  • Soap making video for the Soap Challenge Club December 2019 - Black Tie Affair in the regular category - making soap with black and white with one accent colour.
Please always follow safety requirements while making soap! Sodium/Potassium hydroxide is caustic and can cause burns on skin or on mucous membranes!
Merry Christmas and wish you a happy new year!
This is my first attempt for this challenge and failed miserably! I aimed to make cosmic circles making a unique pattern from that but because my soap trace was obviously too thin for them to hold. This video also shows two ways you can cut the soap - Horizontally for a wood grain look and vertically for a completely different look. Which one do you like better? Let me know in the comments!
The colourants I used in this video were:
    White- Kaolin Clay
    Blue - Indigo powder
    Black - Activated charcoal
Essential oil blend: Lavender, lemon and cedarwood
    Time links to the video:
0:22 Mixing of lye solution and oils
1:13 Colouring of the white, black and blue portion
    1:52 In the pot swirl
    2:42 Pour of the soap
    3:30 Unmoulding of the soap
3:53 Cutting of soap - Horizontally
4:26 Cutting of soap - Vertically
    5:35 Finished photos
I actually like how the soap turned out - just not fit for the soap challenge. What do you think? Let me know in the comments. Thank you Amy for organising such a challenge again. For more information about the Soap Challenge Club: soapchallengec...
