Wow those stores were stocked. I was particularly impressed with that display stand for the Costa Farms plants in you first HD stop. It's so much nicer than the pallet-looking wood things they normally have! What a glow-up!

I haven’t seen a Home Depot or a Lowes in Northeast Florida come anywhere near looking like these stores. What a shame I’m slightly jealous 😀
I'm in NE Florida too and I agree. We don't have near the plant variety they have in Charlotte, NC
Not sure where you are at, but ACE Hardware in Jax on San Jose is AMAZING. I leave with something each time I go.
Hi Ashley, I have that Episcia. It grows like crazy. I have had mine for a couple of years and have given away so many propagations. You can lay one of the runners in a pot of soil and it will root, or I like to take cuttings and put them into a small self-watering pot. They root readily. I do let mine dry out between waterings. In my experience Episcia are finicky plants, may languish in one location and thrive in another, so finding the right spot is key. My sister-in-law says they need humidity. I have one growing in my kitchen under normal indoor lights and no natural light whatsoever and it"s been there for 2 years growing and blooming. Sometimes a big chunk will fall off, the stem just gives out, but you can root it.

The ZZ your talking about is the chameleon ZZ. Somehow I got lucky and first time I even heard of it I found it on clearance at lowes. So of course I had to get it. 😀

Love that Syngonium, just stunning! With regards to the large pot of multiple plants; I would have bought it and divided the individual species into their own pots. Then you get a bunch of plants at once for a likely lower price. Sadly most of our big box stores here in Canada have already removed most gardening stuff. Walmart cleared out theirs by the end of July, the others still have a few plants but the good stuff will be gone til spring. You can usually only find the most common house plants at big box shops in the off season. :(

I have the smaller espicia plant and love her but currently recovering from spider mites. Until recently my pink panther espiscia was carefree. My HD had lacunosa hoya in the 6 inch basket for $11.98. Of course, I purchased a couple since they were so full and beautiful!

Love seeing the 'Episcia' brings back so many memories of my childhood, where it was an outdoor plant (in the Caribbean). Haven't seen them in stores here though. Thanks for sharing.

I agree about the mixed plants in one pot… however… the question I would ask myself is… how much would the individual plants cost and would it save me money to get the mixed pot and replant for species I liked!
My favorite plants are alocacias and sisi ..

Davana is Phlebodium fern, like Blue star, the care is exactly the same. I have it for 3 year now and it grows like crazy))
Highly recommend the unique ficus in the beginning. I got mine around 6 mos ago very easy care and hearty.

I would definitely got the Episcia probably both lol also would have got a black dragon Janet Craig raven zz (even though I have like 3 lol they are just so darn goegeous) and maybe torture myself again with another sleeping beauty waffle plant also torture myself with another Calathea (any variety they all seem to hate me but one day I'll have success)

Lovely haul Ashley, that Episcia, which is in fact pronounced Epishia, is so lush and full. I grow several varieties and they do not like their roots to dry out plus it makes them attract spider mites more if left to dry out. Also make sure to not get water on the leaves as they rot very quickly. I hope you have it for years to come. I am intrigued by the new ZZ plant so will keep my eye out if they make it to the UK. 🤗🤗

At 40:10, I get those spots on the stems when I over water the zz plant especially when I first got it. After I learned the watering schedule I dont get those black spots anymore

I am literally in shock at the Home Depot footage. I have never, ever been to a Home Depot with THAT many plants. I’m in Greenville, SC. You would think we’d have something comparable to Charlotte. My local HD doesn’t even have a 1/3 of that.

Hey got a snake plant and it has a sour smell do I need to take it out of the pot and rinse off the old soil and put new it is a moonshine one it a nice size please let me soon
Try Planterina for Aglaonema. Bought a Romeo and a Juliette, for obvious reasons, last winter - they grew so much over the summer had to move a picture to a higher position on the wall. Will be buying more plants this winter - only time period to buy plants (same for candles and English chocolate) on line for delivery to Scottsdale, Arizona. 🌵🇬🇧😢

I found some great plants lately. I went to a Lowes and I found a Hoya HP-70 and a Hoya Lacunosa. I debated which one I should get, so I bought both of them for $14.00 each. I went to Wal-Mart, yesterday and I found a Trending Tropical Pink Princess for $19.00. I was going to get it, but I already have one that I payed triple that price for. But, ever since I found those Hoyas, I keep running to all the Lowe’s to see if I can find more.

The genus name is derived from the Greek επισκισς (episkios), meaning "shaded". This refers to the understory habitat of these plants.
Safe to say you are pronouncing it correctly. Anyone trying to correct you is trying to follow US English rules for phonetics. This is a Greek/Latin derived word though, so it doesn’t apply.

Those Lowe’s and Home Depot really pretty plants I would have gotten teddy bear plant and the Episia I love them I don’t know why they aren’t popular they also send out babies sort of like the spider plant

That syngonium you got looks like my Holly, it's nearly pure white. Loves lots of water! And those large lithops are actually Split Rock plants. Mine died unfortunately 😅 I finally found a Xanthosoma locally, been hunting for over a year 😊

I’m from PA and so envious! Our selection in the summer doesn’t even compare to your worst months of the year!! How are you able to go look at all these plants and go home with pity buying! Hi ashley, I love the proven winner collection plants...here in MN they sell them too at our local home depot and I have got many now! I recently got alocasia ninjia( you have to look at the tags they are all labled with the proven winner brand!) and an alocasia dragon scale both for $20....highly recommend this brand!

I sold my Alocasia frydek. While the leaves are nice, it gets leggy. It grew like crazy in a short time. But I’d rather grow a Philodendron gloriosum. Can’t really get into Alocasias. The big box stores seem to all have the same plants, with the random surprise

I saw some yesterday at Lowes and wanted so badly to get one, but I am trying to be patient and hoping that mine gets bigger soon. Do you have one at home and how do you care for yours? Loved this shopping video- we look forward to all of your videos. That syngonium is lovely, the leaves are so large (it looks similar to my white caladium).
