Thank you to Portugues Air Force and Lisboa ground control for helping our guys to save their lives and the aircraft, they really were ready to ditch it in water and possibly lose their lives. Kudos!!

Truly amazing pilots under incredible stress.... Can't believe how many times they asked for a heading only to receive the same answer, this shows that their stress level was incredibly high because the sea was always in the same general direction yet they couldn't remember because they were fighting for their lives and only had momentary chances to ask which direction never realizing in was always in the same general compass heading. Good job guys, would love to have you as my pilots any time

That's true but the main reason they had to ask so many times was that the plane was flying erratically resulting in huge fluctuations in G forces from -1 G to + ~4.5 G... So 1. they couldn't read their instruments and 2. Because it was flying erratically, they had no control over where the plane was turning, so they HAD to ask for the heading every time the plane made a turn on it own... In the 2nd half of the flight, they recognized the pattern as to how the plane would turn for a particular input.

Kudoo’s to those pilots, they never gave up on the aircraft and managed to save the out of control aircraft.

They actually tried to ditch it, they just couldn't get it pointed towards the water. The wings were irreparably bent, so it was totaled in the end.

Esse piloto e co piloto foram condecorados? Mereciam e muito, pela competência em manter a aeronave intacta apesar dos pesares!

Max registered force was 4,5G. Astronauts max G-force during Max-Q is 4G - just to put that in perspective...

They went through G forces and still managed to get "control" of the plane. Professionals from the earth to the moon.

The registration number was P4-KCJ. KC1388 was the flight designation.

Imagine the relief the pilots must have felt. Probably their worst 2 hours on planet Earth. I hope their psychologist fees were covered by the insurance of the mechanic company, they would have needed some months of therapy probably.

Their airline provided counselling and unlimited time off, captain suffered from nightmares for a while, but soon wanted to resume flying. The captain is flying bigger jets now and the first officer qualified as captain.
