Nice review! Looks like something I don't want to miss out on. ME is still my favorite video game of all time. Did you guys get to try the prototype of Rogue Angels? Can't wait for my pledge to arrive. They dubbed it the ME board game in spirit......
Jess and Shawn, thank you so much for your incredibly high production review omg. All that b-roll! I'm so glad that the game hit for you and hit for the reasons we explicitly set out to design for. Low setup! Low rules overhead! Fast progression! Replayability! 'Oh god we're about to die and then we suddenly made it! Yay!' Which were all things you hit on in your review. Thanks again and hope you kick butt on your next run through the campaign!
From what I understand you don't get to pick Shepard's class for some reason and if I understand what another video on the game said for some reason they remove Tali's ability to use Shotguns in his.
We don't do scores. Our focus is more to provide all the info we can about the game to let you decide if it may be for you or not. Some of that is of course opinion, but we try to keep things as objective as possible and provide the facts. That and if one provides a score, the score is the only thing people walk away with. It's really personal preference, but it's the style that we're most comfortable with.
I would have loved a super deep, ultra high quality version of this, for my favorite franchise ever. However! This version of the game is great. Ive seen reviews where people are comparing it to like 175$ games and conplaining it doesn't have some of those features and complexity, and quality with figures and stuff. Its a 40$ game. It feels like a 40$ game. I got mine in the main a couple days ago. I opened it up and took a look at it, but haven't actually played through it yet. Probably will soon.
Near and Far does a really good job, both with keeping it short and being interesting. Red Raven Games in general do a good job. Clank Legacy is solid as well, and surpringly funny.
People that want it to be a full minis game can make it so. Their web site will sell a full set of junk for like $300 which is...a lot, but if they MUST have it, they can...
As a big ME Fand someone who has started Gloomhaven over a bunch of times because of its lenght, this game seems pretty cool
Yeah, we loved Gloomhaven, but there is something to be said for a nice quick set up time.
Thanks for the nicely-produced review! Subbed 😀
Thanks!

We hadn't heard of Rogue Angels. We'll have to look it up. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for the kind words. And good luck with the game!

We haven't really played the video games, so this isn't stuff we noticed. But I think you are correct.
Great review and overview of the game! One thing I missed is a review score. Do you guys avoid giving scores for any particular reason?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.

Absolutely. It's a lot of value for a £40-ish game. And we are suckers for a box that is easy to fit on the shelf.
I like that you're critical about the writing in board games. Is there any board game you can think of that impressed you with its writing?

@@AlliesorEnemies Hmm I have to check but I don't think I have any Red Raven Games board games in my collection yet.

Good to know, not for us, but folks do love their minis.
@@AlliesorEnemies I love them but not for $300 for a little 5 mission game.
Game ruins ME canon, not playing it
I initially read this like it was from a pirate "aaargh, ya ruined me canon."
That's funny 😂
How?
