I completely missed this train on 17th Oct while shooting Bandra Jaipur SF (running 10 minutes late) at Goregaon thought this beast will come after this on same track but when i took off my eyes from camera I saw Rajdhani passing on other track like rocket and disappeared brilliantly giving me no time to capture that.
I just the url given by you on the rajdhani inaugural. As you have rightly observed a 25 kv power cable has been tapped from Master loco and fed to the Slave loco. This is total new innovation. The 25 kv voltage goes directly to main transformer under the loco between the 2 bogies. Thank you for sharing this info which I was not aware.!!
Thanks brother for the acknowledgement. But its a really new type of arrangement, which I had never seen before in the history of IR (Electric loco couplings + MU-ing).
All excellent, including discussion below concerning 'MU'-ing. Only one incongruity. This is not the second fastest train. Please correct yourself Arzan. That title still belongs to Habibganj Shatabdi and by a long way. Regardless of technicalities, this Rajdhani is still locked at 130 (consistent) with a top speed, in certain sections, of 140. Technically, with 12000 HP, it can easily touch 180 but the tracks do not support this speed at most sections on this route (one of the issues during Talgo trials) plus Railway board has not sanctioned Rajdhanis to go above 130-140. Even if the track does support, Rajdhanis cannot go above 130 unannounced. The reason this train is quicker by 2 hours is extremely quick acceleration and deceleration and lesser stoppage times. It is a unique experiment by Railways to eventually test and make most of these A+ category trains into semi-high speed trains on par with or above Gatimaan (speed+ load). Gatimaan runs on India's fastest rail route. Period. It is still at 160 only whereas Talgo trials on the same route touched 180 consistently. So there is scope for further speeds but Railways is very wary of its safety record and it will not happen overnight. But this is a step in the right direction. Can't wait for Alstom 12000 HP locos to hit the tracks next year. One engine, 160+ speeds and twice the fun!
alstom 12000hp loco had a max speed of 120 km . only hope for u and india is train 18 with best acceleration and deceleration it will do mumbai-delhi in 11-12 hrs with present speed restrictions , if speed restrictions at many places are improved then it will do it in 10 hrs .
Nice Capture. Nice Acceleration By Twin P-5. Is The Train Belonging To WR Or NR Zone Because Too Many Different Zones Coaches Added Together Difficult To Identify Which Zone The Train Belongs.
Arvind Rajbhar I don't think it's the new rajdhani, bcos newly inaugurated rajdhani has all brand new coaches, no duronto livery coach. This might be duronto express or ac express.
Rupam Ghosh actually these are dual wap5 locos which work together only. As u can see each loco has only one pantograph . So the first loco provides power to the second loco.
I think the 2nd locomotive was not working. It was attached with the train to deliver somewhere. Because just look at the pantographs, only the front locomotive's panto was touched with the wire. So basically it was not 12000 ( 10800 ) , it was onlythe half
sahi bola pipe se transfer nahi hota current dono pantograph ko upar karna padta hai rahi baat pipe ki to pipe kahli loco ki jankari share karne ke liye hota hai
Pappu Yadav, aap sahi bole par yeh dono locos thode alag hai, inka power connection ke liye ek alag connection bhi diya gaya hai. Taki pehle loco se pantograph se dono loco ko ek saath power jaye. Do pantograph se overhead cable par drag (friction) effect kam karne ka prayas mein aissa kiya gaya hai.
Intense R&D needed for manufacturer of high efficient, light weight and running at 200km per hours. All our experts jump for this project. Reducing wt. is prority. Jay Hind
Day two of operation and the second set of coupled WAP5s is on duty. I guess with this pair using the term MUed would be a little inaccurate since the front loco also provides power to the rear loco. It's sort of a coupled/twin unit locomotive.
I know its a bit odd type of muing compared to WAG/WAM/WCAM series of locomotives. Trials had failed and now in just 1 trial they have even certified them for 130kph just to start 3rd rajdhani in a haste. Atleast 3 pairs of mued WAP5's are needed in case 1 of them fails.
They were trying out to reach new delhi faster. First run it did end to end 130kph and after a week 150kph was done from mathura to palwal. But all these trials were not possible to achieve end to end 95kph average speed
It is not 12000 hp. Though there are 2 locos the rear loco panto is down....it is cold and dead loco being ferried somewhere...so it is only leading loco that is pulling
There are connected with compressor pipes. No need to connect panto of second engine. They both will work perfectly. And its third Rajdhani from Mumbai to Delhi so-called special Rajdhani Haule by twin wap 5.
Second WAP-5 is fully functional. It is connected to the first one through a thick connector and a pair of thin connectors (obviously containing electric conducting wires) at two positions. One is between the roof top connector apparatus of both loco 1 and loco 2, which is a very thick one. Another pair of connectors fairly thinner are connected between the WAP-5's at their mid level, below the windscreen. This principle is known as "MU-ing" which is usually seen on WAG type of freight electric locos. The coupling and air pipe braking system are connected between both the locos as usually and conventionally.
In view of some replies I wish to clarify as under. In multiple unit coupled locos the leading loco is called as MASTER loco and the trailing second loco is called SLAVE loco. The most distant pantograph of BOTH locos are raised. What one reply says " thick cable connection" is actually a UIC cable which transmits all commands from Master loco to SLAVE loco. The operation of ZPT switch in MASTER loco will raise Panto in BOTH locos. All commands are communicated to SLAVE loco by this UIC cables. All throttle/ brake , opening of VCB in both locos is initiated in Master loco and communicated to slave loco. This is as per WAP 7 operating rules. Maybe there is change in operation ...please clarify. But BOTH pantos are to be raised as per rules.
kunalmadhav09 the second wap-5 with its pantograph down is still live and active, through a connector cable from the first head-on WAP-5. This arrangement of connectivity is known as MUING. But in this case A NEW TECHNOLOGY and orientation/arrangement between the WAP-5's are being applied. Once again the second WAP-5 is fully functional with electrical energy + power circulating within its network of wires and circuit.

Thanks a lot. Wish you the same. Sad to know about it.
Nice coverage ! Happy Diwali.
Good catch
Thanks a lot
Lovely shot
Happy new year
Very happy diwali... nice capture
Superb capture & a Happy Diwali!
P.S:Bhopal Shatabdi still remains the second fastest train since it has an MPS of 150 kmph.
Thanks a lot. Wish you same. Mps is not important. Average speed matters. Bhopal shatabdi averages end to end with 83kph whereas this one is 98kph.

Great Catch :)
Lovely capture!
Nice video arzan bhai
NICE CAPTURE!!! :-)
Thanks a lot
+1 Another correction: Total HP is 5400*2 = 10800 HP (# 12000 HP)
Tremendous ! Superb captures !!
Awesome Video...!!! Love the acceleration and track sound.
A very HapPy Diwali to you and your family :)
Same to you also. Happy diwali
Thanks a lot
arzan1980 you are welcome
Nice shot
Thanks a lot
Happy Diwali to you and family Arzan....Lovely video as always.
Ultimate..!!!

Any train that has higher end to end average speed is definitely faster. So this special was faster than bhopal shatabdi express.
THE acceleration of WAP5 is best
Hitesh Bhutani acceleration of WAP7 is the best...
lovely video.
Thanks a lot

Nicely captured
Thanks a lot
Lovely
Good Job Arzan keep it up
Nice yesterday rajdhani was hauled by BRC wap7
Its daily link is BRC WAP7
Amazing
Awesome Coverage
arzan bhai 1 number hai
Thanks a lot
awesome
Thanks a lot
One wap 5 doing work
Happy Diwali Sir
NICE CAPTURE sir
Thanks a lot
Awesome
Dude awesome coverage
Thanks a lot
Awesome!
Nice
Nice coverage..... But only 1 locomotive is working.... Another is towed...
Aweaome
Thanks a lot
Why the front pantograph is up ??? Is thre only one pantograph in both engines???
Rupam Ghosh actually these are dual wap5 locos which work together only. As u can see each loco has only one pantograph . So the first loco provides power to the second loco.

good
How does the second locomotive work even if the pantograph is not in the contact with the overhead electric line?
Aditya Adhvaryu they sync other loco's control with the leading loco through those compressor pipes
Thanks for the detailed explanation
Aditya Adhvaryu They also have SP power supply for the Second Loco.
sahi bola pipe se transfer nahi hota current dono pantograph ko upar karna padta hai rahi baat pipe ki to pipe kahli loco ki jankari share karne ke liye hota hai

Nice !!
What is the train number for up and down route?
09003/09004
Nice but do they still have wap 7i hope they do
second engine with no pento onn... it is not for power... they may be shifting the engine...
Pls make full journey video from starting to end asap
what was the LP doing at 0:57 ?????
nice
Thanks a lot
arzan1980
this new rajdhani takes 13.5 hr to complete journey
Intense R&D needed for manufacturer of high efficient, light weight and running at 200km per hours.
All our experts jump for this project. Reducing wt. is prority. Jay Hind
Bhai isi train se jaa raha hu me delhi 😆😆 vadodra aane wala hai😆
Happy journey
Make Full journey video of this train
At 0:54, what did that guy handed over to the loco pilot? Food or something else?
Mainak Roy Chowdhury hi
Day two of operation and the second set of coupled WAP5s is on duty.

Why 2 wap5 locos instead of 1 wap7??
They were trying out to reach new delhi faster. First run it did end to end 130kph and after a week 150kph was done from mathura to palwal. But all these trials were not possible to achieve end to end 95kph average speed
Arzan bro it's 10800 hp✌😅
Just a single engine is enough for such a short train, waste of resources
Since it had a time table of impossible average speed of 117kph, thats why twin power was alloted.
What's the meaning of 'Mued' 😐
Coupled.
Is it gonna be hauled by twin WAP5s regularly? Or will it get changed to a WAP7??
Its regular link. Its given twin WAP5 since its faster than Mumbai Rajdhani by nearly 2hrs and single WAP7 will never get it on time
It is not 12000 hp.
Though there are 2 locos the rear loco panto is down....it is cold and dead loco being ferried somewhere...so it is only leading loco that is pulling
Ha ha. Even I thought its less than 12000hp. After seeing few videos put by railfans as 12000hp I put in title
There are connected with compressor pipes. No need to connect panto of second engine. They both will work perfectly. And its third Rajdhani from Mumbai to Delhi so-called special Rajdhani
Haule by twin wap 5.
they have SP Power Supply so no Need for Second Loco to use the Pantograph.

This is as per WAP 7 operating rules.
Maybe there is change in operation ...please clarify.
But BOTH pantos are to be raised as per rules.
But why have they addex twin WAP-5’s??
Kunal Madhav Twin WAP-5's increases the effective power to nearly 12000Hp,and that gets distributed between the 2 locos.
Ok got your point, but the other WAP is not active, that's why I was surprised.
kunalmadhav09 the second wap-5 with its pantograph down is still live and active, through a connector cable from the first head-on WAP-5. This arrangement of connectivity is known as MUING. vikaas
Its 10500 hp
Thanks
Nice
