- NISSAN HAS REVOLUTIONISED HYBRID SYSTEMS!! So RIP Electric Cars??
But does that mean its better than a Toyota Hybrid system? Well, YES and NO. The Nissan Qashqai small SUV faces some stiff competition, like the Toyota Corolla Cross, All-New C-HR, RAV4, Hyundai Kona Hybrid, Honda ZR-V and Haval Jolion Hybrid. But should you SPEND over $50,000 on an EV-based Hybrid system and luxury-esque interior? Let's talk about that in today's review!

Here at CarSauce, we review every new car on the market. We are a community of sauce givers and we'd love for you to subscribe and join our community!
We give every car "the sauce", test their 0-100km/h, and see whether or not they are worth purchasing and spending your hard-earned cash on.
From time to time, we'll also buy a weird and wacky car and take you on the journey with me! We release videos every Sunday 5pm AEST / AEDT with the latest new car reviews!
Your feedback is important, so if you want to see us do something new or something you would like me to change let me know! Got a question for me? Leave it in the comments! I try and respond to them all! Авто/Мото
how come you are the only one that releases a review on every car that i want to check-out?!
Lovely car with amazing power
And even comfortable in the rear seats
Drives beautifully
Best part is no Nissan CVT.😁
Nissan without their one problematic feature, is a pretty good car and worth considering
@@calebwany8422yeah they aren't bad without their crappy CVT and Renault engines.
IMO, this would make so much more sense if it was a PHEV
Especially for our tax incentives

What if it came with LINGLONGS???!
XD
Got mild hybrid version two weeks ago, best car ever also costs nothing compared even to koreans
It looks like the automotive industry are trying to catch up with railways with their Diesel electric locomotives which most diesels are and been around for 100 years.
I like the e-power system but it needs another motor out back
Haha my ignis 4.9 but only 32L engine so range isn't very high, isn't the zrv hybrids engine act as a generator aswell but at higher speeds clutch engages engine to wheels
Love hate relationship with this car.
Absolutely love they way it looks and the interior
Absolutely hate the price here in NZ, its something like $60K 😮 🤯
Thats just straight up ridiculous tbh
Thank you for this, we pick up our new Qashqai E Power Tekna Automatic next week in the UK, the red that has a tinge of orange look, beautiful colour, feeling excited! ❤😊
bad choice
evs are the way to go
Abarth review ?
A full pollution ev ,well done nissan.
What puzzles me is BMW had a better system in 2014 with the I3 REX.
This car is the answer to ‘what brain damage does Nissan still carry after the GFC and Goshen?’. It is the greatest case of not understanding the second law of thermodynamics next to people that believe in HHO converters.
He confirms this towards the end. At steady speed, the power consumed (heat, noise, resistance, friction etc) to drive the generator and the electric motor would exceed the power consumed to drive a differential and gear box, therefore worse fuel economy. In hybrid terms it saves the weight of the gearbox and differential, and gives back acceleration power from regenerative braking.
This is cheaper and better specced than the similarly drivetrain set-up honda civic.
Starts at $63K NZD. Buy a base model and save $20k?
It's a good idea, and works realy well in driving, but the extra price for it and the meager gas savings make it not worthy at all from a financial perspective. If you look at it from a enjoyment POV and nice driving then sure, but from a financial cost saving view, it simply doesn't make sense to put upfront an extra $4.000 plus interests, and save it slowly over 4-5 years, and even risk higher repair costs (extra complexity, battery degradation, etc). I'm a big fan of Qashqai and nissan tech, but this is simply not worth it.
Stay clear of Nissan? Nonsens, as Nissan's Qashqai J 12 is a very good car, it looks good, the quality is good and the e-power concept is outstanding.
Qashqai interior look very premium. The only downside is that the battery is only covered by standard 5 years warranty. Also UK Qashaqai seems to have some issues. X-trail is built in Japan (likely better quality?)
The e-Power battery is tiny though - like 5% the size of some EV batteries. I wonder how much it would cost to replace?
Fuel economy is awful, only 1 litre per 100km more efficient than the ice. 🤯
Isnt this like the deplorable mazda?
Terrible fuel economy, expensive, no way
Nah, it just looks like a bland blob like all the other bland SUV blobs, they all look the same.
Where is Daddy Jacob???
شرب النبيذ الاحمر 😊
Have a good look at the since but not like COVID...this shit don't add up .🤪
No
You may not of heard but EVs are more polluting than combustion engines. There is also now a substantial body of information around the hidden costs, dangers, and general issues around EVs. Please educate yourself on these issues. They make EVs impractical for use in Australia.
all these have been debunked bro. Those claim doesnt add up. It looks more like a last ditch effort by the ICE car manufacturer. if this ev is bad, hydrogen fuel is even worst. Shell has claimed that the cost of maintenance, generation and transporting is bad. EV might caught fire, but hydrogen fuel, you are practically bringing a hydrogen bomb to wherever you go. It also becomes an easy target for terrorist.
@@mcsoo5291 LOL.
Something to do with the higher cost of construction and materials and recycling at end of life, that is off set during the driving life of the car if it is charged with green power. They have to do high distance over the life of the vehicle to get environmental pay back. No environmental pay back for a low K city run around.
@@richlawrence4160 There are significantly more issues. Let me underline that word significant. You have not even began to touch on the issues. Please people do your research.

An alternative view on e power, Mr Cadogan craps on this drive train with quite a few similar videos on this car. The meagre fuel savings only comes from regenerative breaking.. and all this at the higher price.
but it drives more like an EV
@@radissimo1why dont you drive an EV then? I think thats besides the point, you could get an entry level EV that hit 7s to 100km/h and keep it as a second car. Yeah there is range anxiety. I would like to put an analogus to this. I was using Windows PC for decades and i always afraid of software not avaiiable in the mac ecosystem, i keep delaying to switch. Until one day i finally made the switch.....hoola, then i notice whereever there is a problem, there is a solution. EV is the same.
However, just wait for a couple of months. I am waiting to see how efficient is Panasonic battery that claims a single charge of 10mins could extend 1000km range.
This is a very stupid hybrid. It is fuel thirsty, pricey and underpowered compared to its non-hybrid offering. The interior is quite good, test drove one, can't recommend it to anyone.
Nissans don't age well and don't last long 👎
No sane person would buy this.
Why somebody would buy that hideous Corolla cross over a Qashqai is beyond me
Stay clear of nissans
Qashqai 2022 was the best I had
