That 212cc engine will take you faster than you should ever go. Trikes like that are very unstable when making turns. Be careful. Also the engine will last longer and be more reliable if left stock.
Yeah I've been considering building a motorized trike but even just riding one without an engine they are hard to turn and tend to tip even a low speeds
Years ago we used a belt and two pulleys on our gocarts, and no clutch. The engine was on a hinge with a handle to push down to tighten the belt with a return spring.
How did you set up the sprockets? I am building the same thing but I am running into a problem making a hub with the three sprockets for the motor/pedal and then main drive? Biggest issue is how to connect the larger sprocket to the hub?
Im literally buying parts for this, began about 2 months ago. Is this a conversion kit trike? im planning on useing a conversion kit to make my electra rat rod cruiser into a trike, mainly because of the differential the conversion kits have. Good to see something like im building in action. Can we please get a parts list as well as a video on how you put this beast together?
Good stuff! I'm currently doing the same project with a Honda GX engine. Really hoping the engine will idle with a clutch to keep it as cheap as possible, since I got the trike and engine for free.
That’s cool! But I don’t think the clutch would work out because I had it before on this trike but it was really hard to get going and it wouldn’t idle. It would be interesting to see if it would possibly work out for you. Let me know if it works!
I'd love to see longer stronger triple up front with suspension bigger tire as well tilt it back a lil. Make it more stable and a smoother ride. Cheers
I can assure you it does. Hell I have 2 Schwinn Meridian Tricycles w\o engines and just peddling and turning you can easily flip them. And forget about mildly rough sidewalks unless you like Nutcrackers these are rough riding and can’t imagine putting an engine on a stock Schwinn Meridian unless you have great Life Insurance.😎

Nice trike bro! I’m interested in getting a trike project going for my son. He’s 14 do you have any advice? He’s never operated anything so what engine do you think is best for him? Thanks from Nick and Conner Niagara Falls Canada
Yeah thanks bro! The engine I am using is very good and cheap engine it runs and has great power this one might be the best because of pricing and power.
Hey man me and my buddy were actually going to do this exact same thing with and identical tricycle so its cool seeing that someone has successfully done it. I have a couple of questions that I hope you can answer for me about this build... 1) how did you solve this rear axle issue, meaning did you just leave the rear wheels independent like it came stock or did you have to install (or create) a new different axle that allowed for power to transfer to both rear tires? 2) and if you didn't mess with the rear axle(s) at all because there is power only going to the rear right wheel do you feel it pulling to the right at all while riding? Thanks again for posting this man, very cool.
From what I know about building these (I usually just stick to custom two wheel bikes) you just weld the sprocket into the axle and it drives both rear wheels.
I had to put a 60 tooth on my trike, but I only got 20 inch BMX tires on back. Still does 52 mph and wheelies if I dont lean forward at launch & keep weight on the pedals. 10 tooth front, no torque converter. Sprocket mounted on left rear wheel.
hey man I’m working on my own project I’m see if u could guide me to on how to make my own to ride as smooth as yours , it would really help out man nice work
Hey thanks bro. those front wheel bikes are cool there pretty fast too. But the trike handles a little off-roading but it you take it hard off-road the frame will crack. It sucks when it happens but I just use it for traveling.
