I have no idea how to play this game and played with my Mexican friend who loves soccer and knows how to play.....he beat me like 5-0.....

Offside - When an attacker is past the last defender at the moment the ball is played to him. Or is a pass is played forward from someone already off side.
It's so simple how do people not know it
Simple translation:
When you pass the ball to a teammate who is behind enemy lines.
Not really accurate though. It might not be past the last defender but still offside if the goalie is ahead of the ball.

As you have absolutely no knowledge of football whatsoever you just think because it looks the same, it is the same. When in fact there is a monumental difference in the gameplay from Fifa 13 to Fifa 14, and tons of changes and modes added and improved massively. So before judging the game first actually play it, instead just being a jump on the bandwagon non-football fan hate on FIFA troll.

As an Englishman who has been brought up as quite an avid football fan since birth (Come on SAFC) and a FIFA player, this was rather hard to watch.
Hard to watch, but funny. I'd like to see them play again now that they have some of the basics down.

Well, by basics I mean most of the time they were hoofing the ball in the right direction at least. Plus they kind of figured out what corners and throw ins were.

Will It's not when they receive the pass though, it's when the ball is passed, so you can actually make the run with no defenders. The two player rule includes the goalie, so it's only one defender.

gazat123 no he said 2 players have to be in front of you which isn't true, there has to be a opponents defender closer to opponents goal than you at the moment of passing or the ball must be in front of you. in these cases you're not offside

Just so everybody knows the sport was originally called soccer but was only played by the upper class. When poorer people started playing the game they didn't know the name and called it football because you kick the ball. THE MORE YOU KNOW!!!
That's completely untrue. Football, as it developed in the UK, was started as a annual game played by an entire village population. It was just a huge mob of people carrying the ball, trying to get it to their side of the village.

As far as I know soccer was a nickname given to Assoc. Football by the english. So I don't know why they get so offended when it's used.

natekproductions1 No, the offside rule does not mention any 'goalkeeper' at all. There are just players. There have to be any 2 opposition players further ahead. Just because *normally* one of those 2 players is a goalkeeper, it doesn't mean that's in the rule.
