I have to admit, the iPhone 8 Plus is still impressive, even though it’s six years old, it still performs well. due to their not being a proper successor to it, I appreciate it a lot more than the smaller iPhone 8 and the iPhone X.
Totally agree with you the iPhone 8+ was a total beast of a set and much better than it was credited for. Had it till Feb of this year and never felt it was too sluggish or unpleasant in anyway except for the degrading battery health that is a part of using the device as your main business phone for close to 4 years. Upgraded to 13 Pro Max but still miss the convince of a home button

I have been using iPhone 8 Plus since 2018 and it still gets the job done for me. I am not a heavy phone user but I am running out of storage after using it for the past 5 years. I am considering to upgrade to iPhone 15 pro max next month but if I wasn’t having any problem with my phone’s storage, I would have kept it for another year😅😅
Try the 15 Pro Max vs the 15 Plus and regular 15 in store. The Max phones feel very VERY heavy and chunky. The camera back is huge too. It was very hard to adjust to going from the 8 Plus.
My mom still has an iPhone 8 and she's close to 80 right now and I almost wish I never got her an iPhone because Apple has abandoned the touch ID and I don't have the patience to play IT for a full touchscreen experience LOL. But this phone has lasted 2 battery changes since release but still pushing. 💪🏽

I am OLED sensitive, the PWM hurts my eyes, can not use those for 5min， now I am using 8 plus, se3 and 11 , those are lcd screen very friendly to my eyes
iphone 8 plus was my first modern iphone so it has a special place in my heart lol if apple released a new iPhone with the exact same design as the iphone 8 plus with touch id with one of the newer bionic cpu, an oled screen, and bigger battery, i would pay same amount as the upcoming iphone 15 (base model so about $800?). Also, i prefered 16:9 screen because majority of content online on youtube, netflix, etc are all made in 16:9 aspect ratio. Sure a bit less real estate for web browsing but that never bothered me too much. But that would never happen

Last update for the 8 Plus is iOS 16.7.4. I keep my 8 Plus but not for calling, just to run on my WiFi. Again, I run this on “low battery” since the last couple of updates dropped it down from 93% to 85% over the past 6-8 months. That’s crazy if you think about it: it was only down to 93% after how old is this and I purchased it new…
I still have and use my iPhone 8 Plus. The downfall I have experienced is the battery drainage issues and my charging port quit working, so I had to get wireless charging to still use my phone. I wish my charging port still worked as I do not like the wireless charging. At least I can get a new battery to improve my IPhone 8 Plus. Other than that, I love my 8 plus and will probably use it until it crashes.
Check your charge port for pocket lint. I almost replaced my 8+ until i shined a light into the charge port and realized the pins were covered in compressed pocket lint. Get a toothpick and clean it out. Might get your charge port back!
Currently I am using an 13 it’s really great but I miss my 8 I love it, I still have it it works fine except sim and there r dead pixels on top side of the display
@@BasilMinhas yeah visually due to 120hz and in benchmarks but in day to day use Id struggle to tell the 11pro & 14 pro apart in speed when they arent side by side and even then its often the same or a second difference :( The 15 pro & pro max will finally be much faster though
Upgraded right before the announcement from 8 plus to 14 PM. Why the 14 and not 15? It's the last possible device that has a chance of being jailbroken. My 8 Plus is still jailbroken. Used it for 6 years. Still use it for Carbridge tweak. But 120hz is a real game changer and my battery capacity doubled. I can last 4 days effortlessly on the 14 PM. On the 8 P that was about 2 days.
Got the 15 pro max because they finally started re introducing the slightly curved edges which makes the larger phones much easier to manage. Hoping for a return to the fully curved edges of the original iPhone X and 8 plus so the larger phones are even easier to manage.
They could’ve had iOS 17 easily from my iPhone 8 even if they reduced some features, I would’ve been fine with that Touch ID was criticized for still being around on the SE3 so it should not have been criticized if it is still fine
Great video Nick! considering how much better the 8 performs than the 5s at the same age it should’ve got iOS 17. Hopefully the XS and XR last a bit longer than expected.
The thing most people don’t understand is that the modem inside these phones are just as important as the processor when it comes to speed tests, if it can’t retrieve the data fast enough than it’s going to be a limiting factor. That’s why phones like the Galaxy s23 ultra seem to load apps quicker even though the cpu isn’t as powerful as iPhones. It’s also why even older iPhones are only a hair slower than the brand new ones, the data speeds are the bottleneck. Snapdragon phones have better wireless modems.
