These angry, bitter, and unnecessarily harsh & rude comments on a High School production is all the confirmation I need that humanity has failed. You guys did a great job on a difficult scene!
That this is a high school production is mind boggling to me, this is really really good! I hope they are thriving now, and that they are proud of the work they did on this!
not that they need some random guy on the internet saying this. but this was amazingly done. this was one of my favorite parts of the movie and they did it perfectly.
I hope you decided to not use this as a reference as it's a horrible performance. Watch the broadway version dont sell yourself or the audience short and do anything remotely close to this embarrassment
@@ckrause81 This is an incredibly difficult part in the musical for everyone involved. Sometimes you have to bring the acting down a notch to make it work. It's clear to me from the easier bits that everyone here has some real talent. Could Roxie's movement be more polished? Maybe. But this is still one of the better performances I've seen.
I feel like his emotional representation was well done, In the movie Mr.Flynn sorta had a cocky and professional characteristics, also considering that this song is a bit tough to sing because of its tongue twisters, I was Ms.Sunshine for my theater program production of Chicago and it took all of us a while to just get the hang of singing "oh yes oh yes oh yes they both oh yes etc" so he must of been in a load of focus. i respect your opinion and i'd like for you to do the same with mine.
Well stated. It's one of the trickier rhythms in all of musical theatre. I teach young people musical theatre. I haven't done "Chicago" yet (It's only a matter of time) and that song would require extra emo time. As for Billy being more emotional. If I directed him I'd ask him for that but the truth is when actors onstage they do what they do. Ultimately I feel like he hit all his marks but a little more personality, irreverence and sarcasm would have made it outstanding rather than very good.
Yeah, I understand that he's a ventriloquist, but he needs to have emotion. I myself have done this song in front of a audience, just in the last week, and the one thing that people love and that makes them laugh is the charm and sarcasm of the great Billy Flynn. I believe that this was a good performance, but it could have been a amazing performance if the kid playing Billy had put a little more life into his character.
All of them was like robots there , the only one can be less emotional was the singer becouse if he move so much probably his voice change completely , in his pleace I was doing playback and put more emotion in the movement
it seems you get one or two versions of the "dummy" either robotic with no emotion or a full puppet where they over exaggerate emotions like a puppet would
These kids are going to be on Broadway one day. The fact they did this in highschool is just amazing. And for all the critics .... Yeah okay it's not perfect. But they also aren't even old enough to buy a pack of cigarettes yet so let's give em a little bit of slack, yeah? I think it was phenomenal! You all did a fantastic job and if you keep working at this you'll all be famous one day 🙂❤️ this whole performance took A LOT of talent.
Love this but I bet that there were more professional back dancers. Also for the Billy role, I think boy need to be a grave impression. On the other hand, girl was really matched with Roxie. Very impressive show. Thanks:)
Roxie slayed this scene and was my fave that ive seen the chorus/reporters on the other hand ehhh they werent bad and did some hings right but idk im really not trying to offend anyone
This was the worst roxie performance ever! And the singing was all over the place in pitch and rhythm. Whoever put this on should have had the sense to know the limits of their actors and what they had to work with.
@@anial6496 my issue isn’t with his skill my issue is with that he can do it for his lines but not the puppet lines. In the movie and Broadway musical there’s both distinct emotions in those lines of the song despite the gag of the dummy and puppeteer. Not to mention different pitches of voice which for a teen should be easily achievable. I’m not saying he’s not good just that the he could improve aren’t hard.
@jacksonmccarthy5470 you can never know what's hard for other people... you don't know him or what the director has told him to do... again... for a high school play this is amazing... it is not broadway... it's sad that you can't just appreciate the efforts of these students and just nag about it. And again... if you as a teen... in this play, in this difficult scene infront of your peers would have done it perfectly (assuming the director didn't tell you to do it exactly as he did) then I would understand why you might think that you would just be nagging about it... Maybe just learn to appreciate their efforts especially when you couldn't have done it better and don't know why they might have chosen this approach
he just seemed miserable. I understand the song was hard but if he just put a bit more into his facial expression then it would have been an AMAZING performance. It was still very good though
@jonathandpg6115 I would be surprised if you had done this half as good as these high school kids... you do realise that this is not Broadway... and if you want to judge like that you should be able to do it better others you're just bitter and can't appreciate teenagers performing a very difficult scene in front of their school, parents and peers...
Ughhh. They look sp bored and stiff. The choreography is horrible. They lost all of the fun. They rush through certain parts like the harmony between Mary and Billy which is supposed to be ease slowly into seduction. But drag through the entire first part.
Ikr! It was lacking personality and emotion on an epic scale. It's like the actors didn't even want to be there, and I'm sure neither did the audience😂
Bro, you're so bitter... I bet my cat you couldn't even do it half as good as these high school students.. so go judge yourself before you judge others like that ....completely uncalled for
@@iluvtheweeknd4lyfe if you watch performances of real puppets you’ll learn their movements are stiff and rigid like a robots. They have a fluidity to them it’s just extremely uncanny and awkward looking to the eye. Exaggerated if you will like slumping over or throwing your arm up only for it to come back down to slap yourself.

If well means off pitch and rhythm...than yes, he did well
I actually am inclined to agree with you it was very cute.

Heath Rawls did u get the part?

It was an incredibly ackward performance. And the singing is so off

well done the tempo is a bit slow but really good
FancyCatStudios it’s not just the tempo speed, they can’t stay on tempo
it’s a high school band it isn’t gonna be superior
Why does this miss sunshine look and sound like Effie trinket from hunger games
Oh I think they did a phenomenal job!! That’s not easy! I’m sure they put their own spin on it. Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Tbh, i would prefer the "dummy" with a little more life :)
This is a playful song and scene as well, ofc is more harder that way...

Great job done to these high school kids for tackling a difficult professional number.
we were babies omg ...
Right? Fun to rediscover these videos
Great job guys👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That was wonderful!
Pretty damned well done.
The guy playing Billy reminds me a little the actor Topher Grace, when younger.
Really well done!
What a super job. That is a tough number and they did their group very proud

oh my god the energy from the whole cast!! AAA!! the ensemble actually looked like they wanted to be there 😭😭
WOW!

Well... They did a good job.

does anyone know where she got the dress? im also roxie but i been struggling finiding good costumes haha
it looks handmade to be honest. I'm doing costumes for this production rn and finding roxie a blue dress was a nightmare

Their characters didn't need to smile in this scene. It depends on the actors/directors if they interpreted it with the characters smiling/smirking.
