I had the fortune to have 2 races this close with this amount of respect, the "downside" was that it was virtual racing only, never the less loved it just like this. Oh and btw it was againts the same guy, we each had a "win" respectively.
They raced in the 1966 Le Mans and placed 15th (that was the first one won by the Ford GT40). It's basically a mini in a fiberglass body which could get up to 141mph down the Mulsane straight.
What a fabulous couple of cars! There no more cars like these nowadays! There are still various Elan´s and Mini Marcos in Portugal that appears in classic races! Stay safe!
Their heritage is all Lotus will have left when they go EV. Nothing they build now truly reflects the historic principles of Colin Chapman, so the marque is dead to me.
Thats a nice red colour on the number 48 Lotus Elite. I used to own an Elite after my father died. A nice blue Elite, it looked great in the Hawaiian sunlight my older sister in Seattle owns it now. I owned it for about a year. Fabulous little car.
Always a pleasure to watch a good dice between good drivers who know where the corners of their cars are, and who never feel the need to biff and barge when good driving will suffice. And why do we need to watch the rich boys in their V8s when this sort of spectacle is available? Driving beats dollars every time.
I once saw a race where it was the other way around, Elans vs. Corvettes. The Corvettes where blasting away at the straights, but the Elans where always catching them in the corners.
On more than one occasion I was rocking forward when the cars were in the straights, trying to give the Mini a little more momentum. Nick Swift is as good a driver as he is an engine builder.
Heart breaking for me to see a 275 being overtaken by these two little toy cars. Having said that I drove a 64 mini cooper S mock up and it still is one of my favourite cars i have had the pleasure of owning.
As I’ve said in previous mini Marcus videos. My dad used to weld chassis is for them & then found out a family friends dad used to race them it’s a small world
You are thinking of the Marcos GT, plywood chassis and fibreglass body from the 1960's. From approx 1970 they switched to tubular steel chassis as the plywood expensive to fabricate. Jackie Stewart raced a Marcos early in his racing career. See more on Marcos website.
Mini Marcos - possibly the ugliest mini based kit car, but vert light and great fun to drive! I drove one in early the 80's, with a 1380cc motor, it was very quick compared to the cars of that era. I would have loved an Elan but couldn't afford one.
Have you seen a tighter battle?
Nope, never
I had the fortune to have 2 races this close with this amount of respect, the "downside" was that it was virtual racing only, never the less loved it just like this. Oh and btw it was againts the same guy, we each had a "win" respectively.
That was incredible racing.
that elan is winking at me
Nick Swift is an absolute legend and a pleasure to watch. Awesome racing and sportsmanship.
Just one lap of this, was better than the entire season of F1.
Amen mate
😂
Ha!
THIS
Yes it was . Yes Sr indead .
Just 8 minutes of this was more exciting than the entire F1 season currently. Cheers and thanks for sharing!
Lol, that Elan makes the Mini Marcos look huge!
Nick Swift is my hero. Always driving the underpowered cars to the absolute maximum to make all of the higher horsepower drivers crap their pants.
8 minites more fun than the whole of an F1 season!
That's what you call entertaining racing!!
absolutely =)
no need for crashes or safety cars or anything else
great liveries, big readable numbers nd a lot of style from cars and drivers
Very close racing in very different cars. That’s the Way racing should be
I love these Goodwood videos! Best racing on the Tube.
Just wonderful, proper racing!
First time knowing of the Marcos. It’s a cute and happy looking car.
That's an unusual one. Well, they're all unusual, but your standard Marcos were a little bigger.
And I think they had plywood floors!

Each and every car is a character in itself. Lovely race :)
This was more fun to watch than all of the high dallor or pound F-1 racing combind .
I love watching Nick Swift Racing, he always seems to enjoy every race no matter where he finishes.
素晴らしいエランとミニマーコスのバトル!見入ってしまいました。昔のモナコF1でのセナとマンセルのバトルを思い出しました!!
When Nick Swift is in the race you know its going to be exciting!
I sat watching this on the edge of my seat, that was a blast!
Always so much fun to watch these little light cars, especially when nick swift is behind the wheel
What a fabulous couple of cars! There no more cars like these nowadays! There are still various Elan´s and Mini Marcos in Portugal that appears in classic races! Stay safe!
fantastic on every level and great sportsmen both of them
I would love to own a restored little Lotus Elan. Hope Lotus don't forget their heritage in moving forwards.

never seen this kind of Mini before, great racing
mini marcos
I think another Mini based one was the Unipower GT.
@@Radfordperson yes, a good looking car too
thanks for the info fellas, it seems Nick Swift rings these cars neck around a track

How on earth does that Mini stay cool with such a tiny inlet at the front? Amazing.
Love seeing these car race. So awesome
Loved that race, but so glad the Elan won. Better engineered and designed. 😊
BEAUTIFULLY driven, the Lotus Elan !!
That's old racing cars... 👍💪🔥💯🏁🏎️
Goodwood is awesome. Thank you.
The Mk1 Elan is the quintessential sports car in my opinion
What’s great about this kind of racing is a possibility to a reasonably successful person to race in this class
Nick swift changed my life. Seriously.
I once saw a race where it was the other way around, Elans vs. Corvettes. The Corvettes where blasting away at the straights, but the Elans where always catching them in the corners.
WHATTTTTTTT. NO DRS ??????
hahaha yes this is racing..
Good clean racing. Good clean fun.
That was a great little battle.
brilliant racing
Nick Swift seems to have more fun than anybody racing at Goodwood. You can just tell he's grinning ear to ear underneath that helmet.
On more than one occasion I was rocking forward when the cars were in the straights, trying to give the Mini a little more momentum. Nick Swift is as good a driver as he is an engine builder.
Damn..... very intense
Is 5Kat the automotive version of 5head?
I'm sorry....
Delicious driving, beautiful cars.
I’d happily watch Nick Swift racing a tricycle, because he’d somehow make it entertaining!
1:45 Lotus be like ( , _ ' )
...wow...what a great race... 😎👍

Never heard of a Mini Marcos. Looks alot like a toad but I do like it.
Incredible mini marcos
Up with SpeedWeek! Down with F1!
As I’ve said in previous mini Marcus videos. My dad used to weld chassis is for them & then found out a family friends dad used to race them it’s a small world
Didn't Marcos' have plywood floors?
Proper racing.
Intriguing body style. Those Mini Morcos' look more French than Brit for sure.
Didn't they have plywood floors?

@@andrewhicks9388 Oh wow. Very Cool!!! Didn't know all the details. Thanks for filling me in!
Yesterday I was watching a 3 hours video with many races and today I could not find the video to watch to other races. Did you delete the video?
Mini Marcos - possibly the ugliest mini based kit car, but vert light and great fun to drive!

N. Swift was trying his best for over taking Barrie. 😃
@phục êwê Yes
Never a battle for a 14th place had been interested. ;)
It's for the lead...
Lolololol! Brilliant!
Sweet
Waouh 👍👍👍👍
The Elan was running on standard skinny tyres.
Small-bore racing always feels more real.
Soooooooooooo much better than NASCAR and their demolition derbys
Misleading indeed, I’m still waiting to see the mini
Build Indian
Mini Marcos.
Not too difficult to figure it out
Kasper Kjærsgaard I know but just say it..we know what mini is
Is that the same man who chased an Alfa with a rattling mini?
I believe so, said it before Nick Swift for Prime Minister!
ITS THE SIGHT, SOUND, AND DRIVING SKILLS, NOT THE YAMMERING OF A FANATIC OVER THE BEAUTY OF THOSE ENGINES -- PARK IT!!!!!
Oh wow, I completely forgot about Mini Marcus xD
He'll of a race, HP wins again
Yeah incredible racing. Nothing comes close.
Mini marcos
Mini marcos
While the Mini has a less powerful OHV engine, the car itself is clearly more voluminous than the Elan.
Swift could get passed the Lotus but couldn't Shake it off.
i have a little marcos on my desk
But still the Lotus Is the King
Mini Marcos looks like pufferfish ..
mini marcos. (not mini)
Given that the MM is makIng 140hp, how can the talking head describe a deficit of 40hp as a 'little?' Ridiculous!
Exactly, it's getting on for 30% more power in the Lotus which is an enormous difference in racing.
a good metaphor for class struggle
this is real men racing. meanwhile in f1....
That MM is quite possibly the ugliest car ever made. It makes a Frog Eye Sprite look like an E-type!!!!
