The music in Allucaneet Palace adds or removes instruments based on which musicians are present in the palace. (I won't say more in case you ever play it, but it's very cool.)
    (You should play it.)
Edit: Oops, I should've finished the video first. But yeah, it's neat, and is very whimsical and extremely 90s. I think you'd love it.

Giant playground battle is Big Nostalgia for me. I bought my first Dual Shock controller for the ps1, and this was literally where I loaded my save file from. This song hit so hard while experiencing that new controller's analog sticks for the 1st time. Man, they were they so much better then the N64's.

I love BFM. Great music, fun light-hearted plot, fun characters, great voice acting (even today I still enjoy it) and just overal fun gameplay. It's basically like a Zelda game in many ways, but it's also very different and unique. I think Alundra 2 has a similar vibe in terms of plot. A lot of people didn't like it because it wasn't related to Alundra 1, but I still love it. Not as much as Alundra 1, but I still think it's among the best action RPG's on the PS1.

My favorite ps1 game too bad Square gave up in giving it more sequels aside from Samurai legend Musashi.

The series hasn't seen much activity after the ps2 sequel (which has pretty catchy music as well, particularly the guardian themes)
If only someone at Square would get us a rerelease, remaster, ANYTHING. Japan got psn releases for ps3 and PSP in 2008, 14 years ago and a PS Vita psn copy in 2012 that I don't think made it over here and has been in limbo ever since other than a 20th anniversary video on the SqEn youtube channel back in 2018.. Musashi fans are basically out here fiending for a modern way (outside of emulation) to play this again other than buying $150-2000 ebay copies. Kind of like Breath of Fire fans, but I digress.

Brave Fencer Musashi and a couple other games like Parasite Eve and Einhander and I think a couple others all came from Square making way more money on Final Fantasy VII then they thought they would so they were free to try a bunch of unique and interesting new titles also a lot of people purchase this game just to get the demo for Final Fantasy 8 that was included with it.

Pretty sure that's pretty hard to do for some of those games. BFM and Parasite Eve came out 1 to 1.5 years or so after FFVII. Even back then that's just not enough time for a game to be successful and to start up and finish multiple major projects that quickly.

Oh man now This is nostalgia music for me. Grew up with Musashi as my main game for PS1.
Looking back, this game was basically an amazing anime that you can play as a game.
The kingdom is in danger and the princess summons a hero from another world. We play as this little Blue-haired swordsman. Strong enough to lift whole robot soldiers and chuck em. Taunting them as you do so!
The Main theme “The Musashi Legend” will always be my favorite theme from this game, but honestly, almost every track is memorable.

As a guy that never got to play BFM but listened to a lot of vgm music the giant midair battle is popular enough that I've even heard it. I always thought it was a bop

Was such an amazingly fun and unique game back in the day. Comedic and serious when it needed to be.

I never played Brave Fencer Musashi myself, but my brother had it way back when and I watched him play through most of the game because it was just that good. You're completely right about the game not taking itself too seriously - Not only was it set in the Allucaneet kingdom, but most of the characters were named after different foods, like Butler Livers and Princess Fillet. I remember there being a lot of subtle, quirky humor scattered throughout the game, especially in the dialogue. It really added to the overall light-hearted feel of the game.

Brave Fencer Musashi is a gem of a game, a perfect storm of ingenuity, music and even VA delivery (that last one being an absolutely insane feat for the time it came out). Funny enough, the game was packed with a demo disc for FFVIII; so I know a lot of people that bought the game only for the demo, yet sorta pushed it aside after playing the game that came alongside it. The "sequel"...is not one I can recommend on good faith for several reasons, but the music was good too.

Try Fight at Underground Factory and Relics Keepers theme and find the difference.
Try Frost Dragon's theme too. It's good.
    Skullpion's theme also good.

I also love it when a bgm is looped so well that you don't even notice it.

One of my absolute favourite games of all time. The entire game is magical and they really don't make them like this anymore.
About the characters in the palace theme, these are NPCs that are trapped and scattered throughout the entire world, and when you rescue any one of them, they appear in the palace, and the BGM will change according to the instrument they're tied to. So in the beginning, it's only the tune without any of their instruments, and as you rescue more than more, the instrument adds to the BGM in the palace! It's just such a magical thing to experience and not seen in any other games at that time.

This game is like a very lighthearted, condensed Square experience. Designed to hook you fast and upfront instead of late gratification and long deep investment.
    A nostalgic charm gem.
