- Its November and the Garrick/Leervis are finally back at Mazeppa Bay in large shoals whilst moving south along the Wildcoast. Spawning completed and the shoals of sardines moved out to deeper waters, these cool water game fish aggressively track down the top water chisel nose plugs we throw at them. These fish are big and strong and angling guide Owen Richter gets his PB off the island on a drop shot. A 108 cm monster. #transkei #garrick #amialiche #wildcoast #topwater #topwaterlure #plugs #chiselnose #landbasedfishing #bensoundmusic

ye for sure so fortunate our cool water game fish
Proper content. Love the catches from the bricks. Wanted to ask what pound braid are you loading your reel?
Thanks Aiden. I use 30 pd whiplash off the bricks. It is very thin probably equivalent to most 20 pd.
Howzit Bud, going to Transkei for new years and spending 10 days there, would GT ice creams work for Garrick? And any other lures, got plenty drop shots and spoons which I’m also taking, aswell as some small skitter Vs for Topwater in the estuary
Howzit Dylan, GT ice creams certainly work, tho not as well as standard chisel nose. Paddle tail dropshots that you would use for a cob are also great for Garrick especially in slightly off colour water. Wind em quite fast along the top. Enjoy
@@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST lekker thanks 🙏
We call them queen fish in aus
I think these are slightly different as we also get queenies that look similar. This is a Lichia Amia endemic to southern Africa, West Africa and the Mediterranean.
