- Skyline, taken off of Waltari’s album “Global Rock”, is a collaboration with Bomfunk MC’s rapper Raymond Ebanks (alias BOW). Release date for “Global Rock” is March 20th, 2020.
Waltari’s Kärtsy (vocals) and Raymond are both pioneers in their very own style in Finland. Waltari is a pioneer of Finnish cross-over metal from the early 90s, Raymond is a pioneer of the Finnish 80s rap scene. Both of them have cleared their way from Finnish underground scenes up to being the super well-known Finnish export acts, who have spread their word of passionate Finnish music for the last 20-30 years all over the globe!
Despite coming from very different musical heritage, these two guys have been very good friends for ages and been supporting each other’s careers. This is the first collaboration between Waltari and Raymond Ebanks in 20 years! Please enjoy!

You prove this every time that the best and even catchy music that is near to pop (in terms of commercial abilities to be on top charts) is usually (and unfortunately) far from spotlights. When I've heard Skyline for the first time during the tour with Dog Eat Dog it was love a the first sight. Three thoughts about that release:
1. In 1996 this could have been a Top 10 hit. "Space Avenue" was great anyway. :-) As a Waltari fan since 1994 I would say, "Skyline" is basically one of the ten best songs the band ever wrote.
2. Why? Well, Kärtsy's ability to create choruses which are catchy as fuck is outstanding. He deserves so much respect as a songwriter!
3. Sorry, but: I don't like the mixing. Where are the guitars? Also the rap track lacks speed and power...
8/10.

@@karihatakka3499 I think we all miss guitars like on "Lights On", "Sensitive Touch", "On My Ice" or my personal favourite "Fuckadelican Garden". You were top in 90s. One of the two my favourite bands - Amorphis and Waltari. Hope you'll return to your roots some day ))
Great points. What I miss are Roope Latvala's riffs. I loved that late 90's sound of the Waltari, saw them live a couple of times those days and, yeah... But damn great to see all these people active again!
Yeah, the rap is a bit sluggish. Maybe not the right song to make that exception. Also, I miss overall the high-energy Waltari rap songs as on the Big Bang album. But as we know Waltari is about always changing and exploring and not treading on one spot making the same songs.

Oh my god. I love bomfunk so much since my childhood and listening it for now but BOW could make it better in this song. Anyway waiting for new Bomfunk songs

Jariot is more or less only just the band’s studio guitarist nowadays, and is not also playing in this song.
This track a bit of a miss for me personally. Was left feeling like the previous collaboration where Kärtsy was singing to Bomfunk MC music just made for a much better fit, even though that song had a more amateur sound than this one. Also much preferred the other single Postrock to this song.
Can't wait to hear the rest of the album once it comes out regardless though.
Genre with Bomfunk song was also different, that was disco!
Just to warn you, the album will include for sure at least 10 different genres!:)
In Waltari case it’s not very wise to lean on only one song. The album will be an entirety, which concists at least from 10 different genres.
Please judge it only as a single.
