We just updated a 2017 Ford Fusion with Sync 3.0 to Sync 3.4 this afternoon on one of the sales reps vehicles. Took about an hour total from download to final install. This is with updated software and the latest map collection for this generation. The owner was complaining about laggy display and poor overall user interface. Now everything works. Thanks for the video and the link for the software.
Just did this update tonight. Coming from Sync 3 version 2.2 and maps from 2014 on a 17 Fusion it took 26 minutes. After the master reset it worked flawlessly. Much more responsive and smooth. Even the back up camera seems to have a higher FPS. Top notch guide and a great program. 👍
Just update this afternoon. Extremely easy to do. Moved my 2018 Explorer from 3.0 to 3.4. Also upgrade my maps for 2/20 to 2/21.Thanks for this great video!
Just updated my 2018 Ford Fusion from sync 3.0 to 3.4. Thank you!! My radio was so slow before and I thought I needed a new APIM module. Now it looks great AND it’s not slow anymore! I love you, your video, and this was the best thing for my car. Thank you
@@DIYReid i just updated mine to 3.4 a few months ago using Cyanlabs. A few people in the Facebook Groups experienced the loss of logos as well. Hard to figure out what caused it..
Works great, helped me upgrade a 2017 Fusion from factory version to 3.4 with recent map update. One issue I had came across was the maps not loading (after it restarted, post-completion) but a good ol' "turn it off and turn it back on again" fixed it. No way was I going to pay $100+ for something that only required 30 minutes of my time and a USB 😂
I did this install today on my 2016 F150 King Ranch, installed with no issues, all accessories work as before. The only thing I had to Sync was my phone with the upgrade and connect my WIFI. Sweet looking upgrade, they had 2020 maps available so that is what I installed along with everything else.
Just did this today on my 2018 F150 with nav. The website has changed some, so beware of that. You won't be able to follow this video exactly, but the process is the same. I was very concerned of bricking my perfectly good radio, but I took the chance and it worked perfectly. I had to resync my phone, but all other settings and radio presets were saved.
Worked as published. 2016 Ford Taurus SHO with updated USB hub for Apple Car Play. Updated from Sync 3 3.0 build 19205. Took 5 min to update Sync, Nav Update finished at the 18-20min mark, Voice nav finishe at the 25:15 point, and Grace Notes finished at the 27:21 point. System response seems to be quicker including Apple Car Play. Only issue I noticed is that the Nav was drifting around the neighborhood for a few minutes until it finally seemed to settle on my location. Also, as a note, my car notified me of an auto engine shutdown at 30 mins, so if you plan on leaving your car running unattended you may want to check that the engine doesn't shut down on its own during the install.
The build I used last night was 3.4 22200, and the Maps version NA_2_21 in my 2015 F150 that I upgraded the Sync2 to Sync3 APIM. Make sure you use a UNB3.0 it has faster transfer speeds. I drove into town and back home it took about 28 minutes to update.
thank you! I've watched a few of these videos and wasn't able to get it done. This one worked on my 2018 F150. Sync 3 to 3.4. FYI, a 32 GB thumb drive was not enough. I changed to a 64 GB and boom! It worked perfectly. Cheers
I am so NOT a techie! Given that, I was 1000% reliant on trusting the process and following all instructions exactly as outlined. My first attempt of updating from SYNC 3.0/Maps 2016 (for my 2018 Ford Explorer), I messed up when downloading the software by not toggling the switch to indicate that my system included Navigation: result was that that SYNC 3.0 got updated and my Maps became non-functional (error message, of course, to go to the dealer!) So I went back to download the software again using same USB and it gave me an option to just update Maps (because I finally toggled properly to let the website know that my original system did have Navigation capabilities) which I did. After downloading the proper Maps to the USB, I re-did the Updates in my vehicle and VOILA!!! I now have Sync 3.4/Maps 2020. THANKS FOR ALL THIS INFO AND careful guidance. Even though I messed up initially, it was not a fatal error; instead it was actually an easy fix. Who knows how much $$ I saved.
Awesome video. step by step. It is a bit different because the program has updated. But very similar. It took 30 min on mine 2016 ford flex. It was glitching dropping the calls freezing you name it. Once it is complete i took it for a spin. It worked like a charm with the new look. Thank you very much!!!!!
Currently in the process of doing this on my 2018 Raptor! Currently has Sync 3.0, but I am upgrading to the 3.4 with the 2021 Maps. I am downloading the software onto my USB and look forward to following up on my comment when I can plug my USB into my truck
Update: everything went successful and i love the new look! Thank you for your clear cut instructions. Took me 30 mins to download the software in the car, I just drove around the city in the meantime. Are we supposed to Master Reset after we are running the new 3.4 software or do we leave as is? I don’t want to mess anything up lol
I successfully updated my Sync 3 on my 2018 F150 today. It fixed the bad delay while pressing screen buttons. The USB took a good 10 minutes just to start booting then 25 minutes to complete.
Best presentation so far. My question, I just had the sync system replaced as it was DOA when I bought my used 2018 Ford Focus ST. How do I know if the new part is 2020 or newer? I don't want to brick it as I spend about $1200 replacing the radio and controller.
Thanks for the video. It worked great for me on my 2018 f150 lariat. Gives it a more modern feel. Just did it today 12-11-2021 they now have a 2 20 maps update.
Are there any risks when doing this? I have a Ford Mondeo ST-Line 2017 with Sync 3.0 and I am quite unsure about this. Could there possibly fail anything, such as compatibility problems or maybe hardware compatibility issues?
Great detailed instructions. Thank you very much for this tutorial. I have a 2015 Mustang GT and it came with the sync2. I updated to sync3 about a year after owning. But this was great. I’ve tried updating through the radio but never was able to get any updates. I had version 2.2. I was able to update to 3.0 using another Vin # through ford but when I tried to do 3.4 I’d get the error message. Good thing I came across your video by chance. I just have a quick question. Would I be able to have the ford racing logo or even the running pony like I did before updating to 3.4? If so how or does it do it on its own by recognizing the car itself?
@@davidharris9439 No sir. The first installation I only lost the controls for my massage seats, but I re-ran the software and everything was there after the second time. If I were to do it again, I would break up the installation. I would only update Sync from 3.0 to 3.4 and verify that everything is working. If it's good, then I would then update NAV from 2019 to 2020. In my case my 2018 came with NAV from 2015, which was odd but it's all current now.
Hello❤, I have navigation, but can i just do the update without navigation checked... I just want the interface change and update navigation later but still want to use the old maps navigation. Thank you for all your work, great video!😊
Updated!, works like a charm. I did not choose the navigation part and now my navigation gives a "error go to dealer" notification. Im going to upgrade again with the maps included and i really hope this will solve my problem, because navigation was working fine before. 🍀
Very nicely made video! I'm going to try this on my 2017 Taurus. When it updates, will I have to re-pair all my bluetooth devices and as well as put in my home/favorites in the navigation again?
Well done vid, thank you! Have a 2017 Escape. The Nav system was so bad that we installed tomtom...Ford wants $109 for one time map update and the nav system will still be crappy I assume. Our tomtom came with lifetime maps for the same price and we don't have to suffer through the horrible Ford voice prompts.
DIY Reid, This worked perfect on my 2016 Ford Escape Titanium. My question is say this becomes problematic down the road, are you able to do a master reset and have it revert to the original version?
Hey random question! I have a 2017 ford raptor with sync 3.0. Do you or anyone in the comments know if you update the system to the latest sync version, will I lose my ambient lighting and all the colors? Right now I can change colors and wasn’t sure if the update would take that away and just make everything the ice blue color. Thanks.
Wow. Glad I found this. I have a 2015 Ford F350 Super Duty. I have the NAV system but the maps are on an SD card. Will this process work for mine as well given the maps are on an SD card?
Hello I wanted to ask you for information by doing this update the lights of the pedal board always remain functional as before or are eliminated and in addition the navigator that is in the dashboard the one near the odometer that is connected with the Sync still works or even eliminated too ? Thanks
Can you help!!!! I had a box that popped up!!! This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action, Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Aps Settings page. What should I do? Thanks, Mark
Worked great. I did the update in my 2017 escape titanium. First I updated to the latest version Ford put out on their website then I followed this video and it went smooth with no issues. The only thing that doesn't work is the Ford pass app. Before I did the 3.4 update I did a master reset on my radio and this removed me from the Ford pass app. I tried adding the car again and when it says to accept it on the radio screen it never pops up. Any idea on how to get this to work?
Thanks for this a couple of questions.1. I didnt see Carplay in your video, its still installed in 3.4 right? Also my 2-3 upgrade came with a GPS connector and my V2 Sync unit had Navigation. IF I install 3.4 with navigation should it all work. I ask because the 3.4 version I ordered I ordered without Navigation, but I am thinking I can add it back in in the 3.4 upgrade. Thoughts appreciated?
Yes. CarPlay and android auto are still there. If your vehicle doesn’t have navigation now it won’t have it updating. Sync 2 uses an SD card to store the maps which is why you could enable it on that. Sync 3 stores is on the APIM module.
@@DIYReid so to be clear my Sync 2 did have navigation and a card slot in the glove box. My Sync 3 unit seller asked me if I wanted it and I said No (thinking I would save given I largely use WAZE) BUT it did come with a GPS cable, I was thinking they made a mistake and it was enabled for navigation AND IF I installed it in Sync 3.4 it would work. Don't really need it as I have a phone BUT why would I have a GPS cable, suggests its ready just not installed no? Figured if it was capable I may as well install it. QUick other question (sorry to be a pain) I still have the ultimate back out because I have my original factory fitted Sync2 (so guess having V3 or V3.4 makes no difference from a warranty standpoint. BUT IF I brick the 3-3.4 upgrade can I get back to V3, is there a way to back it up etc? Much appreciated.
For those looking at this now (2023), the warning about cars manufactured in 2020 is different and requires the opposite answer than he tells you at about the 8 minute mark, so just be aware.
Hey mate Did this update put extra features in sync that is incompatible with your car (i.e dead buttons)? Looking at doing to it my 2017 Ford Everest but don't want dead buttons on the screens.
Hello thanks for the Tutoriol After updating does all car features that's related to the infoteament system work fine Like (auto park , reverse camera , blind spots and sensors ) ? Also does the right productive screen on the instrument cluster work ( media , navigation , phone option )? Also the voice command? Fordpass app? is every thing still working as it should ?
I have ford fusion sync 3.0 with navigation The region for the screen, navigation is US region Now iam using the car in middle east (jordan) Can change the screen , navigation region to Middle east By doing that steps except For car configuration choose US region then for new version to download select middle east then map version for middle east Is that possible? Thank you in advance
Brother i have ford edge 2016 USA specification with sync 3 and navigation usa maps , do i can install the new version with middle east map ? Cus the car now with me here in united arab emirates
In the advanced options, I do not have the Show All releases switch, but I do have a switch that says "Toggle MY20 Protection", do I turn that on or no
Currently trying it out on our 2016 ford expedition el ext so its sync3. It reset and told me to pull out the usb which i didnt and after it booted back up it was still version 3.0....it saying updating again so lets see what happens next stay tuned.
i bought a sync3 for my 2013 edge a couple years back off ebay and its seams that it came from a for explorer becasue when i search for bluetooth is say "ford explorer" instead of sync. sync3 im on version 3.0 18093 works fine but wont let me update to 3.4. help??
You may need first to check for the update from ford.owner.com It will ask you about your VIN number and will provide you the correct update . If it's giving you kind of 3.02154 or something, you have to do it first .
2017 F150 everything updated, but lots my NAV. Everything else works but my nav just says loading for days now..I had the nav option checked to.on when doing the usb stick. Re flashed working now 👍
One question, please: What does it mean to not have navigation? Is it when it doesn't appear within the version and build page, or when you don't have a navigation tab? Because I have the navigation tab, but I can't see the navigation version. Thanks.
@@DIYReid It means that I should have the navigation unchecked because I don't have the navigation version in the info page, otherwise, does it risk damaging or doing something?
Thx for letting us know, I have Sync 3 and wasn’t sure if it was worth upgrading to 3.4 since it seems like it’s only an appearance difference with no real benefits...
2018 mustang gt going from 3.0 to 3.4 getting error message on install and now stuck on the update screen? What do I do now and I’m screwed? Gonna try again build numbers were Correct
Im looking to upgrade my 2017 F150 SYNC 3.0, but I reached out to Ford and they said there is no SYNC 3.4v for my vehicle. I conducted the update via the for site but it only changed the build number. My question is will doing this update render my unit unuseable based on what Ford told me?
Great video, I have a 2021 Explorer and the SYNC3 is no better then what was updated here. It's a must do if you have an older Ford product. It's embarrassing to see how far behind Ford is on their multimedia systems. GM MyLink and FCA U-Connect is superior and I own a Ford.
GM MyLink and FCA U-Connect are also made by the same company. But yeah. Not sure why Ford doesn't automatically update to 3.4 with an over the air push.
1 question, but first you need the right media hub for do the updates, because on the original hub I become any connection to the sync. Still mp3 the not show me on the original hub.
@@DIYReid Still not, I have sync3 Version 1.0 and the USB-media-hub is an original, I think is an older media-hub, when I connect there an usb-stick the found nothing. In the moment I wait for the new hub. I was writing you an email too with more questions so maybe you can answer me on the another questions too.
My sync 3 map update did not complete. My 2018 Ford Edge auto shut down during the load. My fault as I failed to uncheck the box to prevent that from happening. Anyone have an idea how I can finish the download from my USB? I put it back in and it seems as if nothing is happening.
Just a quick question I watched your video and followed it to the letter I have a 2018 Ford Focus and to download the maps aswell took no where near what you said in your video 20/30mins it took from 12:00pm mid day and it’s now 16:45pm in the afternoon and it’s just finishing up validating the download that’s over 4hrs mate just hope it works in the actual syncmyride file there is literally 19 files all together but Ford it self the sync my ride file there’s only about 9 files
Did the update work? I am assuming the original video poster has a better internet connection than you and I. Cause mine has been downloading for hours....
No I didn’t do it in the end cause I don’t want it to mess up my system software or my cpu cause it’s not registered with Ford themselves if my sat Nav system broke I would not be covered by Ford so I decided not to install it in my car
Hi, 20 minutes after plugging the pendrive into the car it says: "Please insert USB stick" I did everything as it's in the video. Could somebody please help?
Over the last 7 years or so Ford have released sync1, sync2, sync3 and now sync 3.4 in their 2020/21 vehicles. It is just a technology progression. You can only update your sync3 to 3.4 with Cyanlabs and Ford do not support it.
Will forcing this update from CyanLabs stop future OTA updates from Ford? I feel this needs addressed as it’s not mentioned on the CyanLabs website or in this video
The video was great and I upgraded my software to 3.4, however I think I have another issue. I upgraded my 2014 Raptor from Sync 2 to Sync 3. I am missing my seat controls, steering wheel controls, clock and temperature controls. I thought that upgrading would fix this. Does anyone have an ideas?
I just bought a 2018 Escape titanium, it has 3.0 on it. I really want to do this, but I am scared that it will fk up my system! Do you know of anyone where it didn't work and bricked their system? And I don't even want to know what it would cost to get it fixed at the Dealership!
It's possible...a few here have had dramas without apparent solutions. I have a 2017 Escape with SYNC 3.0 with the latest Ford software updates and 2019 maps. I am not confident enough to go down the Cyanlabs route and no one knows whether they will still be around in a few years time for further updates, especially maps. Once you update with Cyanlabs you won't be able to get further updates or support from Ford. The software updates still come through on my Ford profile from time to time and I normally update by auto wifi and I think I will just pay for new map updates from Ford every few years even though they are not cheap. The Cyanlab updates work fine for most though....to each their own.
My expedition has ambient lighting will I lose the option to change ambient lighting colors or will it include that option also since it is in my original 2019 Expedition sync 3 software?
Let me know if you find out. This is the one thing holding me back on the upgrade - afraid I'm going to lose some features I have in my 2017 Super Duty that they took away in later years - including ambient lighting
It stay there and the square sliders turn round, I just did it tonight. FordPass still works (you need to re-enable and accept after you do a master reset). Everything will go away, but it is simple to re do all of it. Backup cameras and all the views all work. My 2017 F150 is Lariat special edition trim level so it has all the goodies. They all work. I want to know if they updated any of the DSP stuff in my Sony factory sound system. The sound quality is much better after this upgrade.
I keep getting an error and now I’m stuck on the install screen. How to I get out of it and cancel! It just gives me an error when trying to install. I have tried a soft reset and unplugging the battery and I can not get out of it
It was successful except for the navigation. I selected 2020 when choosing on my computer. Now after upgrading it just “loading map.” Help please. 2016 Edge.
Need to buy first laptop. My is sync 3 version 2 2017 focus titanium sedan. I ask the dealership for updates and the price is $164.00 .. Thanks for the info 👍
@@DIYReid it appears my system is stuck on trying to install the update. It stops at the error. I need a procedure to reboot the system to return it back to sync 3.0.
No you can't , no idea what this guy is on about but it's not possible, Also make sure to master reset after this process as it will clear out bugs / configure the car correctly.
There are updates past that, however like my car it will stop updating to the newer versions of sync 3. I updated mine from 3.0 to 3.4. 3.4 was not available through ford for my 2016 Taurus
I have a 2021 F-150 and the Ford map is dangerous. Using the trailer tow feature it tried to take me over a mountain logging road with two hairpin turns towing a 32 foot trailer in Arkansas. Then in South Dakota, it took me off the highway at the correct exit, but then directed me into a field to finish my 3 mile trip. At least Garmin has a reporting system to update dangerous errors like this. Where on earth does Ford get their data?

Worked great on my 2018 Ford F-150 King Ranch with NAV.
did you loose your ambient lighting controls?
@@davidharris9439 No sir. The first installation I only lost the controls for my massage seats, but I re-ran the software and everything was there after the second time. If I were to do it again, I would break up the installation. I would only update Sync from 3.0 to 3.4 and verify that everything is working. If it's good, then I would then update NAV from 2019 to 2020. In my case my 2018 came with NAV from 2015, which was odd but it's all current now.
Still working well?
Mine is. Thinking about updating the maps since it’s been a few years.
I have a 2018 Explorer. I am going to try this soon. I will let you know how it went.
Very nicely made video! I'm going to try this on my 2017 Taurus. When it updates, will I have to re-pair all my bluetooth devices and as well as put in my home/favorites in the navigation again?
You’ll have to repair Bluetooth devices. Not sure about navigation points.
@@DIYReid Thanks!
it takes about 30 seconds to re pair your phone.
hello i wanna ask that, i have ford fusion 2020 and i am driving in Turkey. Is this process working in may car or not?
I already updated the maps, do I need to install them again or will they stay if I only due the 3.4 update?
Well done vid, thank you! Have a 2017 Escape. The Nav system was so bad that we installed tomtom...Ford wants $109 for one time map update and the nav system will still be crappy I assume. Our tomtom came with lifetime maps for the same price and we don't have to suffer through the horrible Ford voice prompts.
DIY Reid, This worked perfect on my 2016 Ford Escape Titanium. My question is say this becomes problematic down the road, are you able to do a master reset and have it revert to the original version?
No, but you should be able to update to a newer version.
No. You have sync 2.
Hello I wanted to ask you for information by doing this update the lights of the pedal board always remain functional as before or are eliminated and in addition the navigator that is in the dashboard the one near the odometer that is connected with the Sync still works or even eliminated too ? Thanks
Currently doing it on my 2017 Ford Fusion Enegi & all it keeps doing is saying using system software and rebooting. Any advice?
I have a 2016 Lincoln Navigator. Will this update keep the “Lincoln” start screen or will it change it to Ford?
That I’m not sure. You can change it back with forscan.
Can you help!!!! I had a box that popped up!!! This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action, Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Aps Settings page.
What should I do?
Thanks,
Mark
Worked great. I did the update in my 2017 escape titanium. First I updated to the latest version Ford put out on their website then I followed this video and it went smooth with no issues. The only thing that doesn't work is the Ford pass app. Before I did the 3.4 update I did a master reset on my radio and this removed me from the Ford pass app. I tried adding the car again and when it says to accept it on the radio screen it never pops up. Any idea on how to get this to work?
So does the restriction only apply to 2020 vehicles or 2020 and newer?
Does gracenotes get downloaded with the update or is separate?
For those looking at this now (2023), the warning about cars manufactured in 2020 is different and requires the opposite answer than he tells you at about the 8 minute mark, so just be aware.
Thanks for this
Hey mate Did this update put extra features in sync that is incompatible with your car (i.e dead buttons)?
Looking at doing to it my 2017 Ford Everest but don't want dead buttons on the screens.
No. You mean like cooled seats when I don’t have cooled seats?
@@DIYReid yeah buttons that are there but don't have the parted fitted for it to work.
Hello thanks for the Tutoriol
After updating does all car features that's related to the infoteament system work fine
Like (auto park , reverse camera , blind spots and sensors ) ?
Also does the right productive screen on the instrument cluster work ( media , navigation , phone option )?
Also the voice command?
Fordpass app?
is every thing still working as it should ?
Yes.
I have ford fusion sync 3.0 with navigation
The region for the screen, navigation is US region
Now iam using the car in middle east (jordan)
Can change the screen , navigation region to Middle east
By doing that steps except
For car configuration choose US region then for new version to download select middle east then map version for middle east
Is that possible?
Thank you in advance

cyan labs says to do a master reset after the new install to fix any issues, how do you do this . it wasn't shown on this install
Currently trying it out on our 2016 ford expedition el ext so its sync3. It reset and told me to pull out the usb which i didnt and after it booted back up it was still version 3.0....it saying updating again so lets see what happens next stay tuned.
i bought a sync3 for my 2013 edge a couple years back off ebay and its seams that it came from a for explorer becasue when i search for bluetooth is say "ford explorer" instead of sync. sync3 im on version 3.0 18093 works fine but wont let me update to 3.4. help??
You may need first to check for the update from ford.owner.com
It will ask you about your VIN number and will provide you the correct update .
If it's giving you kind of 3.02154 or something, you have to do it first .
Just bought a 2019 Platinum Max so it will recognize all the features like Massaging seats?
If you have them. Yes
Than you!
I have a 2017 F150. It has Sync 3 and currently running software version 2.2.
Anybody know if it’s ok to jump straight to 3.4?
Comment above you went from 2.0 to 3.4. I would say yes. I’m going to do this today it I need a windows comp😑. I have a Mac
Does the climate control on the new updated version work with your vehicle?
Yes.
2017 F150 everything updated, but lots my NAV. Everything else works but my nav just says loading for days now..I had the nav option checked to.on when doing the usb stick. Re flashed working now 👍
I did this on my 2016 f-150 but now everytime I start my truck it pops up usb not detected or something like that anyway to fix that?
One question, please: What does it mean to not have navigation? Is it when it doesn't appear within the version and build page, or when you don't have a navigation tab? Because I have the navigation tab, but I can't see the navigation version. Thanks.
You have to have navigation already to upgrade it.
@@DIYReid It means that I should have the navigation unchecked because I don't have the navigation version in the info page, otherwise, does it risk damaging or doing something?
Right. I don’t know if it’ll even let you. Wouldn’t risk it though. There is a non nav APIM and a nav APIM.
Don’t mess with it. Lots of people having issues. That update doesn’t have enough changes to be worth the aggravation.
How did it go?
Im looking to upgrade my 2017 F150 SYNC 3.0, but I reached out to Ford and they said there is no SYNC 3.4v for my vehicle. I conducted the update via the for site but it only changed the build number. My question is will doing this update render my unit unuseable based on what Ford told me?
No. That’s what this is for.
Thanks
Great video, I have a 2021 Explorer and the SYNC3 is no better then what was updated here. It's a must do if you have an older Ford product. It's embarrassing to see how far behind Ford is on their multimedia systems. GM MyLink and FCA U-Connect is superior and I own a Ford.
GM MyLink and FCA U-Connect are also made by the same company. But yeah. Not sure why Ford doesn't automatically update to 3.4 with an over the air push.
if you already got the new map update, can you just update the sync only
1 question, but first you need the right media hub for do the updates, because on the original hub I become any connection to the sync. Still mp3 the not show me on the original hub.
Do you not have Apple CarPlay?
@@DIYReid Still not, I have sync3 Version 1.0 and the USB-media-hub is an original, I think is an older media-hub, when I connect there an usb-stick the found nothing. In the moment I wait for the new hub. I was writing you an email too with more questions so maybe you can answer me on the another questions too.
I linked a new hub in the description to update it if need be.
Worked on my 2018 f150 no nav ! Thanks
It’s possible. I have a 250mb connection.
@@DIYReid yeah man... I've got 12mb 😂
Ahhh. That would make a difference.
No I didn’t do it in the end cause I don’t want it to mess up my system software or my cpu cause it’s not registered with Ford themselves if my sat Nav system broke I would not be covered by Ford so I decided not to install it in my car
I tried it doing it. I installed sync 2.3 to 3.4. I also have navigation. But when I updated my maps stopped working.
Good video. But the dowloaded program looks quite different. The advanced options now have this warning with MY20.
It’s been a while I’m sure they’ve changed and updated the program.
How to you fix the lack of voice reply to text messages? Using forscan maybe on the 3.4 sync
What do you mean lack of?
Meaning there is no voice reply function. In the version 3.4 and there was in version 3.0
Question ! My sync3 v2.0 does not have the climate option on the bottom bar. Will that change when updating to the newest version ?
Can I do to my ford escape 2016 sync 3 version 01

I did everything as it's in the video. Could somebody please help?
Will the ambient option be available cause that’s an option on mine?
Yes
@@DIYReid sweet thank for the fast reply!
those who use this method once to get the new UI and map, can they get the new map update from ford later on?
If you’re doing this you weren’t able to get updates as it is from Ford now.
You won't be able to get any future updates or maps from Ford later on as you will be locked into Cyanlabs which is not supported by Ford.
Hi, DIY REID, Why doesnt Ford releases 3.4 to all 3.0 sync systems?
I’m not sure.
Over the last 7 years or so Ford have released sync1, sync2, sync3 and now sync 3.4 in their 2020/21 vehicles. It is just a technology progression. You can only update your sync3 to 3.4 with Cyanlabs and Ford do not support it.
Do you know if all langue is supportet ?
Mine is speaking DK
Will forcing this update from CyanLabs stop future OTA updates from Ford? I feel this needs addressed as it’s not mentioned on the CyanLabs website or in this video
Ford has no further updates for my 2017 Edge Sport, so that's not an issue for me.
That’s the purpose of this.
Simple answer...yes.
You can use Forscan to enable those features.
Is there a particular ODB adaptor that I need?
@@Myfriendscallmequake I use this one - amzn.to/3NFN6D3
My screen is completely black and nothing is showing up. Should I restart the process all over again?
I know for a fact if it did for whatever reason it can be enabled with forscan. That being said that leads me to believe it doesn’t take it away.
It will work, mine came back fine!
I keep getting an error and now I’m stuck on the install screen. How to I get out of it and cancel! It just gives me an error when trying to install. I have tried a soft reset and unplugging the battery and I can not get out of it
