There was a couple rebounds Lively got where it was him in the middle of 3 Thunder players. I was shocked. Earlier in the game Lively was shaky, dropping passes, not going up strong. The second half he really wiped all that away. Incredible performance by a rookie. I don't even know what I just watched. Mavs must have really impressed Bontemps in that series. Don't forget, Jaden McDaniels shut down MPJ the entire series except for game 3 and Jaden also scored 20+ points two games in a row, which is how Minnesota won this series. When he scores, it takes pressure off the bench to produce. If Jaden becomes consistent next season and can give you 17ppg while still being a lock down perimeter defender, Minnesota will be back in this same spot next season in the WCF. Luka is a better offensive player. ANT is a better overall player.
Shutting down MPJ is one thing who can only catch and shoot, shutting down Luka isn't possible you can slow him down like dort did but he will still average a 30pts triple double on you.

Luka and Kyrie aren’t defensive liabilities anymore unless you haven’t watched any of the playoff games so far. Sure they’re not DPOY material but they’re putting in quite a decent shift. Mavs were #1 defense in the league post trade deadline, holding that spot till the end of the season. You don’t do that if two of your starters are “defensive liabilities”. It’s translated well into the playoffs too. With Luka injured and his offensive firepower dampened, the main reason Dallas got through both their series is not because of their offense but rather the lockdown defense that they played to which both Luka and Kyrie contributed. In fact, Kyrie ironically is playing more like a defensive player than an offensive player. He averaged only 16ppg in the OKC series but was a very important player for the mavs because of the defense he played.
His height helps and he can hit 3's sometimes, that is all. He can't create his own shot. He is average, he is on max contract but he can't even be a 3rd option on his team. Denver needs a true all-star.
Everyone is giving the wolves so much credit for taking down Denver. But let's not forget how "unimpressive" the Denver run last year was. All 4 teams they faced last year had under 50 wins!
