    This video is very high quality. We are fully living this journey as if we are riding this endearing train ourselves. I love the Indian Railways and this particular one. These 200 km on a 2 foot track are an exceptional heritage to keep.

      Thank you Parminder. It was a superb day out which I hope to repeat towards the end of this year. I grow cacti from seed especially astrophytum varieties, euphorbias and lophophora as well as a few other favorites. Where is the seed technology in India?

    Hi Ramchandra. Thank you for your comment. Sumaoli is only about a third of the journey from Gwalior and is a passing place on the single line. There are about six locos in working order to operate the service which is always heavily used. The shed at Gwalior is easily accessed and the staff are friendly towards rail fans. I think that the route has been, or is going to be given protected status.

    Very interesting journey,what a congested track,is sumaoli last station? Is this route likely to get converted into BG line?

    • @northernlites_aura
      @northernlites_aura 6 лет назад

      ramchandra ingale it will be converted into broad guage but the narrow guage line passing through gwalior city would be uprooted and broad guage would run parallel to main line to be joined after 25 kms into narrow guage alignment as you can see it's been completely encroached in the city area.

    Must be one of the last few surviving narrow guage trains

    • @tonyhuckin9597
      @tonyhuckin9597  6 лет назад +1

      Yes and it travels a long way west from Gwalior. Hopefully it will be protected from conversion or even worse, closure. The shed staff seem dedicated to maintaining it.

    how does the interior look like ?

    • @tonyhuckin9597
      @tonyhuckin9597  6 лет назад

      The seating inside is bare boards and usually very crowded. There is very much a family feel to the company one travels with and there seems to be much interest in visitors from abroad coming to see their little railway and visit the small villages along the way.

    Yeah this line is closed now. They're converting it to Broad gauge (5'6") and electrifying it. Soon most Narrow Gauges and Meter Gauge lines would be gone except for the tourist traps.
