Can I suggest an modification to your project. What if you built it into your wall and the access to the door is on the inside of your property. What do you think? So you dont have to come outside to collect your packages. Also it prevents access to any lock that is possible of being picked?
I'm sold, from the first video! This was absolutely awesome! I'm a visual learner. So this was like a miniature class! 😂The finished product was amazing! It may take me a while to complete, but it's totally doable n will meet my need perfectly. I'm saving this tutorial n subscribing for more! Tyfs!
Finished product looks amazing. Looking to do the same! One thing I noticed tho is if someone really has the intent to get your stuff, they could just simply cut the cord that pulls the flap. I will sketch up something that keeps the flap horizontal and only goes down when the roof cover is closed.
Great video and nice place to start. There is a security flaw though, what if someone just cuts the rope? I think that maybe it should be a cable that goes through the top and bottom boards so it can't be cut or removed or did I miss something?

How TF does this guy not have more followers? This is THE Mona Lisa of Parcel Boxes. It’s near perfection. Only thing I would of done different is I would of placed the keyed opening on the back away from view. This is carpentry porn 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I'm pretty sure the purpose of his project is to be an oversized mail box which can fit parcels from amazon etc. He probably lives in a good neigborhood, It's not meant to protect his parcels from porch pirates. I don't get why people in the comments are malding over security flaws.
Yes it would but said invader would still have to climb in to reach the packages. You could use a chain instead of rope. Our neighborhood is fortunately pretty good and have had no "invaders" so far.
Someone asked how much the materials cost; for me it would cost thousands as I don't have any of the "fancy" power tools. If I did, I wouldn't know much about how to put it together without a materials list and a blueprint. I guess since the title doesn't indicate that this is a tutorial it was a good video for what it is: watching someone build something. BTW, nice camera work.
you can repurpose an oil drum find a buddy who knows how to weld and pay a kid 50 bucks to paint it, total cost 200 prolly less if u know how to cook 🍺
This is tall enough that I could have it behind my fence if it had rear access door. It would be perfect for my deliveries. Now, how do I get one! I’m a 74 year old female with no carpentry skills. Yikes! I need this!!! Genius! I’ve been searching the internet for something to purchase but found nothing like this!
This is great work! Very well thought design. KUDOS! I think the next design version for this will be focused on fragile items. Instead of vertical drop, it will be horizontal push.
1 pry bar and 5 seconds later your package is gone. need better locks, hinges and doors. Its an idea. Maybe make it from steel and weld it. Or perhaps make the access door inside your property.
Nice project sir. I was thinking of the doing a similar project, except it has to be attached to the gate or fence and not protruding because Marikina enforces sidewalk nuisance laws.
Hey their my friend made his mailbox by copying off your video. I suggest some design changes. Instead of using para cord use some type of heavy duty steel like rope and with some metal plating for parts that could be easily accessed. Saying this because he got robbed last week and I’m the one picking his packages up while he was on vacation. They got in from the top and bottom top by cutting the para cord and by snapping the heavy duty lock on it. I suggest for the bottom part is to put a metal box with a combo or key access on top the first lock. He also used laser cut metal for almost anything that goes through the top. After that he’s got tons of theft attempts and they all failed after that lol.
@VincheroKarpintero~ Outstanding! What are the dimensions (height x width x depth) of your parcel box? Do you have pdf Building Plans for the Parcel Drop Box available for sale? I would REALLY love to purchase a set of plans from you! Let me know if I can purchase the plans from you! Thanks~~ Christy~~
@@VincheroKarpintero Fantastic! I just found a link to the basic steps your did in the build on the site "Interesting Engineering". I will send you an email for the Sketchup plans, thank you so very much!
With a box that tall, is the trap door even needed though? Obviously these things just slow thieves down and hopefully discourage them entirely, and I am thinking most aren't going to bother if they can't actually see anything inside. Having to dive in head first to get it if they do is another roadblock.
What happens when someone cuts the string. Uses a long handle grabber and takes your package. A simple modification is to add limiter so your flat board cant fall flat to the wall.
Except that, any thief with a good master key can open any lock. I propose the same thing except that instead of package dropping down, it slides into the inside of the house through the wall. A thief sure could open any front door or window and can steal your delivered package of corn flakes but will have to deal with Rex the Doberman inside.
I'm interested to know if delivery guys (Amazon, DHL, UPS, USPS, Fedex, etc.) actually uses it. You can put a sign I guess but people usually don't read lol
you can repurpose an oil drum find a buddy who knows how to weld and pay a kid 50 bucks to paint it, total cost 200 prolly less if u know how to cook 🍺
All that effort and one kick would do that door. And it isn't an attractive feature. A good example of someone spending the same amount of time making something rubbish as making something good.
Pandemic box? Really? When's the last time you touched a delivery person? Clickbait. You do realize 1. it doesn't matter and 2. You're still going to touch the box.

We considered this but I wasn't too keen on making a hole in the wall into our property. Agree though that it might have been nicer to do this.

Loved seeing the father-son bonding time. Those are memories he will cherish and carry with him through life!

It’s a really tall drop box, it would be hard for someone to reach for the packages at the bottom.
Maybe replace it with metal cable or chain

Good video editing and great carpentry. Very nice!
You do beautiful work. I'm very impressed by your craftsmanship. I'm guessing your not a random diy guy with the skills and tool arsenal.

that a cool pair of sawhorse!
Check out the review of those sawhorses here: ruclips.net/video/UjizYYVmrAA/видео.html
Really enjoyed your video. It was a pleasure to watch you put this porch pirate box together.
Wooow brilliant Idea, thanks for sharing po😀
Yup sure. Just that simple. The biggest challenge was finding background music you could loop long enough to cover this epic film.
With all the tools this guy bought for this project your a couple grand invested into it. Not to mention this is wood and can be smashed/broken
Master craftsman.
Great job! You inspired me!
I hope u did replace the cord with something stronger like steel cable
I actually didn't. Neighborhood doesn't seem too interested in looting this box... yet.

I placed some foam at the bottom to cushion the fall for any fragile items. It seems to have done the trick.
Great job 👏

Add a Ring Alarm system that Wi-Fi to your phone
Pirates can cut the string and get to the packages. If they want them, they'll get them.
Do you know about how much the supplies cost?
Okay but if someone just opened it, then cut the string, they could access the packages.
I'm interested to know if delivery guys (Amazon, DHL, UPS, USPS, Fedex, etc.) actually uses it. You can put a sign I guess but people usually don't read lol
We usually have to tell them to put it in the box every time. So yeah, they use it but we have to tell them to use it. :)
Do you have building plans

Not to sound like a porch pirate... But all you have to do is cut the string.. :P
I cut the string and it's useless
Pity there's no link for the plans
Seems far to easy to just cut that cable and access the parcels
Can you provide the dimensions?
Two larger noteworthy flaws to the design though is is a neat idea overall.
