Joel actually started to get happy after moments during David arc in the last game
That's the saddest part though, i love how Part II shows you how the night Ellie started to try to forgive Joel was the night before he died and she goes on a revenge quest out of guilt for not spending time with him and so she realises killing Abby won't bring him back, so she finally let's go of Joel as well as Abby.

The Father Daughter bond is strong in this one. Makes me think of what if Sarah survived. She and Ellie would've been besties and Joel's all the constantly mildly stressed single father because of his two mischievous daughters but nonetheless loves them dearly.
Well Sarah would've been a big sister to ellie given the large gap.
I think Sarah would have been 30 by this time considering she was 9 at the start of TLOU 1 and then 20 years later Ellie is 14

@@supermariofan03 I finished the game last week and it's deeper than 'REVENGE IS BAD'. Look on both perspectives, Abby's father got killed by Joel, along with literal hundreds of people. Abby wanted revenge and she got it. But later through the game she changes, she cares more about people, she even risks her own life fighting the Rat King to get health supplies for Yara. That's character development showing. Tbh, I started liking her after seeing her side of the story, which was just as bad as Ellies. She lost everyone at the end, Owen, her friends, dad, the only person she had wad Lev. On Ellie's perspective, Abby is a horrible bitch that killed her father figure, but she doesn't choose to listen to HER perspective. The whole point of the game is that if humans learn to connect with each other, and see each others points of views, then we might get a deeper understanding of the issues. In this case, if both Abby and Ellie listened to each other, maybe they could have just left each other alone. But Ellie was determined at the end, saying 'I can't let you leave'.
This was the actual only moment in the whole game that I wasn't angry or thirsty for revenge. I was actually smiling for once in the whole game.
So how did you feel when you play as Abby

Thats what the second one should've been. Ellies grown up a bit but Joel isn't an old man who just plays the guitar. They literally had a story they could've followed at the start of game when they were in the town. We didn't get to see it prosper and the obstacles they faced so they could've easily made it about that or just not even involve them with Abby at all and show her story

It's like an entirely different writer wrote JUST the Ellie and Joel flashbacks.
It's the same writers evoking different emotions
As much as i love This flashback but it seems pointless like why? What are u we suppost to establish here The only thing that serves the plot is like the Last flashback when ellie found out the truth
@@solidhutyr1815 I assume the flashbacks were to both remind Ellie of her motivation and inform the player of how the characters bonded through the timeskip between games. The problem is (1) this game has a problem with placement of flashbacks breaking the overall narrative's flow (Oh my god, Abby's pointing a gun at Ellie and--oh, wait. It's a flashback again), and (2) they didn't have to show these at all. Of COURSE Ellie loved Joel but grew distant when she learned about the Fireflies's deaths. I figured that was going to be a plot point of the game well before Joel even died. I get "show not tell," but this didn't need to be shown, at least not in the middle of a revenge quest.
Can we just appreciate the writers for the masterpiece? They clearly wanted to invoke different feelings, and they did.

Like - the last of us 2 is a good game. Not great but good. Unfortunately, what it is, also makes it a bad sequel. Total shift in tone. No sense of target audience. 50% are still on board and 50% are totally lost.
