We have 3 of this class sitting off the East Coast of Australia as part of 12 cruise vessels that will not leave our waters. They have brought coronovirus to Australia and over a third of our total deaths and 25 percent of all of our cases have come from these floating disease carriers. When this is over the cruise business will never be the same because many countries will no longer permit ships carrying 5000 passengers to simply let these people disembark freely in a port without stricter quarantine and port health restrictions, if indeed cruise passengers will be allowed to disembark at all.

I'm sorry if this is a repeat question. But, why is the ship going all that way backwards? Why was it not turned around before heading down these waterways? Any answer would be appreciated.
It's easier to maneuver the ship backwards through the narrow river. Also, the flotation depth is less because the Azipods are pushing water under the ship.
This river called Ems is 6,30 meters deep. Too low for the cruise ships. So whenever one is to be transported over the river into the sea they temporary dam it up to 8,50 meters and go at incoming tide which lifts the ship additionally.
Saw this ship today as it currently docked in a Pier in Manila, Philippines. Such an awesome sight to see up close from Luneta Park and still visible 6km away from SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
That wasn’t launching but towing. Launching leads most people to believe its put in the water from dry land for the first time. Such a misleading title, very disappointed 😔 with the video.
We use to build ships but the jobs were shipped overseas . All of our dry dock sit there with high price apartments that I'll never be able to afford to live in. A shame wgat happened ro the industry in the USA I almost feel ashame how this country went from making to taking . The down fall of a once great nation. Build Germany keep the ship builders making money.
