I really just want them to make a Batman live action show staring Batman, they could adapt Year One for the first season and use the very original batman costume, the one with the purple gloves if there is a budget issue. The show Arrow shows that you can make a Batman like TV show.
"It's an entire city filled with sin."
Then I guess you could call it "Sin City"
I'm not sorry
Baddum-tssss
Who else wants an update video?
Me
His opinions would entirely change. Mostly because he thought Barbara Kean was Barbara Gordon. Also, a lot has changed.
I would love to see an update and maybe if his opinion changed in any way.
It's unnecessary to make an update video because they already introduced joker, freeze, and azrael. And that made me really pissed
God you just saved kwing from a bed video
I found it odd how they portrayed Harvey Bullock, I always thought he was Jim's underling, the stereotypical, fat cynical, cop. In Gotham, they seem to have him as his boss and mentor, his character also seems heavily influenced on Gene Hunt from Life on Mars (specifically the UK one, but all the racism dumbed down)
I know right!
It's called an adaptation, things are gonna be changed.
Rad Grump
Well he was originally hired in the 80s comics to sabotage Gordon's reputation, but changed his mind when he saw the good he was doing. and in the new 52, he was retconned as a good guy from the beginning.
Also hello to you too :D
Robosaurus
I know, but in the comics Gordon already had a boss, the previous commissioner who was also corrupt. They could have used him as his partner.
kNIGHTWING01 Kwing, my friend. Calm down, and enjoy the show for what it is, an interpretation. It's not supposed to be like the comics.
It’s not awful nowadays, nowadays it’s my favourite show of all time
¿Have you ever thought that this could be an alternative reality, as Smallville series was for Superman's leyend?
@kNIGHTWING01 could you make a video about Gotham season 5 once the show has ended?
I've loved your vids for a while now, but recently I've kinda quit watching them. And I know why now. I'm starting to have differing opinions from you. Now I realize that it's your opinion and I respect that, but you are WAY too critical of anything that isn't following comic or BTAS canon. You just seem almost depressing. You troll and complain about everything non canon. Just to point some things out, Montoya is in character in Gotham, because yes, she is gay in the comics. Secondly, you don't know half the stuff you're talking about. In the BTAS episode you were referencing, it was Montoya and a rookie cop, not two, that went in after Harvey jumped the gun, but I can see how you might've messed that up since you can get jumbled up sometimes. You kept complaining how Bruce was constantly on his smartphone and stuff, when he's never on his phone on that show. Secondly, you need to get over your love for BTAS. I liked that show a lot, but it's not the best show ever made. You need to understand that Gotham is its own story, and it's only loosely based on the comics. I think Harvey Bullock is pretty cool on the show BTW. I love Arrow and the Flash shows too, more than Gotham, but I still enjoy it. Like I said, I respect your opinion and hope I don't make you angry or offended.
Montoya has NO role in the show, other then to being the typical "gay character" constantly reminding the viewer about Her brief time with Barbra. Oh and being the pain in the Gordon's relationship. She is poorly done, downgraded to a jealous loser Boyfriend role from a Soap Opera. Also Her Partner on the Force isn't getting a lot of Character development either. When Crispus Allen, is a really cool GCPD Cop. Fact. It's has nothing do with canon, it has to do with poor characterization. Re-imagining stuff is fine. But treading to far from the source material is the issue i'm having. Which based on how Episode 4 went I don't see the show getting much better. I like it as a Cop Drama, but not as a Batman related show. Not to say it can't change. But they have a lot of work a head of them. Also introducing to many future Bad Guys is a very bad thing. Spend several episodes on each Foe's rise to who they become.
I agree that Montoya isn't portrayed as a good character. She's not very important to the plot except to create conflict between Jim and Barb. And I couldn't agree more about Crispus. He hasn't been in the past two episodes, and when he is, he's ganging up on Jim with Montoya.
You buddy, are kind of doing what you're accusing Kwing of doing. You're tearing him down and knit picking his video. So what if there was only one other cop instead of two. You feel just as strongly about your opinion as Kwing does. So, let him have his and you can have yours.
I already said I respected his opinion, I just disagree with some of it.
Rob Forge If you respect his opinion than there is no reason for your original comment.
I wonder how he feels about the newer seasons
Gotham was not what as a batman fan I expected to see I haven't been this disappointed since the dark knight rises when they changed Robins Origin....The part that I really hate about the show is how they are deciding to develop The Rouges origins how they are introducing them before there actual time and Bringing Arkham before Batman is....smh...I would hate to see how they are gonna introduce Bane and Killer Croc
Bane and Batman are class mates together. Taught by Professor Crane jk or am I?
With the way the writing is going, i wouldn't be shocked tbh
Ha! Me either since I see them as you said Gordan single handedly turning Gotham into Metropolis without out the help of Batman. Hopefully they will introduce Killer Croc Correctly sadly I see him being him introduce as a rouge cop and they call him Killer Croc because He wear Alligator! skin shoes and kills for the mob
kNIGHTWING01 "Bane and Batman are classmates together" guess what? The writing isnt as godamn bad as you think it is. The season finale may have had a few flaws, but it a very good show. The problem is is that you people cant tolerate any new batman mediums which are presented in different ways. Nooo, you people are still hoping for season 3 of young justice.
kNIGHTWING01 Killer croc is Professer Crane's Nephew who is a cannibal. Not a guy with lizard scales a cannibalm
Shock 345 Young justice season three is coming...That waiting paid off.
in hindsight i found the full first season of gotham to be an interesting take on established characters but i think this is because i have grown up in an age where super hero's can have multiple origin stories where as things were kind of set in stone before i like seeing what people can come up with personaly
Malcolm Lowey Same, I like the new origins of these characters.
So nobody tried to stop penguin, poison ivy, the riddler, etc... Before batman. I like seeing how the villains evolved before Batman arrived, and how the corrupt department struggled to deal with it.
Attempted Yes. Stopped...no
The show now is amazing, I love it, especially Penguin and Riddler
I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but Gotham is my favorite dc show on right now. Although I hate how fast they run through great characters and just leave them. Bruce has become a more likeable character for me now considering how he was a kid for a couple of episodes. Anyways the show has gotten a lot better, but im kinda mad the joker is in the new episode lets just hope ian from shameless plays a good joker... he has a nice crazy laugh :p
Riley G its a good (ok) show but it needs a lot of work (it could be better)
Honestly I feel like they should’ve just kept maroni and dent around long enough for the incident between the two of them
Thank you. It's nice to know not every nerd youtuber is blindly supporting these DC shows that obviously don't care about being remotely similar to the comics they're supposedly adapting.
I'm all for change. But it has to be a good change. Just because the character has been around for 75 years doesn't mean they should muddy the characters to this extent. It's like watching a Car Accident in slow motion..
i will admit i do like how they show the penguin building up from a bus boy to a major crime boss. i know that's not how they do it in the comics but i enjoy it.
I totally understand not liking a certain plotline or element in a show because it's weak, bad, cliched, etc. That's perfectly fine. However, it seems like most of the complaints regarding Gotham is due to how it deviates from the canon of the comics.
SO. WHAT.
It's not like comics routinely feature alternate timelines or universes, often contradictory with each other, right? Oh wait, they do. And in the eyes of an average comic book fan, that's a perfectly acceptable practice. Yet when a TV show based on Batman comes along and it has the gall to make a few changes here and there, it's bloody murder. You do realise that the general audience (AKA the target demographic) doesn't know every single minute detail of the Batverse, right?
People complain all the time that they want something "new", "fresh", or "original". Okay, fair enough, but you have to break from tradition to make it happen. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
The main problem is that the people who watch this don't know much about batman. So this is the door into that world for them. Once they go through that door they'll be confused as to what Batman's world is really like. I'm fine with them making some changes but do it in a smart and clever way. I think that's the main issue with television. Not enough intelligent clever writers.
If you have a talented writer and treat the Characters with respect. Then yes, you can have your Cake and eat it too =)
But the shape of Gotham at this point in time, nope. Not to say things can't get better. I offered suggestions. Seems people skipped that part haha
Hell yeah man.
Completely agree with you commander 6444 me and you agree on so many levels
Here, Here!
They actually didn't do any Harvey Dent split personality things, So thats good. Harvey eventually after like half of season one does go back to being on the straight n' narrow, along with actually becoming angered and hardened towards vigilantes. Also Bruce does end up going to boarding school. He also has periods of time where he is grieving over his parents. During those periods of time where he seemed to be over it, he was just trying to be strong, which eventually he actually takes a bit and takes time to grieve for the better part of a season. Penguin eventually does become the king-pin of Gotham, eventually gaining the Ice Burg Lounge. He also becomes mayor of Gotham for all of 2 and a half seasons before being shipped off to prison. The "Joker"-ish character Jerome does appear mid season one, only to disappear until the end of season 2 to get killed off. Later on though he comes back in mid-late season 3. His final appearance is late in season 4 where he as a character is killed off once again, never to return...Well except he has a twin brother Jeremiah, who is sprayed with "joker gas" and becomes "Kinda Joker". But in the final season, season 5, (which you predicted the show would end in season 5) It is clear that Jeremiah is the unspoken "Joker" of this universe.
I think you should have waited until the whole first series came out before you gave a review on it
pig _cakes13 yeah
What if??? What if??? This is just an alternate universe, I mean the multiverse has been hinted in Flash soooo yah
I personally really love Gotham so far. It makes so many references to the universe it's based on. Plus I really like what they're doing with Penguin. I do agree that if he was cutting and burning himself he may be a little insane, but I've done it once before, a long time ago, and I was not diagnosed with insanity. I just wasn't thinking straight and felt like I had to solve my own problems. I think that's the point Bruce is at right now. I also do hate the Montoya, And the Gordon's it's awful!!! It's not the acting either, but it's almost as bad as the drama in Smallville. You're awesome Kwing!!! Thanks for sharing your opinion!!! =-)
The main problem I have is that the villains being here are by plot convenience. Catwoman saw the Wayne murders? The framed killer is Ivy's dad? Riddler works for GCDP?! What next? Bane is Bruce's childhood friend?!
No disrespect and I know I'm very late, so you probably won't even see this comment, but even in season 2 they fixed a lot of the issues and it's only got better since. I'm nearly done with season 4 and the 5th season hasn't been shown here in the UK. I love his videos but I sometimes feel you way too critical of stuff that isn't exactly following the comics or BTAS and are unable or unwilling to open yourself up to new ideas. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's bad.
I did have lots of issues in season 1, but by the end of season 2 all of them were fixed. The only thing is they do still make Jim seem to much like a superhero, but that's his character in this and I've got used to it. If there's one problem I have with the show though, it's the introduction of The Joker and although, The Joker character is decent now, I'm still not sure I like it that much, but I'm getting used to it and it will be interesting to see what he's like in season 5. I sound like I hate the show, but I actually quite like it, it just took some getting used to back in season 1.
I don't get why people get mad when stuff on screen isn't the same as what happened in the comics. Idk why you would want the same story over and over again over again. I like it when they mix it up
@kNIGHTWING01 Im sorry if I sound disrespectful, but, you know what I dislike about your general judgment? You never say "I personally dont like" or "I feel this isnt right" you straight up said "This is a bad thing, its terrible and you should dislike it too". Im sorry for being unable to see the complete video, but I just found the reasons as mere pet peeves as opposed to actual judgement. I see the series as a way to show how the bad guys in Gotham will EVENTUALLY become costumed lunatics. Thats why Gordon can deal with them. As far as I know, there will not be a Riddler in the show, only Edward Nigma, no Mr Freeze, only Victor Fries, etc. Also, you complaining about it being diferent from the comics is pretty confusing when you let the original Batman, where he murdered people and The Joker had an alias, slip.
Ah no
I agree.
4 years later and your predictions are off, thankfully
The problem with following the comics is that you create a boring story. You know where things are going and how everyone turns out. Would we actually watch a show if we already know the future of the characters? For how long? How can you create drama when you already know who lives and dies? It would just be a massive series where you already know all the plot spoilers.
Based on what I found from various sources Harvey Bullock was a corrupt cop before Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Before Crisis he wasn't really Corrupt. He walked a thin line, but wasn't on the take. Still a Grade A Donut loving Jerk =)
Uhh this tired old argument. The arkam games follow the comics really well are they boring? If so why did you even watch this video? Did respecting the source materiel make the Bruce Timm shows fail? The Marvel movies have made Billions upon billions accurately portraying their franchises. Even word for word recreations make money. People willingly paid for Bruce Timms word for word recreation of The Dark Knight rises. They constantly release animated version of Comic story arcs, many of them quite recent. This argument holds no water.
FinnyIicious "The Shinning of the Batman Universe" You realize the Shinning is considered a really good movie right? You're assertions about this being a stand alone thing make no sense. It makes absolutely no sense to acquire or use a big ticket license to create something that stands alone. Typically a TV show only has a few million viewers. Alienating the 100,000 or so Batman comic readers is bad for a TV show. Even in the movies The super heroes adoptions that are making boatloads of moody do so by staying true to the comics. Internet groundswell is what created the hype to get the ball rolling on the MCU. Accuracy does matter even from a business perspective. We live in a world where bad press for any Hollywood project can be spread world wide and even intensified in mere seconds. Every live action adoption DC has done in the past decade has turned to shit. Meanwhile Experts were so sure Guardians of the Galaxy would fail simply because it had a talking raccoon and it went on to shatter more records because Marvel earned the trust of fans and general audiences alike by continuously putting a good product rather than resting on the laurels of "Pre existing brand awareness"
Jim Dot Beep A movie is one story and done. A game is one story and done. Both example only need you to pay once, they don't need to keep you going for a whole season. The Dark Knight trilogy doesn't follow the comics either.
Batman The animated series didn't follow the comics exactly. I seem to remember him taking the Batmobile to a friend to get it repaired and Harley was a completely new character that didn't exist in the comics. They took chance and we got a brand new villain out of it.
The main audience that they need to get to are not going to stay if they can just read the comics and know everything. We anime watchers see the same thing when manga are translated into anime. Those who read the manga find it hard to watch the anime since we already know the story ahead of time.
FinnyIicious You're not understanding what I'm saying. The Shinning could have gotten EVERYONE on board by not bying a license they didn't need. If the film was called something else and wasn't trying to ride Stephen Kings coattails it could have made even more money.
All the poeple that are jumping on the Superhero bandwagon do so out of the success of previous entries in the cinematic Superhero craze. The new cinematic superhero craze was started by the hype originally created by actual comic book fans after the by these movies started being made people actually started to take the source material seriously. The internet hype machine is the life blood of this pheonemon. When you go to a video about one of the marvel movies the comment section is pure hype and excitement. When you go to a video about Dawn of Justice it's all vitrial between Batman fans and hollywood apologist. That is BAD for marketing. Dawn of Justice will make money but it won't be anywhere close to the amount a movie on par with the MCU would make.
I love the show, honestly, and, despite what you say, Kwing, I can see how everything works can be put together.
I watched the 2 episodes, thought it was okay. Then I started watching the third episode, right after watching The Flash and Arrow (all were recorded) and I almost fell asleep halfway through. I think I'm done with this show.
Better off
The episode you're speaking of is, "P.O.V" from the animated series.
You make it sound like you can't have different interpretations of characters like Penguin or Bullock and that they HAVE to be the same as their animated series versions else they're ruined forever. The batman from the 60s show isn't the same as the batman in the Nolan Films. The Joker from the 89 film isn't the same as the joker from The Brave and the Bold. Bullock in the animated series isn't the same Bullock as in Gotham.
I'm not saying the show is perfect (far from it) but I did have a problem with one of your criticisms being the characters are too different. Batman's been around for 75 years and in that time characters change a lot.
Ah but this is where your WRONG. All those series you brought up with the different interpretations of the character. Were true to the Characters. Yes the 60's series was campy. But Batman was then. The Burton stuff was Dark, to reflect the 1980's and Frank Miller stint. Nolan, captured the post 911 Emotion of the World and Comics. So Batman was even Darker. Brave and the Bold was Inspired by the Directors Childhood on what Batman was like in the Silver Age. HOWEVER; all those versions of Batman DID NOT change the core of the character or his World's elements. Tweeked Yes, but not an entire fresh approach. If you still think different, you're as BLIND as a Bat haha.
kNIGHTWING01 Ha I see what you did there. But yeah I see what you're saying maybe it's because I haven't seen or read as much Batman as you (I mean just one of your arkham videos shows more information about one villain than I know about an entire rouges gallery) but this show didn't feel that different to me from what I was used to from Batman. But to each their own.
DrMaddWorld
Indeed, if everyone thought and acted the same, the world would be a really boring place. Thanks for the comment and fun discussion.
kNIGHTWING01 Oh my god...do you think you're fucking jesus Kwing? Boy do I want to punch your crooked teeth out right now.
Dylan Murphy No he is not jesus he's batman. Punch his crooked teeth? Woah now no need to virtually hit someone...
I personally liked the show beginning to end (except for season three). But I understand entirely why you didn’t and I respect your opinion
I've had a big problem with them using the big villains in ridiculous ways. Riddler working for the GCPD? Catwoman watching the Waynes get killed? That's just stupid. If they were to focus more on the organized crime part of the Batverse, which I think is the little known part of it, and use the big wigs there like Falcone, Marone, and even Black Mask, it could be a much better show. I still love the Bullock character, even if they take creative license with him simply because Donal Louge is a great actor and I try to watch everything he does. I'm still going to watch it; I enjoy some of the things in it.
If they just focused more on the organized Crime thing it could be a really good show. But bringing in all these pre Batman foes...like every other week. NO. That's a bad idea. Unless they are going to do a time skip. Tbh they are rushing stuff
I think I remember them saying there would be absolutely no Batman until maybe the last episode or maybe the final season. Now, I like Jim Gordon, and think that Ben McKenzie is doing a good job as him, but I don't think it's enough to lead a show like this unless they are going to do a full Batman TV show after it's done.
What wrong with Riddler working for GCPD he used to be a good guy and he's smart.
I love Gotham, but i do agree with some of your ideas on how to make it better, thanks for being my favourite youtuber and keep up the good work Kwing :D
It's what I'm here for. Thanks for the comment
1st season was meh but 2nd season is fucking awesome
I agree, watch my review
Yeh, the second season is way better. I liked the first season anyway, but with Azrael and Hugo Strange and a proper Gotham interpretation of the joker, it is amazing (is not was because I've recorded them and still have three episodes to go)
I dont get all the hate for this show
everything youre complaining about is speculation so far- you dont know if Gordon will stop the rogues, if anything it looks like he might have created penguin.
As for the Continuity errors and non comic canon, I think this is loosely based on the Nolan verse. You know the batman universe were bruce was only batman for (MAX) a year and then disappeared for 8 years before magically teleporting from india to gotham, and then again from a nuke filled bat wing to a cafe in italy.
Also i really like bullock, I think he starts corrupt but Jim is slowly a going to change him
I totally agree with everything you are saying and I am just as upset and angry about how they are interpreting the origins of Gotham! I am a huge Batman fan and whenever I watch this show I am always disappointed and keep second guessing myself on whether I should continue watching the show at all. I mean it's a good crime show, but it is totally inaccurate and extremely gruesome.
At least Gotham's more accurate to the comics than the Dark Knight Trilogy... Yes, I'm serious.
So what do you think about the Flash Tv show? Because that is amazing
Blast to Watch, Fun time for everyone!
kNIGHTWING01 I agree flash is just alot of fun its like a cartoon in real life. I hate gotham though :/.
charles scab it's so cliched, but in an amazing way
humanpride123ko nope its just bad and doesnt know what it wants to be(talking about gotham right? ) flash was alot of fun
charles scab I'm talking about flash
i think Gotham is a nightmare by batman when batman was stuck in the court of owls maze
It's just a different take on the Gotham not everything has to be like the animated series
Its not that it's a different take, it's that its so bad a take. The writing just gets worse and worse. They keep introducing all this crazy crap thrown in to the point it gets jumbled and convoluted. It doesn't take itself slowly. It just rushes out and tries to cram in as many of Batman's enemies as they can.
In the show, Bruce Wayne finds his parents murderer, he doesn’t kill him, the murderer kills himself because of guilt
So it's a crappy prequel series that destroys the good parts of the characters yet the audience is eating it up like it's the best thing to happen to the franchise? Oh great it's Smallville all over again.-_-
While I had my issues with Smallville..they did a better characterization job then Gotham. Shocking..i know
kNIGHTWING01 not that hard to believe, Man of Steel did a worse job than Smallville....and Gotham's problems seem to be more akin to Man Of Steel's problems...*sigh* why do people think darker=better? I thought the 90s were over
But Man of Steel is good movie...
C. Pasta well it does seem that opinions are split on that one, and I happen to be of the opposing view. Man of Steel sucks
***** Man of steel was of a darker tone because it worked for Batman and so WB seemed to think it would work the same form Superman.
I don't really understand how Gordon promising Bruce that he'll catch the Wayne killer means he'll be successful at it and then have to deal with villains in their modern incarnations. However, I do agree that having Gordon be the only non-corrupt cop in the entire city is ridiculous.
Go over the new flash review! PLEASE
I'm very tempted. Or at least an Easter Egg video =)
In Len Wein's Untold Legends of the Batman (and I think in all Pre-Zero Hour versions), Batman does eventually find his parents killer and yet continues to be Batman. I think there's a value in that, because otherwise Batman's quest seems purely personal and one almost wonders if when he does find the killer he'll just stop. Batman does work to avenge his parents' death, but not specifically against the man who killed them but against all criminals, all those who prey on the weak, on all the darkness of Gotham and the world. (Also it's important because it shows that Batman would not kill even his parent's murderer, because Batman doesn't kill people, and any Batman that does is really Jean Paul Valley in disguise.)
Ah but in that Zero Hour Comic. Did Bruce find closure when He was a little Kid? NO! IF He had, no reason to dedicate his Life to fighting Injustice. However; I personally loved the Bronze stories about Joe Chill being the Killer of the Wayne's. Then by the Post Crisis it changed. Then changed back. Forget what NU52 is doing w/ Bat's Families Killer tbh
Agreed; if the killer had been found when he was still a child, things would have been different.
Man. People in the comments can be really butthurt. Did you ever read the title? It should have hinted he wouldn't be feeling the same way about the show as you. You enter at your own risk.
I really like the Flash. I'm glad you like it! :)
Great to see a new video. This show is still intriguing.
Thanks =)
So you really hate this series dude?
TheEnchantedPotato™
Does Hate mean I want 4 hrs of my Life back?
kNIGHTWING01 another great video but i have an idea about how the show can get better maybe in trying to make gotham a better place he accidentally makes it worse allowing and then the rest of the series is gordon fighting a war that he can't win, allowing batman to step in 12 years later and fix it.
jack thompson
Maybe... time skip fixes everything. Though the shows director loves having little Bruce Wayne in the show...ugh
watch gotham tommorrow because its the premier of s4 "fear" where Bruce FINALLY becomes batman
There is only 1 episode out so far in England
lucky
How??? Or was that sarcasm.
Ps . BIG FAN
Tyrone Hill Ah sarcasm is my gift to the world haha. Thanks for Watching Tyrone =)
:-) :-) :-)
kNIGHTWING01 Keep your gift it's NOT wanted!
Episode is called POV cause Bullock, Montonya, and the Rookie all had a different story of the event in warehouse. I liked that one too alot
Gotham is a great show like if you agree!😀
No
T-R _ not everything has to be comic accurate
Kwing, I hope you haven't watched the most recent episode, because it's atrocious. Mr. Freeze should not be in the show yet, and SHOULD NOT BE FREEZING PEOPLE YET!!!!!! Hugo Strange is fine, Penguin is ok, the actor is doing the best he can, but he doesn't act like Penguin should. Little Emo Bruce wasn't even in the episode(& he's supposed to be Batman?!), Gordon has been killing people & teaming with Penguin? I'm so confused on why they didn't just do a Gotham Central type show, where Gordon and the rest of the G.C.P.D. would be the main characters(Bullock, Renee Montoya, Crispus Allen, etc.), with Batman as a side character, occasionally helping Gordon & the cops with villains, and having the G.C.P.D. facing minor villains & the mob as the main storyline.
But he wouldn't work with Penguin, or kill someone unlawfully that didn't do something to his family or friends.
The creators are too cheap to make a Batman costume :)
+Austin Powers what do you expect it's Fox
Also many shows don't get to a great staus within the first four episodes case in point Arrow so give it time.
You've failed this city
kNIGHTWING01 Speaking of which I really enjoyed second episode of season 3 of Arrow.
Dylan Murphy You are extremely annoying. Everywhere I go I see you annoying Kwing just because his opinion is different from yours. Typical when you have an opinion people hate you for it. Grow up and leave.
Sophisticated Horse I truly not mad because I disagree it's because of how he explained his opinion and that he as well disregard s other peoples opinions as well. I am deleting coments like that one but the ones where I think I got my point across I will leave.
I AM truly not mad because I disagree.
They really fixed things up later in the show
This is there interpretation, it would be boring if we got the same stories over and over again.
Interpretation is one thing, but you need to stick with the source material, source material is more important imo.
animeguy10000000 yea I suppose, but we knew what we were getting from the beginning, this show would have nothing to do with Batman, and who knows, the show is still in its early stages we won't know how this will play out in the end just yet.
animeguy10000000 I wish Batman Returns did that.
Joshua Hernandez Some dc comics fanboys like me love seeing the same comic or plotpoint over and over again
I think if they would've done the same story again someone would complaint that it is the same
Ok, it doesn't take out all corrupt in Arkham Origins, in Arkham Knight there is a corrupt cop.
i imagine knightwing yelling at his tv and telling amber what’s wrong with the show
What? lol how do you know me so well haha
Maybe Gotham ends with Gordon seemingly ending the corruption but then everything goes wrong, the city goes to war and everything spirals down and down, during this Bruce left to become the man to save Gotham.
the whole boarding school thing is coming in the next episode
Some problems I have with the Gotham is that they don't show young Bruce Wayne training to become Batman. There also seems to be this idea that anyone could become an arch villain just because they feel like it. Becoming either a super villain or hero(even a non powered one) should take a lot of work, talent, and dedication.
The creators said Batman will never appear in the series, and I thought I heard there was only gonna be 22 episodes.
I love bullock, Gordon Alfred and penguin. The problem is Fish mooney and the lack of focus. It tries to establish too much in the mythos.
I really don't want Joker in Gotham at all... I really don't even want Joker to have an Origin, I think it's scarier and more mysterious for him not to have one. But I agree, if they bring in Joker or Two Face in this series... then I'm done with Gotham.
Well he is coming. RUMOR has it, the guy in the comedy club. Will be the Joker.
kNIGHTWING01 I hope it's just a rumor. I heard the other rumor that they're going to have multiple guys and each one with have a certain Joker origin to them, but none of them will be the Joker... I do like that idea, but Joker should never show up before Batman.
Saberoph.
What do you think of the show 4 years later?
He knew it was going to be 5 seasons
I just don't understand why we can't just enjoy this show, sure it doesn't work with the comics, but its a amazing portrayal of Gotham City before Batman
Your point about, "If Batman found the murderer there would be no point," Not exactly, batman has found the murderer in many adaptations, also the show isn't saying that these people will become villians yet, all it's doing is introducing them. As for Penguin, I think once he makes the Cobblepot name known, he'll start saying things like, "I'm a civilized Business man now."
I don't see Jim taking on the villains without getting hurt or killed. Which ever happens first.
"It's like, an entire city filled with sin."
So I guess you could say it's a....
Sin City. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
lol i was about to comment that
The main thing I don't like about the show is that you like some characters beacause they are Batman characters not beacause they are interesting at all in the show..
i don't hate the show that much but i agree that the bruce wayne being emo part is REALLY stupid...he should be lost, aimless for a long time before finding his bearing instead of burning himself and tell others that he's TRAINING HIMSELF..whoever write stuff like that didn't even try to figure out the character
I'll be honest I actually enjoy watching Gotham, it gives a whole new feel on the batman franchise. I'll be honest the perception given to Jim Gordon is really cheesy and overall unbelievable but the focus on many other characters has been quite amazing to see. There a lot of faults in the show but I think it opens a big opportunity to the batman franchise and a alternate reality.
So wait. You don't like the way Penguin was portrayed in Batman Returns?
Wait......Spirit of Vengence?! Apparently,Ghost Rider AND Batman are the spirits of Vengence. Oh,boy
Great video, but I would like an update as they have fixed most of these issues in the later seasons.
The Creators of Gotham Are The Kings of Reaching. "Reach Gods"
The B-Man TAS internal affairs episode is called P.O.V.
I hoped the first season would be year one then have batman arrive at the end of the season but just be in the shadows. Get the best of both worlds, you get all the villains, you get batman in the background, and you can still focus on Gordon working through everything.
Should of showed it what Gotham was like having the Wayne family's presence in gotham. Not so much to focus on them, but to get the feeling of 'Whoa so this is what Gotham feels before it's all bad.'. Didn't have to focus much on them or Bruce at the moment like side characters. Maybe Gordon or some other character would be like 'Look its the Waynes!'.
Then Gordon gets a tip that something is going to happen to the Wayne family. Maybe they'll get a scare or a prank.
Then Gordon has to deal with the corruptness of uncovering the puppet strings of the police force while trying to solve the Wayne's threat before they get killed. Then it could be Season 1 Finale with the Waynes dying. Bruce gets all emotional and it ends on that note.
Then Season 2 Picks up on a more serious note after maybe a couple months skip with a more angry or stoic Bruce Wayne being shipped off, then you can be like 'So that's when the path officially starts' Maybe some monologue or he had a nightmare of some bat shaped creature eating away at him so Alfred sent him off.
Then Gordon could be like, 'I'll find your parents murderer Bruce'. Establishing some sort of pre-Batman bond between the two and then the series current set up could work. Since I think seeing the younger characters and all before they go crazy interacting with Bruce, besides Hush who's suppose to be his friend would be too much. He should have really no interaction to them (Execept the only part where Bruce and Selina got lost after an assasin attack, kind of mixed on that, but allowing Bruce to 'see' the underworld in such a naive mindstate could give him a truer since of 'why' he needs to stop it) yet they still can exist as trouble makers for Gordon, that way Batman's not like, 'That girl that jumped buildings when I was a kid...Was that Catwoman?' (Which he already knows the name of her so there goes that mystery and it's not like Batman has a habit of forgetting.)
In the end I think this would show the transition of Gotham's state from the Wayne's to becoming a decaying rotten wounded city we know. It could even explore more of the Wayne's personalities more, more of 'why does Bruce love his parents so much?' Sure most of us love our parents, but to take a deep lifelong commitment to dress up in a costume and be come 'all you can be' to avenge them would need some deep sustenance that you can sympathise more of Batman's early life.
The story is not about Jim saving Gotham. Its about the crime always being two-steps ahead of him as he persists until he eventually breaks down and stops trying. This gives way for The Batman to renew Jim's confidence and hope when he's born.
I think you nailed the biggest problem with the show and the reason I have difficulty enjoying parts of it; the supervillains.
The focus should be on the numerous crime bosses controlling the city as that is Gordon's field of expertise rather than the menagerie of strange villains Batman is supposed to deal with later.
I actually find it quite entertaining to see Gordon's perspective on things, and the plot has its share of interesting subject matter. It just seems like the writers have no sense of how to analyze what drove each of the key characters (Ivy, Two-Face, Penguin, Riddler) to be in the state Batman encounters them in.
What few people recognize is that Batman as a whole is a psychological research project which asks how an otherwise normal person can develop into a themed costumed villain (or hero), and as long as writers just assume that [the villains] were twisted from the start as I'm seeing in Gotham, (and some new 52 stuff) then they are removing a key component to Batman's mythos.
Adding the "gritty edginess" we've come to expect from a Batman story is only ignoring the key problem, and instead of asking why these specific characters became so bizarre, we end up just seeing bad people doing bad things.
So I think the writers should just write the exaggerated crime drama they are trying to make, and the supervillains including Bruce should just go somewhere else for a while and let Gordon work.
What I see happen is as the series progresses, we'll start to see Gotham becoming a hell hole as crime rates will raise, some of the cops start to become more corrupted, Gordon Will probably start to become kind of a broken man and slowly facing the fact that he can't save this city but he still tries, and we'll maybe see Bruce starting to see what is happening in the city to the point where he starts learning how to be a detective and start training himself year by year to one point where he'll be gone for a couple years. We'll might even see him return to Gotham from his training and the series might end with Bruce putting on the cape and cowl and maybe see an older Jim,Harvey,Selina,Edward,Oswald, and Alfred (heck, maybe even Barbara when she's just a child)
(Spoilers)The show also gets rid of villains before Batman exists yet, I mean Grundy- I actually like him as a character but no! You had to change him back!
The show is BASED on comics. This means that they don't need to completely use the personality of a character in the comics on the show.
I think they should make each season have 2-3 years apart. Season 1 finale happens and its crazy then season 2 starts and a number of years have passed, Gordon is a lieutenant and Bullock is a better cop. By Season 4 we have Batman but he isnt shown, only stories and glimpses.
You do realize that wither or not the waynes murder was solved depends on what continuity your following, Post crisis it was said that it wasn't solved, After final crisis it was said that the waynes murderer was caught rhe same night they were killed.
Season 1 was bad but season 2 made it better
I like it, it's something diffrent, it's not following comics like every other batman thing, they did their own thing and i like that
My grandpa used to work at the place were Arkham is shot
Jokers origin+without batman= I'm not watching Gotham.
2:12 wow that’s impressive
For those who don’t know Gotham has 5 seasons
I know that Kwing knows WAAAY more about the DC Universe than me but there are hundreds of different variations of the Batman storyline. Why is this any different from any other variation. Kwing is just mad that they're straying away from the most popular variation's. I can relate to everything Kwing says but things can change a bit. I realize that Jim Gordon is the Batman of the series but what would the show do without a resident badass, people would get bored of the show. I'm not being a fanboy but the timeline can change sometimes. Just plz think about this Kwing. Good review though
Thanks Nate
Even so.... No matter what incarnation it is, they always stay true to the characters.... Not their physical appearances, because that doesn't make up the character.... But their character within...
at least we know it's not connected to mainstream movies/shows. That is revealed when Zsasz is played by the same guy who does the mist in The Flash
DC.. Please Hire Kwing! He knows what's up
Instead of Hugo I'd think it'd be Dr. Thompson
The Joker is in the pilot performing to Fishmooney
This reminds me of smallville where they kill off lex luthor before clark is even superman
I can't imagine how much impact Jim Gordon will have when it will conflict with Batmans justice quest
I think they're going to make it seem like Gordon will fix Gotham up himself, but the season isn't nearly half done. I'm sure there will be a twist that sends Gotham back into a deeper spiral.
Gordon to down the mob
