    I was watching another RUclipsr just a little bit ago today and he was talking about another reseller getting in big trouble over not washing every piece of used clothing before selling them. Thoughts please? Apparently we are supposed to be putting a disclaimer or a statement in every posting that says item washed, and or steamed per eBay policy or something to that nature. The goblet reminded me of what they use in the Catholic Church at mass. Maybe that’s why there was only one. It looked like Louisville pottery actually, which is where I’m from.

      Several of my thrift stores wash before selling, and from estate sales they're coming out of closet. For me if there's no odor or dirt and stains i don't wash. With true vintage items washing could damage so those we might not even with dirt/ stains. All clothing should be clean though before selling no dirt or odor. Same new with tags no way I'm washing that either

      Any tips on getting rid of mothball odor? I bought a beaut iful vintage robe, part of the owners trousseau in 1960. I couldn’t smell it till I got home, but it does smell like mothballs. I’m afraid to wash it. I put it in my hot car for two days but that did not work.

    Hi Kat, Enjoy all your videos. Just couple things on the finds in this one: I think the 2nd hair receiver you picked up is a marriage. At quick glance, the bottom piece didn't seem to be decorated in a way to match the top. I could of course be wrong, but you might want to double check this. Also LOVE the etched/cut (?) glass sugar cube bucket you picked up at the end. IMHO, though, there is no way this is Murano. A sweet piece, just not Murano.
    Thanks for all the info you share with us.

    What is a antique hair receiver?

    • @katstreasurehunting
      @katstreasurehunting  2 месяца назад +3

      A hair receiver is a small container with a hole in the top that was used to store hair from brushes and combs on dressing tables from the Victorian era through the 1950s. The hair could be used for a variety of purposes, including: Hair art, Filling pincushions or other small pillows, Creating elaborate hairstyles, and Stuffing small bags called ratts to bulk out women's hairstyles.
      Wikipedia
      Hair receiver - Wikipedia
      Article. A hair receiver is a small pot, typically made of ceramic, bronze, or crystal, with a hole in the lid, kept on the dressing table in the Victorian era to store hair removed from brushes and combs. A hair receiver, no maker's mark, at least 100 years old from Wales. History. Hair receivers were a receptacle with a finger-wide hole in the top to allow for the collected hair to be fed into the box. The hair collected in these receivers was recycled in a number of ways, notably for stuffing small bags, about 8-10 centimetres (3-4 in) across, called ratts (or rats), used to bulk out women's hairstyles.
