Great video, giving this ago at the weekend. Did you notice if anyone had poles? Reckon they'll be useful for the hills and deep mud if it's allowed, can't see anything on the info pack
Good luck. I didn't see anyone use poles. I wouldn't bother with them tbh, and would just wear a pair of shoes with good lugs and tread. It's your choice though.
I was the road marshall at the second CP in this event and can confirm it never stopped raining! You looked super strong coming through CP2 so it's great to see you went on to get an amazing time in those conditions. We'll done and keep up the great content.
Huge kudos Craig! Great result mate! I have heard great things about the race It sounds like Centurion have got another fantastic race in their roster. 😎🤘
Thanks fella! Happy with the time considering the mental amount of mud haha. It's definitely a top addition to their roster. You should run it next year if you can, would love to see your take on the race!
Cheers Conrad, was pleased with the performance given the mental conditions! Nice nutrition of choice. I'm also a fan of Clif Bloks, the caffeine ones are great
Craig, great effort and video! I've been thinking of running this race next year, probably need shoes with a better grip than Hoka SG (of which I'm a big fun). Re: nutrition, I like Huma gels and Precision Hydration lemon and mint chews.
Thanks Joanna! Yep, I'd highly recommend trying to see the course conditions before hand to make a decision about footwear. The Hoka speed goats are my go to 'all rounder', but really should have worn something with more aggressive lugs and tread. Thanks for sharing your fav nutrition 🙏
ohhh nice work! I know someone who did this and they were saying how brutal the conditions were and so muddy so it's great to see the video evidence too! 😀 My go to quick fix (instead of gels as i'm not a fan) is the raspberry Lucho Dillitos, they are such a lovely sweet hit of sugar and easy to eat and digest, really rate them if you've not tried 👍🏻
Thanks! Yeah, the conditions were pretty brutal but was a fun challenge! I've had those bars before, they're absolutely lovely. Been so long, I forgot they existed. I'll probably get some for my next ultra now! 👍
Great event, I finished in 6hr6. I was also wearing the speedgoat 4s and really struggled for traction on the muddy sections, became very frustrating as it made parts un-runnable, whilst those with better grips could fly passed!
Well done on a great time. Our speed goats definitely weren't up for the job on this occasion, I was slipping all over the place. How I didn't face plant in the mud numerous times is a mystery to me 😂
Thanks! The route marking was solid, I didn't need a GPX. My biggest piece of advice is to wear trail shoes with aggressive lugs if the terrain/weather is bad. I slipped around so much in my hoka speedgoats

Well done great achievement.

Always like your ultra videos mate. Looks like you needed a canoe for this one 😂
Cheers Mark, yeah a canoe or kayak would have come in handy for some sections 😅

Thanks for that! Certainly enjoyed it, despite the crazy weather (the never ending rain) and conditions underfoot. Thanks for marshalling
Great effort!! Good job and thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you!

@@runningcafe1 yeah I would like to give it a whirl if I can fit it in. I really like the 50k distance.
Thanks for sharing, I ran this with my friend - it was her first Ultra experience - and have to say those conditions were brutal 😆
Hope you and your friend enjoyed it. Hopefully the savage conditions didn't scare her off of ultra running!
Well done, and a really fast time, especially in those conditions!! 👏 👏
Cheers for that! Was pleased with the performance given the swamps/mud and constant rain, was crazy
29/312 is brilliant, well done Craig!
My nutrition of choice:
Hi5 gels
Clif bars
Clif bloks
Jam sandwiches
Malt loaf
Crisps
Cheers Conrad, was pleased with the performance given the mental conditions!

@@runningcafe1 not tried the caffeine ones actually!

Great video - I completed the event, and your video shows all my mates how difficult and muddy it was (as they didn't believe me!)
Cheers! The amount of mud on my legs at the end of this video might help 😅
Great effort buddy! I did the race and it was super muddy right?! 😂I slipped over a couple of times, but thats the fun of it all
Cheers! Hope you enjoyed it. Yeah, it was ridiculously muddy. I don't think the video does the insane amount of mud justice haha

Excellent video! How did you find the signage on the course? All pretty clear or did you need GPX at all?

Takeshi castle 😂
Such a quality show 😂
