This album really drags it all out of me. Whoever put the CD rip of this through my door with a note saying, "I think you'll like this mate", I want them to know I'm eternally grateful! I'm watching/listening to this in a pub, I have to leave before people see the tears rolling down my cheeks.

A friend introduced me to Big Pink yesterday + I was a bit of a fan right away, given how they had that sort of JAMC meets Stone Roses/Sueded kinda thing going, but in their own way. So I was looking up some vids here and found yours, and was very happy to see that you shot here in SF. I liked it.
This song hits so close to home… My last relationship was a very difficult one to get over, actually in many ways I still haven’t gotten over it. We’d know each other for years, but never took the relationship any further. Everyone knew we were interested in each other always flirting staying up later than everyone else just talking for hours after drinking at friends’ houses. It was one of those “just shut up and get it over with. We could cut the sexual tension in the air with a knife” sort of thing for our friends. Eventually both of us were single at the same time and one night we did make our relationship something more. I’ve never felt what I felt that night before or since then, and may never feel it again. Our relationship was burnt so intensely and so bight that we were on cloud 9. She was like a drug I couldn’t get enough of. A high I never wanted to come down from. Unfortunately, eventually every fire fades and every drug gets broken down. We loved each other so intensely that we burnt ourselves out… We had finally gotten what we had wanted for years only for it to turn to acid. We became toxic for each other. To this day I still wonder if it was just because we both were doing opiates while we were together and that’s why we were toxic or were we actually toxic for one other? I’ll never forget how I felt the last night I saw her… the last kiss she gave me before closing the door, literally, on me and our relationship while I hung my head trying not to cry. My heart was shattered, because I loved her so much. I fell in love with her even before we dated. It was the first night we stayed up talking at her and her boyfriend’s apartment till the sun came up. When she closed that door… I don’t even remember driving home or getting inside and laying on my bed. It was like I had floated gently down on my bed through the ceiling. Life really hasn’t been the same since. Everything has kinda lost its brightness and all color is kinda washed out and faded. I tried hating her, but I was just lying to my Self. I knew that in my heart I wasn’t capable of hating her. I tried dating other people but nothing felt right. I felt like I was just trying to fill this massive void in my heart with no real intention of allowing them to fill it, so I stopped dating all together. She burrowed her way into my heart and the roots are too deep to pull her out of it. The hole her love left within my heart has made me feel like less of a person. Hollow. Like I’m broken beyond repair. I tried picking up the pieces and putting them back together only to notice a lot are missing. Missing because she has them. I feel hollow sometimes but can ignore it for varying lengths of time: sometimes months sometimes only days. As much as I love this song, it reminds me of that night and intensifies the hollow feeling inside me. …so it’s going to be a long, long while till I listen to this song again…
Music is unfortunately a little bit cursed like that, once it's routed to a memory, it's only as healthy for you as that memory is. I'm sorry that you have been in pain and sincerely hope that you're doing better today. Love is a beautiful thing, sure as hell feels like you can never move on from it when you've lost it. It will find you again and it will do right by you in the end. Give yourself a chance, keep your head high and good luck to you.
I used to love Owl City until they hit the radio, then everyone was crazy over them. I wish the Big Pink would get a lot more money, but I would hate if they went on the radio.
