Good job, Colton! Just replaced the hatch actuator on my wife’s 2016 Sorento which is a manual hatch. For those little whiners whining about how to remove the panel: Use your eyes & head! Remove the handle and then the small plastic screw on left of panel beside actuator. When I did that the panel dropped enough for me to pull the panel down enough to remove the actuator WITHOUT taking the entire panel off! Your results may vary!! :) Caution: When pushing the panel back into place after new actuator installed be sure to line up the long thin black prongs on each side of the panel with the large hole. You may need someone to hold the panel in place while you’re seating those prongs AND then reinstall the plastic screw and then handle, all while holding the panel in place. Hope that helps as well! Straight forward though lacking how to remove the panel.
Man this was a shoulder workout lol. I was able to change the latch and it works now, but putting the panel back in place was a pain in the sack. I gotta try to finish it today. I was in the hot sun and got woozy tryna snap it back into place. Thanks for the vid.
did the latch being messed up cause it not to automatically open and when you press the buttons sometimes it stayed latched. I'm trying to diagnose this right now.
I don't have the auto hatch if that's what you're asking, just the manual hatch. Mine just quit latching after unlocking it one day. Had to bungee cord the door down so that no one could get in at my apartment complex while waiting for the part.
How do you open the latch from inside the truck? Does the truck get stuck if the temperature is over 94 degrees? Send the link for the part just in case I have to order them? Thanks!
There is a small plastic cover for the manual latch you'll have to pry off. Once it is off you'll use the white lever to pop open the trunk. Temperature doesn't seem to really make a difference. Seems like this connection is just a bit week. I used electric tape to put it together since it kept loosening. The link for the part is up in the notes for the video, for both the OEM and aftermarket parts.
It wouldn't lock or even latch on at all. Had to bungee cord the hatch to make sure no one could get in or a stiff breeze wouldn't push it open. New actuator made it lock and latch properly.
Really appreciate the video but could you actually show something. lol. The camera was all over the place as was the description. I know this sounds rude but it’s just advice for your future work my friend. 😊 tks

Absolutely on both counts! Takes a bit of patience to snap the panel back on.
Knowing that was a 10mm to take off the handle probably saved me days, thank you!
Happy it helped!
Thank you!
Thanks I was looking for the same thing and found your video . Thanks Alot

Does it still unlock using the remote or the manual button above the license
Late ?? How does the button connect with the actual latch ?.
thanks….dealer cant get us in for 2 weeks…..gonna attempt myself.
It's a pretty simple fix and definitely less of a headache than working with a dealer. Hope it goes well!

Was the issue that it did not lock with the other doors when the key fob was activated? Mine doesn't lock with the other doors.

Why wouldn’t you show the removal of the back panel to get to the lock 😒
Was about to say same thing. This video useless right now. Mine sticks most the time takes me a minute or 2 to open mine
What is that tool use for thank,an do you have the part number
Just a ratchet and a tab puller. A link to the part is in the notes.
might be helpful if you had someone hold the camera steady
