    Since when do sailing reporters not give us a basic overview of the prevalent wind conditions amymore?

    They say that these aren't meant to work in displacement mode, but 10kts is actually pretty quick compared to most everyday yachts.

      at the last non-foiling AC, they were doing 20 kts. i'd be curious to see which type would've been faster in this light breeze.

    Should never shorten the course in the middle of the race.
    Every thing could change with one more leg.
    I would throw a protest flag on the race committee.

    These are not light air boats. There should be a minimum wind condition for racing these foiling boats. On the other hand, AM is better in light air than Alignhi. Who would have thought the AM boat is better in light wind compare to the rest of the fleet.

    • @johnmartin7158
      @johnmartin7158 14 дней назад +1

      There is a minimum, that is why the last race didn’t go ahead.

      i mean i called it before the prelim regatta. go back and read the comments. in light conditions AM would run and hide with the win.

    Broadcast team / Announcers / Color Commentary;
    If you want to sound more professional or expert, or, if you will, cooler, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, maybe stop saying the whole sponsor names of the boats during the race.
    For example, having to hear, “Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli” the whole race gets rather monotonous and boring. Just the boat name or country will do fine, thanks.
    Another thing that’s great, is when you let us listen to the boat comms by keeping your mics muted.
    Keep up the great coverage!
    A faithful fan

      For coverage, I’m sure.

    It's interesting I am involved in rowing and I thought World Rowing was good at destroying their own sport. This demonstrates that the officials in this event are determined to do the same. What a pathetic example of a yacht race. I guess I can be happy that World Rowing don't shorten the race from 2000m to 1500m after the race has started!!

    Why did this happen again? last time in New Zealand the cup was troubled by light wind conditions regularly, how did they pick a location again which regularly doesn't have enough wind?

  • @WhatAboutTheBee
    @WhatAboutTheBee 14 дней назад +4

    Question: if conditions are so light, with insufficient lift, why not keep both foils in the water ? Surely being on foil, albeit with greater drag from two arms, is faster than displacement sailing.

They did so despite starting the competition with a 2 point handicap and despite being down 8 points to 1 at one point.
