In other words it behoves them to keep Joel alive for as long as possible and not glorify or look for sympathy for Abby we’ve already seen a lot of characters looking for revenge without knowing the whole story or thinking about things from the other side
i loved how joel acted in the prologue. How he hesitates to say “goodnight kiddo” and when he says okay after Ellie agrees to be taught. It’s like he’s finally accepting the idea of being a dad again.
It’s the little things about these interactions. The way Ellie looks at Joel after he’s done playing the guitar, and the way she says “did you remember the joke?” Knowing that of course she wants to know about the joke and stay close with Joel despite her uncertainty of if he’s lying or not. Those little moments show how much she truly loves him like a father, it’s beautiful.

But I gotta admit, life is like that... Sometimes it takes everything from you and there's nothing you can do about it other than come to terms with it, like Ellie did, but sadly after killing a lot of people and also losing almost everyone she ever cared of.
If they don't do the dinosaur scene with Ellie jumping off and Joel having a slow heart attack watching that because he loves her imma be mad 😅😂 it's such a good moment in the game the whole museum stuff is
i think it was more about her listening to him sing for her and noticing how sincere he sounds, and she wanted to prolong that conversation just a bit, even it was a few seconds more.
No, that wouldn’t have made her sound so frustrated when she stopped herself. What she wanted to ask was related to the fact that she knows he lied about the Fireflies...
What I've really come to appreciate about Part II is that it doesn't take Ellie and Joel's relationship for granted - even before she found out the truth, they had to work to stay in each other's lives and even if it was hard and jagged around the edges, it was beautiful and worth it in the end

Joel Miller makes me miss my father. He died when I was just 10 years old. He is the best. He had sinned, yes. That's just an addition to the complexity of this world.
The only part of Part 2 I keep with me as canon. Joel is genuinely the best dad, and it breaks my heart that he had to spend so long being rejected and shut out of his daughter's life. You just know how much pain he was in when even the slightest olive branch of " I want to try to forgive you" breaks him like that. How Ellie can see that level of love and devotion and still claim that her life doesn't matter because she didn't die on that damn table is beyond me. Like, I get that it doesn't matter in the way you were hoping it would when a vaccine to save humanity had been made because of your immunity, but it obviously couldn't matter more to Joel 😭
I was thinking the same thing like people want this GRAND reason for them to be alive when most of the time it’s to matter to someone else to love and be loved to help heal someone’s heart she may not have saved the world (and let’s be real there was no guarantee she would) but she saved Joel’s world, his life and his humanity Plus she was told by others that was she was meant to do she didn’t come up with saving humanity on her own which is kind of sad as well

Somehow in my mind i think that killing Joel will be a good thing. Not only does it make ellie undergo character development, Joel will just become a talking NPC that has a major role before. Joel arc is finished. He got his revenge, he got what he wanted, he regained something he had lost. What more can he give in season 2? Don't take it in the wrong way. I would love to see more of this duo's father and daughter moments.
that would make no sense, and would be ridiculous. there is no way they are going to do that. the entire basis of the last of us part 2, and ostensibly season 2, is that joel gets killed by abby. if she doesn't, there is no plot.
@@wearingspacesuits for those of us that haven’t played this game (the vast majority of the casual viewers) The show does not exist without Pedro Pascal. No one is going to watch the show without him. Bella Ramsey is a great actor and I really was sold on her the last few seasons but she cannot carry the show on her own. If Pedro pascal isn’t there, the show is going to lose a large audience (probably most of its audience) and hbo will not allow that. From what I understand the rest of the game sucked anyway so they may as well make up their own story moving forward. They’ve got good writers to do it.
@@vidyasundaram864 Well considering Neil already confirmed they are going to stick to what happens to Joel in the last of us part 2, you're in a for a big surprise lmao
This is what we should've gotten it would've been perfect and could've possibly been the best game of all time surpassing red dead redemption 2. But nope we got Abbyzilla instead and all the woke mombo jomnbo. I don't care what anyone says part 2 never happened there is no sequel these flashbacks are the only things that are canon. It ended with that scene where Ellie wants to forgive him and they all lived happily ever after the end.
Joel's death was just.. so different man. It was unlike any other death in gaming.. it wasn't even like as sad as Arthur's death or as dramatic as john's or whatever. It was different from any character. With joel it was just straight up disrespectful and just unbelievable. With Joel's death you just go through all stages of grief, anger, depression, denial, disappointed and revenge all. It was so frustrating, it was unexpected. Like the whole time it's like.. nah no way he's gonna die like this and then just bam. I can never forgive that death man. Not a heroes sacrifice or any heroes redeemable hero's death like arthur or.. any like end game badass death speech like big smoke or john or nothing. He just went out.. his brain smashed with a golf club the first two hours of the game spitted on his corpse with no great funeral or ceremony or even proper revenge, like nah man.. you don't just kill off a character like that.. not any character, JOEL! one of the best there ever was. Sure he was not a good person but what do you expect in a universe like that when you have already lost one of your daughters to humans not even letting you say goodbye to her or asking her anything.. it was all out on force. AND HE SAVED ABBY TOO. I don't even blame abby for killing joel. The blame is all on naughty dog for freaking writing it like that. His death was unlike any other and hit me so hard. You connect to joel so much in many ways. He was the most human and relatable character, kinda like arthur. Sad we got to see him like that man. No matter what I don't believe that. A legend. Literally a legend
Why she treat him like that ?? I know that this shit is not real. But if it was me I would have showed him so much I’ve and treat him like my real father 😢
Joel resembles my father, i think that's why i can't bring myself to like Abby. Now i'll never get new cutscenes or dialogues of this amazing character ever again, and that is such a waste, man! Anyway, have a good day everyone.
I still get the timeline so mixed up. Did they have the confrontation before he offered her the guitar or is that later? I know I’m being vague but I don’t want to say much more because of spoilers.
2034: Joel chooses to save Ellie, takes her to Jackson, gives her the guitar 2035: Ellie’s birthday 2036: Ellie finds out the truth 2038: Ellie wants to forgive Joel, the next day Joel is murdered
he lied to her and said the fireflies didn’t need her for a vaccine. the truth is he killed the fireflies and ran away with her so she’d live. he kept this lie for years and it ate at her. she thought that her life being used for a vaccine would have given her suffering purpose. but joel was smart and knew nothing was worth sacrificing her life. imo the fireflies weren’t capable of mass producing a vaccine anyway and in the long run it wouldn’t have saved that many more ppl.
Because he lied to her and she got mad about it, cause she trusted him with every fiber of her soul. Plus she grow up and she got tougher after she found out he lied to her. I guess the vengeance quest is also because she can't forgive herself for how she wasted a lot of time hating Joel's lies rather than forgiving him.
The thought of him first discovering the museum, clearing out the infected. Then walking around thinking, Ellie's gonna love this. The excitement he has until the day he can show it to her must be hard to contain.

Petition to save Joel!!!! Or at the VERY least save his death for the end of season 3 !
Joel shouldn’t died in the second game
in 0:5 till 0:25 the song she’s listening to is the same one from the trailer how did i just notice
joel deserved so much better and from what i heard there is talk about him being killed in the final of the hbo show this season too
Well since Joel Milles is Neil Druckmann's creation he can do whatever he wants with his character.
that would make no sense, and would be ridiculous. there is no way they are going to do that. the entire basis of the last of us part 2, and ostensibly season 2, is that joel gets killed by abby. if she doesn't, there is no plot.
I don't think they're going to kill off Joel in the first season. That wouldn't make any sense.
Best Dad. Terrible human being.
I’d let him be my dad for sure
🥵
@@gamingisfuun wrong emoji for a dad 😧
A legend. Literally a legend
that's life
@JadedJester what? people get murdered all the time in real life. A lot of people don't succeed. That's life.
@JadedJester jeez cry me a river
@JadedJester you didn't like the story and you cry about it, it is what it is.
@JadedJester transby? lmao. Her body was based on a real woman's body; an athlete. Still crying about it?
6:58 I’d climb the dinosaur
After the museum, you can tell their relationship has changed slightly.
Why she treat him like that ?? I know that this shit is not real. But if it was me I would have showed him so much I’ve and treat him like my real father 😢
Can someone please explain to me why she's so reserved with him in the beginning?
That's just her personality, her character
Joel looks like Gerard Butler in the thumbnail😅
I've always seen the resemblance!
Joel resembles my father, i think that's why i can't bring myself to like Abby. Now i'll never get new cutscenes or dialogues of this amazing character ever again, and that is such a waste, man! Anyway, have a good day everyone.
Really sucks he was killed. He was a bad man the 20 years before he met her though. Maybe it was deserved, feels like a GoT type death.
Joel from part 2 became smiley and Ellie became a man....
Why they made them so awkward in this game idk its me
This Is why Neil druckman hates the character much because he is a good father figure. He is not perfect but he is a good DAD.
I still get the timeline so mixed up. Did they have the confrontation before he offered her the guitar or is that later? I know I’m being vague but I don’t want to say much more because of spoilers.
This is all ordered chronologically.
2034: Joel chooses to save Ellie, takes her to Jackson, gives her the guitar
2035: Ellie’s birthday
2036: Ellie finds out the truth
2038: Ellie wants to forgive Joel, the next day Joel is murdered
Don't you mean joel been the best 'dead' ?
Holy shit, I thought pt 2 was supposed to be bad
it's not
He's not what I would call the best dad more like a decent one.
Name of the song that Ellie is listening
Through the Valley by Shawn James!
This is the absolute worst sequel in the history of sequels. How did they fuck up such a legendary game?!?
naah man, druckmann turn my heart and soul inside out with these ones
Why is Ellie so cold to Joel
She knows he spared her life instead of having her killed to make a virus
*vaccine
Ellie has her reasons
he lied to her and said the fireflies didn’t need her for a vaccine. the truth is he killed the fireflies and ran away with her so she’d live. he kept this lie for years and it ate at her. she thought that her life being used for a vaccine would have given her suffering purpose. but joel was smart and knew nothing was worth sacrificing her life.
imo the fireflies weren’t capable of mass producing a vaccine anyway and in the long run it wouldn’t have saved that many more ppl.
I wonder if Pedro knows the story on pt.2😂
Took a few tries but I found him, the Joel I needed to see 👏🫶🌹
