I love Chris Simms' work. People that say he's a hot take artist have never actually watched his shows. Dude's passion for football is off the charts and he's always super tolerant of different opinions.

That's what I thought and stayed away from his content. He simply just goes against the narrative on certain things. But like he said, he's not perfect. I think Harrison will be much better than Thomas, but I love the insight as to why he thinks that way and technically he's right about the physical traits. But you have to put it out on the NFL field and I think Harrison does that. But yeah, I love Simms thinking. He was sure wrong about Zach Wilson🤣 Maybe Wilson is better if he goes and sits at a place like Green Bay. High Douglas put him in a terrible situation running around for his life and expected to be the savior of the Jets

I like that he isn’t afraid to go against the grain. For example, I think Malik Washington is a top ten WR in this draft. I have seen nothing on his tape or at the combine that has made me think otherwise. The worst case scenario for him is that he is a solid WR 3 and it will be fun to see if I’m right. If I’m not who cares it just makes the discussion more interesting instead of just talking about the same guys over and over again

You have to love Simms for the work he puts in, his views and the ownership he takes of his takes. I think his biggest weakness in terms of content is that he doesn't have another analyst to bounce his ideas off of in his own podcast. The analysis is better when he sits with people with different viewpoints like you guys or Connor Rogers.

Couldn't agree more! I've been listening to Simms since his BR days and not having a solid counterpoint doesn't let him review his thoughts during the process. For example, he talks a lot about explosive athletes (especially WR) but how many TDs scored are counted as explosive? Route running matters, I do believe it can be taught/coached but (for example) how much has DK Metcalf improved his route tree?

What these guys will never address when it comes to being wrong about draft evaluation is that its not about batting 1.000 because its simply not possible; what it is about is not being easily wrong/wrong in a big way.
Simms having Wilson #1 is not bad because he was wrong. Its bad because it was easy to see that he was gonna be wrong AND he was wrong in a big way. Not only was he not the best QB in the draft but he was not an early round QB period let alone #2 overall.
Evaluation is not about being correct all the time. Its about avoiding those big/easy to see misses.

Like yeah maybe the 80th percentile guys have a high hit rate but if those guys are mainly the prospects that are also top 100 on the consensus big board then ofc the hit rate is high. More interesting would be to know which percentage of the “model guys” that aren’t high on the consensus and which percentage of the “non-model guys” that are high on the consensus end up being hits.
