The only thing I'd add is to pay attention to the spelling, especially in part 3. I, personally, am lucky, since learning dead languages can really help you with etymology which kind of explains you how a word came to be written in such a complicated manner. But, for most people, words need to be memorised. "Occurrence", with a double "c" and "r", "embarrassed", with a double "r" and "s", "responsibility", with an "i" and not an "a", and so on and so forth. Great video! I watch them every week to refresh the structure of the exams in my head.
i im bilingual but have specific problem, in my mother language some words (especially of latin origin) are similar to english in spelling but one letter off, for example "definition" and "definice", i know the etymology but it doesnt help much because i still end up misspelling half the time, it just looks right to me hah:(
for the first part i'll suggest looking for prepositions, most of the times you'll be able to eliminate options by realizing that the preposition needed is not there.
I think that it is also something important and it is the strategy. Basically go straight to your strenghts and leave to the end your weaknesses. If you are good in the part 3, so-so in 4 and bad in 2. It is good idea to do 3-4-2. In this way you will build up your trust and avoid waste time in something that it is very likely you will not do well. If you do 2-4-3. You will start unsecure and wasting time
*Note: Part 1 is officially marked as "reading" but, for study purposes, I recommend you treat it as Use of English Here's the link to my online C1 Advanced (CAE) preparation course. ttp-exam-academy-ben.thinkific.com/courses/complete-c1-advanced-cambridge-exam-preparation-course

I took the CPE today and man, thank you so much!! Your videos have been of great help to me, especially this tip to start with the reading part. I'm grateful that you decided to post all of these videos for free, this way anyone can prepare for the exam with you. Thanks again!!!

Excellent video! Your channel has been my main resource for tips and pieces of advice for the exam so far. I am truly thankful for having access to such an enriching material in this platform. If I get a good grade I will let you know!
Hi and thanks for your video! I will be doing my CAE tomorrow and one thing that really makes me nervous is the Key word transformation. Make sure that you follow the word count, f.e. in FCE there are less words you can put in the box than in CAE.
Hi Ben ! Always me ! You may find my consistency in watching your videos odd, but trust me I'am getting a tremendous amount of meaningful information and encouragement from doing so. Not only from the tips and advice you provide in them, which are really important to me, but also simply because I listen to you. I find your English perfect and, therefore, a good way to learn English to become more effective, confident and proactive. Simply put, every time I listen to your videos, I become an absorbent sponge of anything and everything comes out of your mouth. I feel so lucky to have found your channel. Thank you very much !
hello, sir. i just wanted to thank you for your videos. im going to take the CAE exam this weekend and im rather nervous, specially considering i couldn't start studying a few weeks ago because of my middle school's finals. thank you for all the advice!
Thanks for your extremely useful tips, Ben. Your advice has really helped me relax, since as you said, this kind of exams are really intimidating sometimes.
Thank you Ben, this is such a piece of advice! I will share this to the students that are struggling to get a good score on these tests. And please if you happen to get some information about TESOL, that could also be useful.
I taking the CPE exams in about 10 days. I'm pretty anxious because my scores are preety low. I mean, the highest I reach in the Use of English section is 35. I hope I'm lucky. I'm extraordinarily good in the speaking part as well as in the writing...but use of english and sometimes listening get me confused.
Great advice again Ben! Might I add.. students, when Ben says guess the answer, you should do so in the knowledge that there is no negative marking! My students (Spanish) are familiar with the concept of multi-choice exams, but in order to minimise the risk of students simply guessing, marks are deducted for wrong answers! This is NOT the case with the Cambridge exams!...So guess, you could gain, but you cannot lose!
Thank you so much for this Ben! I've been preparing for months now but I still get bad results. I often get 182 or 184 and I rarely get 191-2. This is making me extremely nervous for my exam which is next week. I don't think I'll pass but regardless your videos are incredible!
Thank you a lot! I'm watching your videos and you have really helped me.😊 I want to say about the time someone should spend, I usually spend around 5 seconds to each of the 4 parts so that I can save more time for the 3 parts of the reading which are and the most difficult in my opinion.
Thanks, great stuff. I only hope that we won't have such ambiguous sentences as _______ didn't rain 😃, bc how to get it's not about having a party, but about a drought
It won't be ambiguous in the exam because the context will tell you whether it's negative or positive. That's why it's important to read and understand the whole article, not just the sentence with the gap.
¿ First of all, I am grateful with all the advice that you have shared with us. Secondly, I wonder If I am bein preparing for FCE for several months is better to take FCE o C1 ?
for part 4, do you have to get the sentences correct word for word to get full 2 points? if you have one small mistake, perhaps a wrong article or preposition, does that leave you with only 1 point? I'm taking the CPE in May
