I have my exam this Saturday (B2) and I've been very nervous about the reading part. I can talk freely with anyone but when it comes to any exam on paper and in a short period of time, stress builds up easily. These tips were really useful and getting to know the exam better can help release the stress I've been building up, and if you're stressed like me I recommend doing some yoga or meditation, or even box breathing, and as well try talking about it with someone like you're trying to release the stress inside. Thanks a lot for the tips and good luck everybody with your exams!
This is literally the most valuable video I've ever watched on tips for the Cambridge English exams! Thanks for having made it. Regards from Mexico!
Thank you for your comment, Miguel! I'm glad you found the video useful. Good luck with your preparation!

Thank you Ben! This is good! I may ask you though, do you recommend to do the model or example tests that are on RUclips? Or maybe it's better to try the ones that are official samples on books with audios?
Thanks Katty! From what I've seen, the RUclips example tests are fine. Of course, I haven't seen them all so I hesitate to recommend them. I should point out that it's important to check that they are relatively recent because the format of the exams changed in 2015.

Two things I'm afraid of in this exam: i fail to fill in missing paragraphs correctly for a text and writing part in different style like article, letter, proposal or report. The rest shouldn't be so hard 😀 I'm preparing for B2/C1 i don't know yet which level to apply to successfully pass.
Thanks for your tips about Cambridge exams. It will be very useful for me. I became a new follower of you! 😁

After years of using english daily, basically as the first language, I've decided to tackle straight on CPE and oh boy, is it a challenge... 7 weeks, counting down, I'm glad to have your channel as a reference point ngl
I'm taking the exam this May (on the 8th) and I've only started preparing last week... I'm pretty terrified, even though I already have a CAE and passed with an overall score of 196. I've been dedicating a lot of time to it and besides studying, I plan on taking 4 mock tests before the real one. I do hope it will work out! Thanks for the video, the tips are quite helpful. I'm looking foward to watching you video about the "use of english" paper, since it's the skill I have been struggling the most at the moment.
Don't be terrified... Just make sure you're as prepared as you can be.
I have a couple of videos on the Use of English paper so check those out.

All the best!
could you do a video explaining each part of CAE please?
I'll see what I can do 🙂
I'm taking it next month and I'm kind nervous, I have classes twice a week and don't know what else to study by myself
be curious! ask yourself how you would name the things that you see in your surroundings, how you would describe the things, situations and people you see. you can do this anywhere and at any time!
Hello. My name is Alejandra. I've been a FCE teacher for many years and one of the tips for younger teachers would be the importance of sharing mistakes with the group. Whenever students choose or do something wrong I make them share the mistake and even make a picture quickly to show the others the problem. We post it on the wall and we have it there to see it for some time.
I'm about to have CAE in 1,5 weeks. Actually I don't have the required level in vocabulary so I'm planning on gaining points by my grammar mostly. Obviously I don't abandon vocabulary aspect (especially phrasal verbs, which i hate) and trying to practice English as mush as possible although it is soooo difficult during 12th grade
How did it go?
Question for students studying for the CEA. I am just starting at a school helping students prepare for their CEA, what is the biggest stumbling block you have faced so far? What areas could teachers be more helpful in? Thanks in advance for any and all responses.
The biggest mistake students make is thinking that having an advanced level means they can pass the exam without much preparation.
I believe the best thing you can do in class is practise the different parts of the exam over and over so the students are completely familiarised with the format and demands of the exam.
Encourage them to read in English in their free time and, of course, watch all films and series in English.
And... revise all the grammar. I have another video on the grammar needed for the Use of English paper.
Sorry, just realised that you were asking the students... not me! 🤦♂️😆
@@tothepointenglishwithben. It is really no problem at all. Thanks for the videos, they are a great help.
I was wondering about taking CAE, but I've heard that mistakes are acceptable only until FCE. What happens if I make a few minor mistakes, may I not pass?
I'm taking my exam in 10 minutes, when i wrote this is 2:43 pm may 3rd, so hopefully i'll become a english talker to sound as a native one, send you a hug from Mexico
Let us know how it went!
So, how was it?
Hello, Ben!) Thanks for the video. Even though I had already known some of the tips, I enjoyed it a lot. If you don't mind me asking, is it necessary to pass the exam speaking British English? I've just been learning American one for 4 years and It would be problematic to redo some of my grammar and accent aspects.
You don't need to speak British English in the exam. Any accent is fine as long as it's understandable.
@@tothepointenglishwithben. Thanks a lot for the answer
ahah- taking it in 3 days :,) hope it will go well
YES 2 MONT EARLY IM HAVING IT ABOUT 1HOUR MORE
Teacher I need to know about CEPT exam. When you say practice the same time. You mean say I need keep in mind how long time I spend for answering the questions of the listening.
No. For the listening part you don't need to worry about time because you can't control it. I was referring to the reading and use of English part of the exam but that's for the B2 first, C1 advanced and C2 proficiency. The CEPT is different.
To read a lot of text in little time, I have difficulty with that, what strategies to use for answering questions when the text is a lot. This happen to my in Spanish Language. I don't know if to read first the question and then read the text.
I usually recommend reading the text relatively quickly first but it depends... each student should find the method which is best for them. If you're not good at fast reading then maybe it's better to read the questions first. Do as many practise test as possible to find the best option for you
Do you use teligram channel sir??
Guys i did a mock test and my level is B1 although I need B2 for doing the FCE, WHAT I CAN DO FOR IMPROVE THIS?

22 of May i will discover if this video helped me to pass the C2 ahahah
tell us!
I need to learn english ! How much ?
Do you think is better reading books or articles to learn vocabulary?
I would say articles, for two reasons. Firstly, you can read more articles than books and therefore get a wider range of lexical input. Secondly, the texts in the exams are usually non-fiction so articles are more suitable.
However, it's important to read a range of topics. Not only subjects you enjoy and find interesting.
Hello, am preparing for CAE exam. If I ll not feel quite confident before the exam, would you recommend me to rather switch and choose B2 FCE test or since I was preparing (materials, tests etc.) for CAE from the beginning its better to stay with it and try to pass it? Thank you for answer.
That's a very difficult question to answer. It depends on how much time you have to prepare, what kind of marks you're getting in the practise tests, whether you need the certification for anything in particular etc...
But, if you want a quick answer... go for the CAE. It will be more motivating and rewarding.
Can you guide me which kind of questions come and how we attempt the questions for example we have a question it's 14 marks how many lines we right how many pages write in 14 marks paper
I recommend you do sample papers in order to get to know the format of the exam. You can find free samples papers on the Cambridge exam website.
Do you think I can self study, so basically without a teacher (I want to pass for C2)
Yes, it's possible. But teacher feedback for the speaking and writing parts is useful
2:52 lol i have it tomorrow and haven’t started
I'm going to take the exam on Thursday, my anxiety is killing me. I feel like my mom wasted money for nothing, I had a teacher who helped me but I'm no convinced to do the exam
How did it go?
Thank you for the video teacher . I have some questions
I am studying for CAE
1) How many words should I memorize ( Approximately )
2)What can I do to improve my reading . For example how can I understand long paragraphs
3) If possible , can you suggest some english books to study
4) Are there any extra tips you suggest ?
1) There is no magic number of words that you need to memorize. Just focus on expanding your vocabulary in general.
2) To improve your reading, you need to read, read, read! Practise active reading - pay attention to the vocabulary and grammatical structures.
3) Books, magazines, newspapers, internet articles that you find interesting. The important thing is to read and stay motivated.
4) My other videos have lots more tips!
Hope this helps! 🙂
