Hi! u know what I'm too tired to watch over and over again "foreigners react to Philippine singers" content. But your channel was recommended to me and what interest me is that, the little podcasts you made. Not just saying, "She is soo good" (which I heard a million times)! But you have these discussion that we as your viewers can also say "yeah that's true", "she's a little bit exage there!" etc. etc! I can relate your reaction with KZ. I literally cried when I first saw her performance in Singer 2018. My emotion at that time were mixed and all swirling that my tears just fell unknowingly because the swirl of emotions are choking me, I couldn't take it anymore. It was that overwhelming and wonderful. My ears, my eyes were really blessed to witness KZ's performance.
Agree with u! Morissette is about the little details, the nuances, and it's part of her story telling. I love the musical choices she makes, like how judicious she is with her runs, or that she observes dynamics and takes the time to build up a song, and considers where to put a growl or a squeak.
Kz is the winner of the Pilipinas Got Talent 5 yrs back. Shes good at creating her insanely own version of any song she wishes to highlight.
The contest where Jesse & KZ are is for all artist in China & other artist in different countries competing each other & every week there is an elimination. She is a winner in the X factor Philippines, i forgot which season.
2012, the only season. She was against Katrina Velarde, Michael Pangilinan, and Sam Mangubat. All of them are popular now but KZ's just different

The singer is a vocal competition for professional singers. It showcases singers all over the world and its a big stage and market to promote you're career.... Kz is such a talented singer,composer,arranger,rapper and a true blooded artist.

I was smiling from ear to ear the whole time and I had a great time watching you guys in "awe" from start to finish and thank you so much Waleska for explaining the voice technicalities (i don't know if it is the right term) it sorts of educating us on this area and it gives us new knowledge about the techniques and stuff, please continue, i love it! Trivia: Katrina Velarde, KZ Tandingan, Morisette, Bugoy, Daryl & Michael were a product of different television singing contest. Morisette & Daryl were from The Voice Philippines. Jaya is a veteran singer/actress and yes she's a mentor and often a judge at tv singing competition. It was fun and I can't wait to watch more💜
Oh yeah & Efra you were right, Philippines was colonized by Spaniards for 300 years and as I recalled on my history class, but im not sure, that during those times, Spain also colonized some countries in South America. We are also a tropical country like in South America so we mostly grew crops that are same as yours. And, is that "lechon" you were talking about ealier, the pig or pork stuff you mentioned. KZ did perform in London BBC Radio 94.9 FM last year. Her Wish Bus performances of Royals and Rolling in the Deep made me a fan before she competed on SInger 2018. Her debut on Singer was on episode 5, I believe it's in here on RUclips. Because of that show I got to know other phenomenal artists outside our mainstream knowledge. Sure we know Jessie J, I knew KZ by default because she's from my country. But the likes of So Hyang, Hua Chen Yu and one Dimash Kudaibergen is what got me liking the show despite language barriers. Thank goodness for closed captioning.
Funfact: The song "Reflection" in Mulan and "A Whole New World" (Jasmine part) in Aladin is originally sung by a Filipino singer Ms. Lea Salonga😊
After watching KZ's cover of Rolling in the Deep, I can never go back and listen to Adele's version again. It's insane how KZ's version got stuck in my mind and how she's made the song totally her own!

Now kz has a wide range of music. U now should react to her performance of "the hurts you never knew" Chinese medley on the same show. It's such an emotional power ballad she learned the song even though she doesn't know mandarin in two weeks time. Yet she owned the song as that pain was her own. It's so beautiful

KZ arranged it all herself. I believe that each artist only has 24 hrs to make a song their own and they're NOT allowed to use any auto-tune. She just has the reverb all the way up. She actually won that episode. If you want to learn more, check out KZ's version of "Close To You"

A little history lesson. Ferdinand Magellan discovered Philippines for Spain in 1521. We gained independence from them in 1898. Then the US took over. The Spanish was taught in school until the 1970s. Culturally we are part of the latin world. I have seen a youtube video a celebration of latin countries where Philippines participated.
Yeah the book taught us that FM the 1 who discovered the philippines but the truth is he is'nt ..
@@genzganz7362 That is why I wrote "discovered for Spain" because they obviously did not know we exist unlike the rest of the "Eastern" world. :) Thankfully these days we are made aware of our precious history before the conquerors came.
Thats why Wynwyn Marquez a Filipina won the hispanoamericana 2017, the pegeant of all country under Spanish before, and before Mexico and Philippines were just closer because of Acapulco, the trade etc...Mexican was the one taught the Filipino to revolt against Spanish....Mexican and Filipinos are cousins...Southern part of the Philippines still a lot of Spanish words(Zamboanga) their dialect is Chabacano and almost spanish ....Philippines still a member of International Spanish Language...

Thank you for appreciating and supporting these Filipino artists, sadly they are underrated artists and only getting recognition here on RUclips. To answer some of your questions: The Philippines _(Las Islas Filipinas)_ was 'discovered' by Portuguese Ferdinand Magellan with the Spanish Armada. Asia and The Americas was connected during the Manila-Acapulco trade where large galleons carried goods from Mexico and The Philippines. Mexico was a viceroy to the isles and the natives preferred Mexican leaders to the conquistadors because they were kind and empathic to their plight. Read somewhere that both countries had some part in helping each other gain their independence from Spain. Filipinos fought and won against Spain but they did not recognize this and instead 'sold' The Philippines to America (along with Hawaii, Cuba, Guam, and Puerto Rico). Filipinos love their ballads and does not shy away from showing their emotions and always give their all when performing even to a small audience. Singing and dancing is embedded in the culture, they love and enjoy singing, they thrive in play and are self-taught and these artists performed in countless competitions that helped hone their skills, yet they always remain humble. Again thanks for giving these artists some love, they've only recently put out some content for the online community, also heard Bugoy is working on a new album so looking forward to that.
