There are two schools with those combat animations: the extremely imporessive almost ridiculous such movement one, and the more realistic one. I prefer realistic animations for a game like Skyrim, but I'm so glad and grateful there are so much stuff for every taste. What a time to be alive!!
I prefer the Dragonborn to fight like someone worthy of that title. He's supposed superhuman if you're playing as a human, giving him realistic fighting will only go so far.
@@badconnection4383 I hear you, but if the dragonborn feels too overpowered and if he just attacks jumping around and all like Yoda in Star Wars II and III, it feels impressive, yes, but to me, it is just too much =o as if he is not a part of the world he's supposed to live in. To each his own, and oh my god there are so many possibilities with mods that EVERYONE can create their own dragonborn =D
This style of fighting is very eastern Fantasy, where you have your warrior-magic-monk style of combatant. Similar to Elden Ring, which is made by Eastern guys. Personally, I don’t like the blend. I can’t stand the dodge roll.
this is one of the best animation showcases as there are multiple styles of animations and great demonstrations. Downloaded three of them immediately 👌
Ever since I first started playing Skyrim I was drawn towards wanting to play a martial artist who was proficient with a bo staff. Unfortunately, the only animations for fighting with such a weapon at that time were really, really bad, and I just had to pretend that my character was wielding the weapon properly. But as the years went by modders started to create movesets that really did begin to look more authentic. And finally, last year I discovered the mod "ADXP I MCO ER Twinblades" and was able to replace the twinblade weapon with an actual combat staff from "Animated Armory". and "Voila!" . . . I had what truly looked like a shoalin monk dancing and moving around while twirling his bo staff in a very authentic way! I combined this very easy to use weapon animation with another mod, "Olivier Martial arts for MCO" , for authentic looking kung-fu style kicks and punches, and am now in the midst of a playthrough with the martial arts character that I always dreamed of playing! I am amazed at the quality of work being done by today's modders. These new animation sets truly are breathing new life into an 11 year old game!
Idk if I’m actually going to use this right now, save your gasps but I’m actually in the middle of my first ever real playthrough of Skyrim. Always got distracted every time I went to play previously. I have a light mod list of mostly vanilla + type stuff (and of course Ordinator). But I’m seeing these combat overhaul mods for the first time and it’s absolutely blowing my mind. These people doing this shit are geniuses, full stop. Unbelievable. Doesn’t even tangibly look like Skyrim, looks like a fun indie action RPG released circa 2020+
I was on the fence regarding smooth moveset for a long while as I've been enjoying the elden rim set sinve its release, but honestly I'm glad I switched. You can mix and match and let some overwrite the others, both are great
I was hoping for attack animations that were more "fantasy" and "anime" and you gave me some good ideas for them. Thanks a lot. I think I'm basically a huge Eskyrim fan now.
Very nice animations I personally use the for honour in skyrim animation pack as I try not go over board with effects stuff so a very good choice indeed 🎉
That conjuring staff mage and sorcerer combat combat animation is so nice. Ill even consider the harry pothead animation. Im prone to mage playthroughs so those suit my playstyle well.
the one thing that's killing me on these movesets is the lack of strafing, every time you engage an enemy you're all up in their grill and it feels like you're just bashing them with your pommel
Man, I swear, i tried installing a katana animation mod, but I couldn't make it show up in game. Something about changing keywords, or customizing OAR or something, but I to this day couldn't find a good guide to adapting animations to existing weapons on Skyrim.
Hi sorry if this is a stupid question but I have watched a fair few of your videos and you seem to do a lot of content in the location shown from 0:16 to 0:23, I was wondering if you could tell me where this is or if it's an area added by a mod specifically for content creation? Thank you!
I really like the adxp mco nordic animation combat complete pack. Covers all weapons including the likes of spears. Its fairly grounded and not flashy like elden ring movesets. The only thing I find awkward is lack of running/sprint attacks. I use eivor mco adxp sprint attack for the player, but sadly can't find any for NPC's. So they awkwardly use vanilla sprint attacks. Its pretty solid for an all in 1 solution for a more realistic approach. The problem with elden ring and dark souls movesets is they're not really meant for tackling multiple enemies and require fast dodges, which skyrim combat isn't built for and even with mods its not fully satisfying. But a more realistic one can be implemented into skyrim's combat much better.
Do you have a recommendation for a 3rd person movest that goes along well with the new first person animations mod? I just want something that's more toned down like that mod is without being OP or having some long drownout combos.
