Evan, it has been really noticeable how tickled you are to be full time farming and you tubing. You always have a little smile and a renewed energy and motivation. I’m so happy for you!
Evan has been putting out longer and more frequent videos. I think he's doing a good job. Let him rest at times. He will get burnt out if he over does it. You don't want that.
Yeah he's already probably doubled his posts each week and some of them have been longer especially the fencing videos...not sure where you've been that you havent noticed that yet.
My 85 yr old grandmother still live traps skunks. She the covers them with a small tarp and takes them to a water trough till the "bubbles stop". Puts it in a pre dug hole and digs the next. 10 year count....63.
Looking good Evan and Rebecca. You two have the Sheep Wrangling down pretty good. The Shop/Garage will look so much better with all that pipe put up. Maybe make a pipe rack to store it on? Keep up the fine work you're getting done, a little each day helps the mess go away. Stay safe and keep up the great work and fun you all have around there. Fred.
Hello 👋. I saw a video, where a guy used a oil skimmer to suck up his duck weed off his pond . He feed it to his chickens. I know it’s made in the USA but i can’t remember the manufacturer. Hope this helps you. Keep up the great videos. God bless everyone here
I was able to live trap skunks on two separate occasions. Picked the traps up and stuck them in big black trash bags to transport them. No spraying, but I sure was nervous.
You can live trap that skunk. How you get it out of the trap. After you catch it. Get an old blanket or some cover hold it up over your face walk up to trap and cover it. Keep him clam then put trap up take it and relocate it some where else. How you open the trap is stand behind the trap reach up and open it up and the he will walk out with any problems with spray
They make a live trap for skunks that is basically a length of 6” pvc pipe. The theory is if the skunk can’t hump up and raise its tail, it cannot spray. Go to Minnesota trapline products…or other trapping supply places to order.
A couple of wheat straw square bales in that trench would prevent further erosion there beside the beans. It doesn't look pretty but you learned a valuable lesson.
Live trapping skunks are no big deal, have done it a few times. It helps if sides of live traps have solid surfaces so they can’t see you. And even then if they get you good you can’t really smell it as your olfactory sense is overloaded. It’s the people around you that notice it most. I use enzyme cleaner from pet store to wash everything, clothes, shoes, myself 😊. Works better than anything else I’ve found, it breaks down the proteins in the spray. You can buy it by the gallon.
Livestock will find any open gate or break in the fence. I was in town picking up an online auction purchase and ate at Jersey Mike's. Of course had some rain.
Love how you guys have matured in to your RUclipsr roles. Love your videos. Want to see more experiences. I enjoy the loving relationship you and Becky have.
Here is how to live trap a skunk after you get it in your live trap hold a old sheet or blanket up where it can't see you till you can cover the whole trap trust me it works
skunks... Put the cat food up high off the floor, where it's easy to get at for you and the cats. Skunks don't climb, and with the food source removed, they'll quit coming round.
There is a person or 2 that trap skunks around the area they use a pvc pipe trap that won’t allow the skunk to arch its back to spray a neighbor up the road had them trap some skunks around their grain bins
We feed 6-8 wild kitties in our neighborhood. The cleanup crew, AKA bandit raccoons, clean us out regularly. Discouragement? Wait 'till you're nearly 77! Ha! I don't even wanta do FUN things! 🙂 I like that orange. Forgetfulness. It begins to happen when you get to be a bit older. Sorry. And you can mix that rust in with Rebekah's mushrooms for more iron! Man. I'm a bad boy today! And no signs of fowl play ... Evan, you and I are on the same bad comedy stage! 🙂
This might be a silly idea but are you able to drive any of those smaller pipes in to the ground at the pig fence where the pigs wallow is to help stop the water from eroding underneath the fence
It bothers me that you built such a nice shop but always work outside hahah. I am glad to see you repainting that post hole auger. Was gonna say when u do seals if you could to paint it. My dad was always under the impression if it was in the shop and you could spend just a few more hours on a peice of equipment to make it like new... or in better condition because if you start to let it go then it's not long before you treat it like junk.... and then eventually it ends up at the junk yard cause it's old and has many flaws and not worth it to fix... but if you keep it looking good you'll take better care of it.
About 2 minutes in on this video and live trap skunks is mentioned. I unexpectedly caught a skunk in a live trap. Approach the trap with a blanket spread out in late afternoon after work and the skunk was relatively docile and would rather be sleeping. Placed covered trap in the pickup and drove it 3 miles down t the river to let it free. Uneventful. Found that they are unlikely to spray unless very agitated and have relatively poor eyesight, especially during the day.
Why don't you dig a small trench across the top of your garden (about a foot or so deep) and line it with weed fabric, then fill it with gravel. This would then divert any heavy rainfall around the outside and prevent any erosion of the garden.
Would a swale on the high side of your garden help any? Or is it more of a pain than it's worth... That rain event from the hurricane really turned out to be a nice soaker. I was worried, when the remnants of hurricane Ike came through, I think we got 8 or 9 inches of rain here in IL.
Hi, Evan and Rebekah! My favorite parts today were when you were working on the Allis Chalmers and when you and Rebekah were herding the ewes. Thanks for this video.
Idea's for pipe.........slide the shorter pieces of 2 3/8's into the 2 7/8's , weld them together to make 8 to 10 foot Posts you can then cement\drive into the ground for future Hbraces and\or 'T' braces !!!
Evan........another great video, always something to keep my interest. However................lose the carpenters hammer and put it with your wood working tools. Not a good tool for beating on metal. Get a ball pein or an engineer hammer if your whacking on chisels or other large chunks of metal. That's what they were made for. Claw hammers are made for persuading lumber and nails. Keep up the good work.
Hi Evan, at 16:39 you were craning your neck to try and see the positioning of the forks. I thought about a solution and came up with a camera and screen (ala back up camera) mounted on the fork frame and a covered screen on or near the dash, just a thought.
The seals in my old brush hog and post hole digger both leak. I switched to 00 cotton head grease from Tractor Supply, no more leaks. Some people use grease from a grease gun. I would suggest after you install the new seals, to switch to grease, and you’ll never have a leak again.
Corn head Grease - Tractor Supply 00 grease same thing. It gets warm and lubes like regular oil but doesn't lead out. I have seen people put regular grease in the gear boxes but that trick works if you want to sell it. Sometimes the shafts just wear enough that the new seals don't seal anymore.
Nice to see you back to working on the Allis-Chalmers, yep that looks like the right color to me. The Ewe's probably think that your the best to let them have a free wander day, ha ha! Good luck with the rest of the AC restorations, I hope you and Rebekah have a good evening!👋
When I was a kid, 50 years ago, we used to get skunks in the chicken coop. Dad had a small door cut high on the side, a pole with a rope and snare attached. He would grab them by the tail and lift the back legs off the ground. My job to pull down on the pole while he went inside with gloves and grabbed the skunk by the tail. That skunk would be hay wired to the top strung of the barbed wire fence and disposed of. No spray. He said they can not spray if the back legs are off the ground. Who knew? Good luck
Hold a tarp up between you and the skunk in the live cage so it doesn't see you and slowly walk up to the cage and cover it with the tarp so that it drapes all around the cage when you pick it up You can then carry the covered cage to where you plan to release it and then slowly pull the tarp up just enough to open the cage and release
Rule #1 when raising critters...ALWAYS close any gate you open once you are through it. It's a pain to open and close gates constantly, but those sneaky varmints have radar or a sixth sense for open gates!🤪 Other than that little hiccup, EXCELLENT day! Go Farmer/Video master, Evan!
I made cattle guard crossings with my scrap oil pipe. Some just wide enough to walk across. Save me having to open gates all the time. Just make sure they are long enough, so animals will not jump them.
No farmer worth his salt, accidentally leaves a gate open mate, First and most important rule in farming, never walk away from a gate, unless it’s exactly as it was when you got to it
Great to see you both, sorry about the yew escape & dead turkey. Also noted that you used the blower without a mask = not a good idea! Enjoy July!!❣️🇨🇦
Evan, If you take old hay and roll it into a sausage shape about 6-8 inches cross section and then tie it with twine using an old electrical wire tie technique to create a bundle of hay then lay it out on the uphill area where the erosion starts and continues it will stop alot of the erosion. They use bundles like that on highway construction. You can also use netting from hay bales to wrap it and make it where it creates a sausage or snake that can be layed out across the path for erosion and it will help spread the flow of water and trap the soil.
Evan, it has been really noticeable how tickled you are to be full time farming and you tubing. You always have a little smile and a renewed energy and motivation. I’m so happy for you!
We were both having a decluttering day today. You get the gold medal 18:29
Oneof my favorite channels!
mine also, been out of Wack due to 5 days of hurricane destruction, have some catching up to do now that I am back on line, jb
Now that You are a full time tuber , You need to put out more videos & longer ones too ! We all, would like that !! I LOVE YOU BOTH !! 🥰 🥰
He’s already increased both the frequency and the length of videos considerably since he left his day job.
Someone always has to judge..😢
I think he’s doing great
My 85 yr old grandmother still live traps skunks. She the covers them with a small tarp and takes them to a water trough till the "bubbles stop". Puts it in a pre dug hole and digs the next. 10 year count....63.
Wow! Good for her at that age. We have coyote problems by us. Not skunks
A woman after my own heart! My count is 5, and I’m only 68! But i didnt start til just a few years ago!
Hi..... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
I love how you call them Ewe-Ewes, and they come running!
I wish I had your shop skills. Nice work. Thanks for sharing your process

Thanks for sharing your experience and hope you are doing well mate
Always a little bump in the road with you Evan, Love it, Good that sheep flock together LOL
Thanks for sharing 😊🙏👍❤️
Sheep getting out, relaxed attitude, scruffy beard, retirement fits you well.
Who's retired???? Evan still works 40+ hours. Have you ever run a youtube channel??
Never a dull day at Country View Acres! Love it!
Your a humble soul, a great trait to have. You have my respect !

No fowl play suspected. Padumpum 🥁😁

Glad you gave an update on the AC tractor, I just asked about it a couple days ago. As usual, good job on keeping up with the farm.

"🎶 I want ewe back where ewe belong!" 😄
You working on the A-C tractor is a life-long commitment!
I’d recommend changing that output bearing. It looks awfully rusted. No more than it’d cost while you’re in there! Keep up the good work!
Hello Evan & Rebecca
Bevel gear. Planetary will usually have three smaller gears on a ring.
Hello Evan Rebecca enjoyed your video. Fun when they get loose well hope you know what I mean. Have a great day.
Love watching ❤

Look good
IF STUFF AINT BRAKIN, YOU AINT FARMIN , YOU DO VERY NICE WORK, GOOD LUK
Livestock will find any open gate or break in the fence. I was in town picking up an online auction purchase and ate at Jersey Mike's. Of course had some rain.
Cover a live trap with a black plastic trash bag and only leave the opening clear it works for any critter you are trying to get.
Love how you guys have matured in to your RUclipsr roles. Love your videos. Want to see more experiences. I enjoy the loving relationship you and Becky have.

I hope your going to replace the bearing on the spur gear shaft. The one that on the shaft now, looks like it's about to die
Sure do look forward to seeing your videos! Thanks and have a good day! 👍

We do NOT use a carpenter's claw hammer for mechanical work haha!

Yes, it's a shame he didn't build a tall awning with the barn. I have one and it's prime territory.
The sound of the paint sprayer filling with paint reminds me of a scary monster in a movie. LOL 👾
❤❤VIDEO ❤❤
You ewes! 🤠
We got to get you a 4 lb machinists hammer instead of that claw hammer club. LOL
That is called a Pinion gear I think.
👍

ooops needed a paint filter cone to pour into the gun canister
No signs of fowl play? Well that’s the answer! They need some fun in their lives!
I love it when a plan comes together! Oh my goodness look at that Pond?
If a skunk can’t lift its hind legs in the live trap it won’t be able to spray had one in my garage and he couldn’t spray, Evan
Love all your videos, you and Becky are so kind to your animals, and I love all the interesting jobs you both do around the farm 👍🙏
that was a good video

Finally!!!! Yes!!!
can you make wind chimes out of those pipes? serious question.
If you put a blanket over the trap the skunk will not spray. They won’t spray if they can’t see
it cant spray after lead pills either
@@harleythrelkeld7587that skunk has just as much right to live as you and I
Turkey found dead. "No signs of fowl play" LOL

Maybe its just me, but you seem to have extra spring in your step since going full time on RUclips. I find it very encouraging!
Hi, Evan and Rebekah! My favorite parts today were when you were working on the Allis Chalmers and when you and Rebekah were herding the ewes. Thanks for this video.
Thanks Evan and Rebekah
The ghost of King George 111 sent the rain on July the 4th and a bolt of lightning to kill your poultry. Ps I’m in Uk
I gree with the other viewers you need to make your films longer we love watching. You are a very talented family. RF
Just wondering if you’re going to shear your sheep??
I know you are really enjoying being home! Happy for you and Rebekah!

It would be better for your wallet..... buy some heritage turkey breeds. Love your videos. My wife and I watch your videos. We're in Vermont
Contrary to popular belief a pig is a very clean animal, and they don’t like muddy enclosures

On your erosion problem, you could build a small levee on the uphill side. Just adopt 8 to 10 inches to direct the water to the outside of the garden.
Looking Good..Continued Success.

A Border Collie would be nice.
Do you have a driveway gate in your future plans? One of those electric gates that run on solar would be great.
Hi guys!
Thanks 👍
That is a straight cut bevel gear set the small one can be called the pinion if it’s cut on a shaft as one piece.
Where is that fancy paint booth you bought. I also have been waiting for the video of it being put back into its bag.
Good to see you Evan working on the homestead....the fields look amazing...ps I'm sad not seeing your dogs out running around??
Good job. 🙂
Thx

good to hear the temps. Prior to C19, I was looking to move to Lethbridge. Now, maybe not. Get rid of trudeaux
