I remember watching this concert when it was shown live on BBC, on a Saturday tea time if I recall and I found myself eating my beans on toast or whatever it was, in time with the music! I was totally enthralled by it. Watching it again 30+ years later it hasn't lost any excitement and power. This particular song has a fantastic chord sequence and that G major to G flat minor change is really out there but it works.
like most of their truly awesome songs I mean com on boys are back in town and jailbreak where the weak b sides IMHO songs like this and holy war, cold sweat and Black Rose that was Thin Lizzy was alI about
I was fortunate to see TL on many occasions and in all its iterations. There is no better or worse line-up. Every guitar player that joined added something different to the band and made them what they were for that moment of time. Every one added to the uniqueness of the band and made them what they were. One of the tightest and most amazing live bands I have ever seen and I have seen many. I first saw Mr Sykes on the Thunder and Lightning Tour and still have a programme if anyone wants it....
I saw Thin Lizzy Eleven times with Phil Lynott. Every one a Gem . By the way, this is a Fantastic track and Thunder and Lightning , what a brilliant Album !
One of the most overlooked bands in music history. Could you even imagine headlining for these guys after they just blew the audience away? God Luck with that. The first time Grand Funk appeared in public they were carried off the stage. Like when Jimi Hendrix found out HE was the opening band instead of The Who. He said 'well if I'm the opening band, I'm pulling out all the stops" and went out and just put on a tremendous performance. Pete Townsand told the story and said "after that we just went out there and were 'twanging".
< THIS > 💘 What an incredible track!! How I wish I saw Lizzy live with Phil Lynott at the helm. The studio version of this track on the Thunder & Lightning LP is a also masterpiece.
The GREAT Phil Lynott blended hard rock and blues and progressive rock and roots-rock and and punk rock and at times even jazz, so seamlessly, that it is no damn wonder that Bob Dylan called him a genius
Given the time allotted to record Thunder & Lightning as opposed to the two previous albums, Sykes did a wonderful job. If he was available at the time Lizzy were looking for a guitar player in 1980 that line up would have made three terrific albums.
simply because he does exactly what it says on the tin. he delivers every time, to time, in time and on time...an outstanding drummer (and dont forget the extra layer that Mr Wharton added with his keyboard magic!)
This is so good!!! They are kicking some serious ass,,,,,,,, Yes sir real Music!!!!!!!!!! Put the Headphones On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every drummer should listen and learn from this song.
What a awesome performance.
Greatest band ever....
2.17, John Sykes hits the beast mode switch
Downey killing it on the drums.
Listen to that thudding bass!
R.I.P Mr. Sykes!!! One of the greatest Rock guitarist in the history!
I would die a thousand deaths just to have one beer with the GREAT Phil Lynott.
Yeah one pint of Guiness with him...
@@filipkruzik4950wed stick like glue ..its gutting
Never forget how solid a bass player Phil was
Yeah on the thunder & lightning album his bass was killer, great rythm.
RIP JOHN SYKES
Guitars & drums are perfect, but emotion of Phil Lynott singing is what makes this song true masterpiece!
brian downey is a beast
Yes!
Awesome shuffle rythm.
I was at this gig in Hitchin absolutely brilliant. They are the best band of all time. Totally underrated.
TL is the favourite band of the favourite bands!

Agreed, G to F# 🙌
Heard this song for the first time on vinyl with some older friends... Such a vastly underrated Lizzy song.
like most of their truly awesome songs I mean com on boys are back in town and jailbreak where the weak b sides IMHO songs like this and holy war, cold sweat and Black Rose that was Thin Lizzy was alI about
Always better live than any studio version, glad I got to see them late 70s, never forgotten the experience.

One of the greatest live performances of all-time by a Rock + Roll band.?
That solo! Sykes is up there with the best! 🎸😎
Jimkenhoy83 Sykes is a beast. He can shred and play with feeling with the best.
John Sykes R.I.P
all those classic Lizzy songs, and Jon Sykes comes up with this, and it just rocks my boat big time, I don't know why ?
that sykes solo would melt your face off if you were by the front of the stage, fucking amazing
I love the end part where you see Phil Lynott go up and down the bass. R.I.P. Philo
This is one of the best bands ever we miss you thin Lizzy ...Phil ur the best ....
Miss you already John. Pure genius. Cheers.
Scott Gorham was one of the great ones

Can't get any better... Absolute Heros forever... Love all of their Albums... What a wide range of great Rock Music
rocktheshock I think the most under rated band in the history of music. Saw them once in Kaiserslautern Germany. Fuckin phenomenal.

The drums have such a great feel to this excellent song RIP Phil
Wow. Exceptional band. Fantastic song. Put these guys in the Hall of Fame.
Live at the Regal Theatre, Hitchin, London, 1983.

Holy shit I would die if I had got to see this live.
I agree. Fucking agree!
I bid
listen the passion in the words. Only this can be from real life problems. lyrics built from love
Damn straight
It's what made Thin Lizzy stand out from most other bands.
I was at this show. BBC Sight and Sound. BBC RADIO AND BBC2 LIVE. My bro never set the vhs recorder, or radio cassette recorder !!!
Greatest frontman ever
Trop heureux de retrouver mes belles années de "Hardos" !!!!

Perfect song. One of their best.
FANTASTIC, how can they all remember what to play, respect to the Drummer also. 10 out of 10.
Such an energy! Amazing performance
WOW, masterpiece!
< THIS > 💘 What an incredible track!! How I wish I saw Lizzy live with Phil Lynott at the helm. The studio version of this track on the Thunder & Lightning LP is a also masterpiece.
Beautiful and sad song!

High Level in eny time's.

nice with 2nd sykes solo. think was before the album came out and also featured as sykes solo at the end of the sun goes down.
Love the swing on drum by downey. Absokute Fantastic his drumming
John Sykes is FIERCE!!!!!!!
Fabulous John Sykes !
Given the time allotted to record Thunder & Lightning as opposed to the two previous albums, Sykes did a wonderful job. If he was available at the time Lizzy were looking for a guitar player in 1980 that line up would have made three terrific albums.
He would've been available but he was an unknown at the time and not on Phil's radar yet.
WTF!!! I thought I'd seen it all..... saw them every tour except '83 in the States,
the best yet!
John Sykes fuckn amazing
Sykes is a beast! The best there is!
what a song! what a band!
this is insane stuff..
最高………
man, what a killer show!!!
This is such a beautiful song so it wouldn't surprise me if he was crying :)
dramatically epic!
how is that brian downey can kep the beat going that strong for six fucking minutes?

It's a triplet. It's not as fast as you think it is. Just listen to the quarter note to determine the actual pace. It's not that fast at all.
