2 tips that made this level easier for me:
1. Once you've grabbed the purple gem, if you die you still have it. you don't have to force yourself to beat that gun section
2. I found it easier to camp the hives and kill the bees by spamming spin as they come out. After killing one wave it gives you a bit more breathing room
N3V3RLookBack I was gonna write the same thing about the purple gem. If you like challenges, go through the gun part, if you want that purple gem, get ir and die.

This video was so helpful not only did I learned that you can collect the purple gem without having to complete that mini section, but I learned that jumping over the beehive gives you a few more precious seconds. Thanks for helping me 100% this level. Good riddance!

The only part of this level that kept messing me up is the part at 4:00. I just couldn't get the slide to work after using the turbo boost. Good thing I had the Aku Aku mask.

CheeseNoMac Update: I finally finished that damn 🐝 level after a year of struggling to finish it this is not an easy level this is a fucking hard level man, the hardest level I’ve ever played in crash bandicoot I tried that running jumping technique and it worked I finally passed Bee-Having yay

This level is pretty good... but it has one HUGE flaw in the design of the secret area: the gem is straight to the beginning of it. The path contains one of the most cool and challenging platforming section in the trilogy, but you're not rewarded in doing it at all since the gem is at the beginning of it, so once you grab it, die once and you don't have to go there again...
The bees are a pain in the ass.
I had to ask my brother to help me to beat this level because I was so upset that my ovaries hurt

The two worst enemies in this level are the bees and the camera
So because the bees are so fast and you can't out run them the only way to go through is slide jumps. Nice work TC.

You don't have to take the gem route if you die but already have the crystal, there are only nitros on that route.

This level combines too much. The annoying bees, the shooting plants, the shooting guys, the guys followingnu with the hammer, the moving stones, rhe electric fences.. fuck....

Finally got the red gem, that box jumping is a bit tricky.

can someone please tell me HOW do I jump higher??? I cannot seem to jump as high as any of the people in any pf the crash videos. I am playing on nintendo switch, my jump control is B, twist is Y, slide/groundpound is A
You need to pres A to slide and B to jump right away

Not to comment a few years late, but when you get the purple gem, and die on that bonus, you still get to keep it. I didn't complete the bonus and I went on the rest of the level and I still kept my gem. Completing that is unnecessary lol

After all the slide jumps and when you have to use the speed boosts, the bees were always out there and after me.

When you take the clear gem there is no need to repeat it if you die because there are no boxes down there only the green ones so you can just pass it and continue the level normally

I liked the level but it took me a while.
the fake nitro boxes were suspisicous, so I thought I needed to get them destroyed first so that I can find something behind them, but it was too frustrating to die to bees over and over when backtracking
This level would be so much easier if Crash had an epi pen.

I feel like bees move faster on higher resolution
Once I stopped losing lives at the start, I beat this level in under 4 go's. Maybe around 8-9 attempts including losing lives at the start to simple falls. A really easy level compared to Ruination, Cold Hard Crash, Native City etc.

I think the music in this level sounds like Spyro's music ( ironically the original game came out at the same time as Spyro but the music for Spyro was done by Stewart Copeland and not Josh Mancel) and Road to Ruin sounds a bit like Jak and Daxter in the middle bit.

Also I don't understand why Vicarious Vision didn't fix the glaring flaw with the purple game's position in the secret route. It was obviously a bad design choice from Naughty Dog back then, so why not fixing it an putting the gem at the end of the route? They fixed the crate mechanics of the first game, so why not fixing this?

This level is the bullshit to end all bullshit. Crash 2 has been highly obnoxious for its more trial and error than legitimate challenge turn but this level has just killed the game for me
