoriety for win and your in. What about the extreme loss of money for a top 10 points finish that can't finish the year higher than 17th just because they didn't have the right amount of luck to win?
Reddick’s been at 23XI half as long as Bubba, but has twice as many playoff appearances. That’s not a good look. Something absolutely needs to change because that 23 team’s clearly not clicking.
IDK what though, because it's not like Bubba isn't running respectably (he's 12th in points before any playoff implications begin, and the existence of Penske, Hendrick, and Gibbs already leads to a crowded top-10.) Both he and Buscher lost out pretty big due to moments not within the team's/driver's control this season.
My "Playoffs". 1. Win and you in is not a thing 2. Playoff points still exist 3.Top 12 in points get in 4. Round of 12,10,6 5. Champ 4 still exists 6.If you win in the playoffs you ADV.
@@Duval-In-The-Wallactually I think Gibbs owes steinhouse a beer... Him and truex are tied in points but truex has one more stage win on the season.. Gibbs would been the first one out, if dillion's win counted towards the playoffs.
Bubba Wallace can’t control who decides to wreck him every week. Acting like it’s somehow him when he’s leading laps and in the top 5 in these races is laughable. He was 10th in points last year and he’s 13th in points earned this year. He had more points than 5 drivers that are in the playoffs despite being wrecked out in like every other race. Stop.
I want to see the “win you’re in” AFTER the playoffs begins so you reward also the consistency. The idea of implementing the “win you’re in” was to ensure a champion was crowned who at least won a race.
How about the possibility that Reddick is emotionally, a more focused and mentally mature driver than Wallace. At this level, that is all it takes to be the difference between team cars.
Pretty much everyone associated with the team has commented how Bubba's attitude is night and day from what it was in say, the end of 2022. So I'm not sure where you're coming from with that one.
Ready for that playoff prediction video coming out this week. Interested to see who you have in the final 4 since there are so many capable candidates this year
One thing to note about Chris Buescher and Bubba. They both had cars that were capable of making the playoffs, but with the Harrison Burton and Chase Briscoe wins they have both been eliminated by the "Win and you're in." Even going back to Nasville and Chicago when Joey Logano and Alex Bowman won, they pushed Buescher and Bubba closer and closer to the cutline. they both were deserving of playoff spots, but crazy wins with Cindric and Saurez, Bowman, Logano, even Keselowski winning this season they had no shot to point in because of the points cushion that Gibbs and Truex had. Bubba and Buescher both had race winning cars at one point in this season, but never won. So saying they took a step back isn't completely true they just haven't won this season.
They both had chances to win, just like those other drivers, but couldn't. They couldn't get enough points to keep from being booted out. That's on them. Truex and Gibbs both are in, with no wins.. Deserving of playoff spot, no they aren't..
This is why I say the playoffs system is flawed! Either take the top 16 drivers of the regular season or if Winning is so important, consistency should also be! You must win but also maintain a position of top 20 in points! This insure that you the best of the best teams and drivers in the playoffs, not just a lucky winner. 😮
I don’t want a “cut off rule”. There are 36 charters available,so all 36 should be eligible. It’s every mid pack team’s dream to get that elusive spot in the playoffs and almost every year we have a surprise. I think it’s a great way to get more recognition and more money to these smaller teams, and is a great carrot to dangle out there for them. Also,MJ and that super exciting racing had my heart rate up during the end of the race. What a banger!
they can win and get the recognition. even in those sports that have playoffs, there is still a requirement to qualify. the playoffs is meant for teams capable of competing for a championship. Burton in 34th could win every speedway race in the season but the format means he will never win a championship (in that ride) because the final race is not a speedway and you actually have to have the car and skill to win. waste

In my opinion, Ross Chastain has not been the same since the issues with Hendrick. I think they told him to stop and he cannot drive the same way, now.
Well, when you have cry baby Hendrick. Calling Chevy calling NASCAR and then basically threatening trackhouse racing. That's the result. You're gonna get. I've said it every since then. Ross Chastain needs to go to a team that has an owner that has a set of balls. Chastain will win a championship with another team.
Im surprised nobody is mentioning this. But to me it looked like Buescher intentionally right hooked Gilliland after he got put in the wall. Even the on board camera seemed to show him continually turning left.
GOOD It's about time he grew a pair. He let Larson push him around in 2 races he should have won. While I'm disappointed he didn't make it, maybe he'll stop letting all these drivers push him around. He def has the talent but lacks some balls
@@nickg505so your saying he didn't deserve those wins.. and Larson had the balls you feel like Briscoe should of had? You can't have it both ways, either you're for contact or you're not.
@deliriouswhome1 huh?? Larson previously pushed him down into the apron, almost off the track to win a race. Yesterday, Todd pushed him into the wall and Buescher said NOPE and fought back. I can't believe I had to explain that lol
💡 Suggestion to improve the “win and you’re in” system. Top 16 on points are in. 2 wildcard spots for drivers outside of the top 16 who won a race (no win, no wildcards). 12 cars advance to the second round still. It would be a better balance between entertainment and sport. Thoughts?
@@RandomInternetUser69 only 12 cars would advance to the next round. So it won’t change the rest of the playoffs, just the first round (if we have wildcards winners)
@@RandomInternetUser69 That would make the first round more interesting in my opinion. Right now, Burton, Cindric, Suarez and Briscoe could make the first round not so interesting if they don’t perform.
@@Duval-In-The-Wall I agree. I don't mind the stage points unlike others. But the win and your in is stupid. So is the tournament like bracket for the playoffs. Get rid of those two things and you have something.
I'm OK with win and your in. It keeps things exciting. No one wants to watch the same ole biggest budget teams compete. I will say the whole season champ is so underplayed, tho for a playoff spots that will probably be out first round anyway.
@@nickg505 I know this is something a lot of people don’t wanna talk about nowadays. But there was a time period when a lot of people were sick and tired of seeing Jimmie Johnson win left and right.
In 2011, Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards were tied in points after the last race of the season. Tony Stewart won the overall season championship over Carl Edwards on a tie breaker.
Playoff rule change: win and you are top 25 in points gets you in. (First 5 races are basically win and your in). If you are 26th and back in points, you are not guaranteed a playoff spot, but you receive an extra 100 points for wining the race. Should put you in top 25, go win another race and you are in the playoffs
No hate, as I am not a Bubba fan, however, there is an undeniable talent gap between Tyler and Bubba. That should just about explain the difference in results. No one has ever put Bubba in the same pure talent class as Tyler. I’d say Bubba is getting all out of his equipment that HE is capable of. He is not a driver that has won everywhere he has gone. Not a driver that, “ wins in everything he gets in”. That’s just not him. He is more of an example of, with enough time, effort, funding and practice, most anyone can get pretty good at something.
The only quibble I have with this is, Tyler Reddick is the regular season champion. There's a talent gap between Reddick and a bunch of guys. It's just amplified for Bubba because he is driving cars from the same shop. I'd submit that Bubba is more talented than an Austin Dillon or even Austin Cindric. But certainly he is not a Reddick, Hamiln, Larson, or Busch.
Seriously, the top 30 points needs to be in play again. I agree with you It’s not right seeing Harrison in. Drivers within that mark should be in and he wasn’t.
I like what someone mentioned before that, the top 16 in points make it with "no win and your in" but make a win worth 100 points and the rest of the point process stays the same.
The problem isn't "win and you're in" in general, but "win and you're in" no matter what. Even the old top 30 limit, while helpful, just isn't aggressive enough. Even top 24 is way too generous, in my opinion, but I'd be happy with that as a cutoff. Yes, a win should be enough to vault you above your otherwise comparable peers, but not enough to override an entire season of poor performance. Buescher, Wallace, Chastain, Busch. All of them are missing the postseason, and all are undeniably better than Burton, who is twice as likely to not finish a race at all than to finish even top 10. With a top 24 cut-off, the Dillon drama goes away, because he'd have nothing to gain by doing it.

He also called Darlington Martinsville. So there’s that.
@@smalls3187 So he's learning. Still better than talking about hotdogs and having a casual conversation while a race is in the background.
Yep, It works at least for the regular season.
Nope still hate the playoffs.

Not a NASCAR fan. A driver fan. The drivers make the show . . . NASCAR gets in the way sometimes.
Tires over track position at Michigan for bubba was an all time bone head call.
Was rooting for busch but good to see shr in playoffs
I feel the exact same way. Loss hope with 3 to go. It is one thing to catch him, but another to pass!
Yeah
It’s safe to say we’re in for a very interesting playoff battle!
Eric, Briscoe was full time in Xfinity in 2020, meaning his win at Darlington was for the playoffs
In all seriousness though, Carson Hocevar spinning out with about 55 laps to go started the chain reaction that lead to the finish of this race
- Bubba wrecks
- Busch gets new tires to move into the top 5
- Briscoe gets the lead
- Busch catches Briscoe after the final restart but just can't complete the pass for the win
Erm 🤓👆
You mean Zebra 🦓 Wallace didn't make the playoffs dang that's terrible

Tony's #14 car may have got its final win before the team close up shop by seasons end.. great win.
I'm really happy for Harrison Burton and even more happy for the Wood Brothers but you are correct about a cutoff for the playoffs.
Let’s be real, if Carson Hocevar doesn’t wreck Larson walks away with the regular season chip…
23XI won both Kansas races in 2022, remember Kurt won the first while bubba won the second
Tyler Reddick also got spotted some points because of Larson giving up a whole race of points
Shout out to Darlington giving us at least one good, clean finish, under green for a crown jewel race this year. It’s also hilarious 1 chance rain cloud in Indianapolis on Memorial Day weekend essentially cost Larson the regular season title by 1 point lol.
Maybe he will prioritize NASCAR next year.
@@smalls3187 anyone would pick the Indy 500 over the Coke 600 it’s not that big of a deal.
The way I see it, Busch has 10 races to continue his streak
I haven't liked Briscoe as a driver up until now. He has been fast, but prone to making bonehead moves at critical moments. But he was at the front all night long, battling with the best in the business, and made a great, gutsy move when it counted. He has matured.
I'm still rooting for Busch to get a win and keep his record going.
9:10 Ford in general took a step back this year. Buescher and Keselowski drove well this year as well as Penske and even some flashes from the inexperienced SHR drivers. But Ford's Racing division needs to look at a few things to be more competitive next year.
Finally Lajoie is cashing in on his stacking crashes!!! 😂😂😂😂
Being a #14 loyalist since I first got into NASCAR at 6 has been worth it, May be the last for SHR but what a way to go out if it is!
Been a Tony fan my whole life but a 14 fan from 2009 on. Sad to see them go
Reddick’s been at 23XI half as long as Bubba, but has twice as many playoff appearances. That’s not a good look. Something absolutely needs to change because that 23 team’s clearly not clicking.
If Bubba was cut by 23xi, do you think anyone would pick him up ?
And double the wins in 2 seasons.
@@paulmoss7940doubtful.
IDK what though, because it's not like Bubba isn't running respectably (he's 12th in points before any playoff implications begin, and the existence of Penske, Hendrick, and Gibbs already leads to a crowded top-10.)

Stop.
You stop RSOB!!!!!
I want to see the “win you’re in” AFTER the playoffs begins so you reward also the consistency. The idea of implementing the “win you’re in” was to ensure a champion was crowned who at least won a race.
The old points rewarded consistency for the hold year
How about the possibility that Reddick is emotionally, a more focused and mentally mature driver than Wallace. At this level, that is all it takes to be the difference between team cars.
100% this
If they have to keep a subpar crew chief just to keep Bubba’s feelings in check then they don’t deserve to win
Pretty much everyone associated with the team has commented how Bubba's attitude is night and day from what it was in say, the end of 2022. So I'm not sure where you're coming from with that one.
Appreciate your breakdown as always! Darlington honoring the great Cale Yarborough was what encouraged us to buy tickets and it did not disappoint 🏁🏁

Darlington delivers again. Fantastic race, the crowd was awesome to see on TV. Love to see it
SHR making to the playoffs in arguably their worst season, that’s a newly filled space on my bingo card
Burton in 34th could win every speedway race in the season but the format means he will never win a championship (in that ride) because the final race is not a speedway and you actually have to have the car and skill to win. waste

I wish there was a points element so teams had to try and do well on points and not just go for a fluke win to get in either.

If you win you deserve to be in. You’ve proved capable of winning and being the best for a race means you should be in the playoffs imo.
In my opinion, Ross Chastain has not been the same since the issues with Hendrick. I think they told him to stop and he cannot drive the same way, now.
His equipment ain't that good.. it's decent but not to battle for a championship
You are 💯 % correct! Chastain is not the same ever since. 😢

You can't have it both ways, either you're for contact or you're not.
he did, but it was subtle enough because of getting walled
@deliriouswhome1 huh?? Larson previously pushed him down into the apron, almost off the track to win a race. Yesterday, Todd pushed him into the wall and Buescher said NOPE and fought back.
I can't believe I had to explain that lol
He will be penalized later this week. Should be suspended as it is the same thing as Bubba and Chase wrecking guys.
💡 Suggestion to improve the “win and you’re in” system. Top 16 on points are in. 2 wildcard spots for drivers outside of the top 16 who won a race (no win, no wildcards). 12 cars advance to the second round still. It would be a better balance between entertainment and sport. Thoughts?
If you want playoffs to really work it should be top 10 in points only also remove the win and in entirely.
16 playoff spots are already too many. 18 isn’t the answer.
If you reduce the number of cars in the first round, then a lot less people will tune in for the playoffs.
I don't think it's all the team. Bubba should be looking to himself.
Right, because Wallace was the one driving the other car that caused every wreck he was in

I don't know about anyone else, but Lee Diffey has been a breath of fresh air in the NBC booth.
Nice FORD sign wildman
No hate, as I am not a Bubba fan, however, there is an undeniable talent gap between Tyler and Bubba. That should just about explain the difference in results. No one has ever put Bubba in the same pure talent class as Tyler. I’d say Bubba is getting all out of his equipment that HE is capable of. He is not a driver that has won everywhere he has gone. Not a driver that, “ wins in everything he gets in”. That’s just not him. He is more of an example of, with enough time, effort, funding and practice, most anyone can get pretty good at something.
I think you nailed it
The only quibble I have with this is, Tyler Reddick is the regular season champion.
What a dramatic run at Darlington. We’ve saw huge more restarts, too tough too frame and I’ll give a 87.8% ratings.
Seriously, the top 30 points needs to be in play again. I agree with you It’s not right seeing Harrison in. Drivers within that mark should be in and he wasn’t.
Should be top 20 in points! Reward consistent top 5 and top 10 placing drivers. Not these one fluke winners.
I think maybe top 20-25. Make points matter.
I like what someone mentioned before that, the top 16 in points make it with "no win and your in" but make a win worth 100 points and the rest of the point process stays the same.
Will see what happens in the playoffs i think this ones gonna be full of major upsets
What a bummer Kyle Busch didn't make the playoffs hopefully he can still win a race this season and can keep the steak alive.
My pick christopher bell ended up 3rd but is 2nd in this year's points
We’re getting so spoiled this season 😂 it’s awesome
