Not gonna lie, I'm impressed. Not only the engineering, but the ability and skill. Personally, I would have connected the "reinforcing" steel with some tie wire. But hey, if it works...it works. Excellent work, congratulations.
Fair enough!
Yea the vast majority of it is just hard work.
why arent u gunna lie? why even tell us you're not lying? just don't lie. lol

Love the doggies hanging with ya when working also 👍
The last construction I just watched showed a small bridge that I thought 'oh that must be for his dog to walk across unimpeded by the following creek below...... even at night cause it it lit!'
Every time this man sees a small creek, I imagine the strong urge to build a damn or something like in this video just because he has some left over bricks and some sement
Yes. Thank you so much!
This feels like the fake pool people has moved into other content just to collect ad money and spoil their land and abandon each construction one by one
Since these are model hydroelectric dams they don't last long, but it's still very interesting to watch.
If anything these model dams would be very useful to examine the flaws with the system and therefore improve them.
Pretty inspiring work mate.
That's true!
I assume if you were to measure your water flow and mathematicaly scale it down. That could give you an idea where your currents are building and causing erosion would the water behave the same or would you see a much different outcome with a larger level of water. Obviously it would erode quicker but when scaling the dam up too your scaling the time that damage takes right?
@@swoopydoopy4851 The short and somewhat unsatisfying answer to the question of whether the rate of erosion scales with the size of the dam is "it depends on a bunch of geological and design factors". However, the engineering challenges associated with hydrodynamic effects such as erosion of spillways and undercutting of dam walls over time are basically solved problems at the civil project scale, although it's a pretty complex and specialised field of study. Search "computational fluid dynamics" to learn more about how these problems are modeled at scale. Obviously this guy is building these miniature projects for fun and educational purposes on a temporary basis, so he's probably not too concerned about the long-term effects of restricted/accelerated water flows.
and all the concrete, paint and steal that will emd up in the water....a miniature project but it reflects our behaviour in bigger projects as well....

I'd like to see some of your dams after a few years. Maybe you can make such a video showing the erosion occurred over those years. If you have build on top of soft soil, I'd also like to see how that looks, since the big dams need to implement strategies to keep the water away from the base of the dam.

@@Kijker-013 that's okay I'm not entirely sure he speaks fluent English. alot of his comments are thanking people, I appreciate the acknowledgement either way 😊
I'm not sure he needs to, have you noticed he generally builds generous spillways in that are always used - he is undersizing the powerplant each and every time he does this
@@AdamSmith-kq6ys that's a good point there's plenty of room for a pretty big increase in flow, and I know a few people mentioned it's unlikely they last that long anyway, not even the damn itself it's likely the river/creek will change direction pretty quick especially if it's not in a particularly urbanized area
This would be incredibly effective. The longer the tube the greater the delta P so the harder it can pull to spin a generator. Siphoning is king.

While it works great, you could make both flows connect into one larger which would then come to main turbine tube at an angle to give it some initial "rotation" and maybe make more efficient, I think

It would be nice to see the end result of what it can generate electrocity wise. If it for example powers lights in a nearby house or school or something
Normal light bulbs would probably already be a problem to power, even at half the brightness. But 1-2 high effiency LED lamps which can light a small room should work. It is just an estimation, as there are several other factors which have to be taken into account. As the dam is rather tiny and the water flow isn't much, the relatively small turbine can't rotate very fast. Simply said the force of the water which hits the turbine is not very high. If the trench and dam would be twice as deep and tall, the power generation would be way more than double that amount. Of course you would then need a sufficent water flow aswell.
But a power generation measurement tool would be very cool to see indeed.
I think it might be able to produce something between 10 and 20W Max =)
aha, so big dams generate much more power in comparison to their size

You should try using Pelton Wheels / Pelton turbines, and make a dam of some kind that is based around those turbines. Also maybe instead of making just dams you could make other infrastructure like water treatment plants and maybe even mini plastic pyrolysis factories (they turn plastic into fuel) and use the fuel the factory makes to power a mini generator/engine
Yes, thanks you very much 👍
No way you get more than 1/10kw out of this amount of water
@@kimberly4275 что за флаг у тебя?
In fact he could use a mini kaplan, he could generate a lot of power, it's not nonsense.
i take these as being a bit of fun between rice harvests. plenty of water, irrigation canals, flat land...
flat land doesnt work well with peltons.
as much as i like them.
low head, they want fully submerged turbines... francis and the like. pressure turbines.
the turbine is where these guys are letting themselves down. a few paddles stuck to a rod isnt exactly efficient at converting that potential energy.
what little there is.
quick calc... assume 20L/sec, 1M fall... 200 joules, and every second, for 200W. at best, get 50% of that... the ideal turbine slows the water velocity to half (just like a pelton is best spun at half the water velocity) to extract the most power. their idea of a "turbine" just isnt up to the task.
100W. perfect turbine, perfect generator... lol. 70W at best. better than nothing.
constant. steady.
these guys are lucky to make 1/2W...
i'd kill to have this sort of flow through my place. even if its only over a few meters of fall.

That is really cool but hold on... you went through all that effort and then secured your turbine blades to the shaft with hot glue? I find hot glue to be unreliable even with light crafting projects. That hardly seems like something that will last long.
Not made for the long run...probably deconstructed by the time we see it.
@@rustythecrown9317 awww, that’s kinda sad. I guess if he’s going to keep making videos, there’s only so many waterways he can dam up.
