Dave has a good heart, but that really leads to lots of depression and shit. Its hard being kind and staying that way when most people are shitty in life. He takes moral values and religion a lot more seriously than the guys in Metallica who were more "care free, idgaf attitude". But that was when they were kids, I think Dave forgets they've matured a lot.

I do see where you'd think that, but... mustaine is a trained fighter in multiple (practical) martial arts. Judo, Kickboxing (under Benny The Jet), and I think he has a black belt from some full contact Karate gym in AZ. The only time it came to blows between them, it was 2 vs 1, hetfield wound up getting knocked on his ass, and the other guy (original metallica bassist) got thrown on his head. Granted, that was decades ago, but my point is that I don't think arm size is an issue for mustaine. I think it's purely dick size between those two, musically speaking.
@Old Mate ok so I just checked, and as I thought, you're confused. There's nothing online about Hetfield even taking bjj, let alone getting belted, let alone by Royce, who, to my knowledge, doesn't teach. Mustaine, on the other hand, has a bjj brown belt.
Dave was a raging alcoholic who was nearly impossible to work with at the time. For fuck sake stop making excuses. There's a reason Metallica has retained the same 3 people for over 40 years meanwhile Dave is the only consistent member of Megadeth

Knowing a person when they were a kid, does NOT mean you know who they are 30 and 40 years later. I know this was said long before Dave had his big living moment where he actually "grew up" , but that's the fact that he's forgetting when he said this. People grow up and change lol
A lot of my teens and 20s was spent trying to change who I was. The person I am in my 30s is closer to who I was as a kid honestly. And what my parents taught me was right and wrong
Truth. 20 years ago I parted ways with a friend who's 13 year old self would have beat the shit out of the person he became 14 years later. He died 6 months ago, a victim of his own making. People don't always change for the better.
I'm a completely different person at 42 than i was or anyone who knew me could've ever imagined when I was in my 20's. Granted there were reasons & I had catalysts for change. Some people actually do grow, mature, let go of their excuses & the playthings of their youth in order to overcome the obstacles in their path. There will always be people who won't &/or can't, maybe they're not ready to. It does take introspection + a willingness & determination to do the work thats required, & thats likely why few people are capable of change, its a choice. People can & do change, if you don't believe that then you should quit allowing yourself bullshit excuses for the sake of comfort & laziness. Excuses won't help you when you're called upon to act your age, & they're ineffective against reality, you can take that to the bank. Discipline, ethic, resolve, knowledge, strength, & pride are not attained with time, they are earned. The value of each is above any monetary or physical worth, I would not be the man i am today without having chose to pursue goals that remain. Metal rusts, everything is taxed & returns to the earth, the knowledge & honesty you choose for yourself will serve you until death. People are capable of change & growth, anyone can attain both. Sadly its much easiertoday to criticize others & console your own lack of progress, but thats a choice, whether you acknowledge it of not
Its strange how he always supports james and put down Lars. Yet james was the always taking shit while Lars did not seem like he wanted any bad blood or public drama

And Lars is not interested in dave s tactics and games for publicity. At the end of the day, they respect each other professionally and thats it.
Of course it hurt, he was a troubled teen, but they had dreams and they got rid of him. He still made it though, by himself and still had to listen to people comparing him to Metallica
Dave and Cliff were the heart and soul of Metallica. Their songs are the best by far. Nothing Metallica has made since can even hold a candle to their stuff!

to be fair, this interview was conducted in the early 2000s
40 years later still not happy
Dave has a good heart, but that really leads to lots of depression and shit. Its hard being kind and staying that way when most people are shitty in life. He takes moral values and religion a lot more seriously than the guys in Metallica who were more "care free, idgaf attitude". But that was when they were kids, I think Dave forgets they've matured a lot.

"Curse you Hetfield, always one step ahead of me! WHY WON'T YOU LEAVE ME ALONE!!"
Dave only knows the James he met in 1981.
there s several pics that re surfaced where Dave is backstage with Lars, Cliff even James in 1985,1986, 1988, 1990, 1993 ( toured together ), 1999 woodstock..
there s some issues but it wasn't as mean than people made up.
And he didn't meet him later on??? Don't try to act smart man. "He only met him in 81" bull. Dave means that James is depicted to be that amazing guitarist and singer of metallica but Dave knows him as the average buddy. He knows the flaws and the goods while others just see the goods. Dave Doesn't give two fucks about him being in metallica he just cares about the good times they had.

James Hatfield is a high level BJJ artist (black belt) under Royce Gracie so I think he can handle himself in any situation

@Old Mate ok so I just checked, and as I thought, you're confused. There's nothing online about Hetfield even taking bjj, let alone getting belted, let alone by Royce, who, to my knowledge, doesn't teach. Mustaine, on the other hand, has a bjj brown belt.

Yeah but instead of Dave and James. Have both bands in a room and have orgy and been done with it.

Dave's just answering the question honestly. It looks like Dave knows the interviewer is trying to get a rise out him, and calls him on it. I get the feeling a large number of people won't view it as a genuine statement that he is just doesn't feel like talking about it anymore. People just love drama.
