So nice to see an old American house which is treasured by its owner. This house cries out to be preserved, loved and kept as it is, and what a glorious job he has done.
Thank you... Very interesting and informative and the son's segment especially so, reflecting yet another generation of enthusiasm to carry on the historical significance of this grand style of early American splendor...
Sublime, happy & brave. Love the scholarly & technicolor-y aesthetic. Really love the courage to champion American Colonial Revival at a time when that's not cool. Pretty brave and also--pretty. As in Mario Buatta's 'chic lime" ! Too funny. (Sorry, Jeffrey, if the shoe fits... ) Team Lime all the way! I agree w/those who say 4 min is too short to do justice to the subject. We didn't even see that wonderful bedroom with the white cabinet bed a la Monticello that opens on both sides and has furled red & white striped curtains and an amazing pink/orange/white & black quilt. Wasn't it his son's bed when he was small? It must have felt like his own personal sleep fort. Those bed curtains inspired some beautiful, extravagantly striped & furled drapes for our house--thank you, Jeffrey!
1:14 I was awed by the perfection until I saw the 80 pillows on the canopy bed. What's with the designer obsession with towers 'o pillows??? But the man is really a genius! You just don't see this caliber anymore....gray, white, black, yawn. Does my heart proud.
Loving all the COLOURS in this warm & very inviting artistic beautiful house!! I will never be able to get my head round the greys white & blacks...& why are people so frightened of RED??! (Love u'r bedroom!!) Love from Malta😎
I thought I was the only one that thinks everything doesn't have to be grey, white or black. It's pretty but I certainly think the whole house shouldn't be only those colors.
I think this is stunning. The colors are vibrant and gorgeous, and how everything comes together is amazing. I absolutely love this and appreciate the care and preservation going into historic homes. And wouldn’t Wes Anderson be influenced by the established designers like Mario Buatta (the one who recommended the chartreuse), Dorothy Draper, and more?
Better have a fainting couch in that living room from the Apoplexy inducing green. Drama drama drama. Looks like a great house for fun living, and with all that history Ur bound to be on the Registry.
Agreed. Chartreuse yellow is the first I’m seeing it in the flesh and it’s def worth going on about. I too never met a canopy bed I didn’t like. This house is fab
Some of them.. sometimes they also go sailing or skiing... fund a museum... endow a research chair at a university... but most keep going to work because that's how they got rich...
What's wrong with Chic Lime?? Anyhow, love the colour. I once worked in a hair salon this colour and people wanted it changed so badly...I was sad when they rid of it...it's was so fresh and uplifting!
they themselves do not see the caricature, only we on the outside can see the hyperbole and pretense artifice projected for the camera more wooden than the paneling in the dining room
You know a house successfully reflects the viewpoint of it’s owner when there are verbose yeahs and vehement neighs following the viewing! I love it’s wild individuality but can well belief it’s not everybody’s cup of tea. Please oh please may I have a better edited and longer look at these interiors.
“I never met a canopy bed I didn’t like”
That’s some old school queenery right there
....Like Mary Jane Girls... "In My House... in mY house..."! lol
and paradoxically, the cojones he has to paint a room chartreuse.
hahahahaha
LMAO!!!!

Did Wes Anderson direct this?
Damit you beat me to it.
Yes, and I love it
Notes on CAMP by Susan Sontag. C.A.M.P. initials NYC Police used for Caucasian Adult Male Prostitute, n'est-ce pas?
I was literally about to mention Wes, LOL. Well played good sir, well played.
Hahah immediately the first thing I thought of.
Finally someone who's creative with the interior design while still being respectful to the home's history.
Those old pictures of the house were gorgeous.
favorite part is the art he left on the walls in the private area. His son is so sweet and smart
Absolutely love with what he did to the place. He’s fabulous. His home is absolutely breathtaking beautiful. 💖 I love how he isn’t afraid of color.
I love old homes. They have so much charm.
Never thought i'd ever see a living space painted in neon color, green one at that, paired with soft blush pink couch.
GORGEOUS. 💚💖
so charming...luv all the color. it's a shame we really didn't get to see much of 'the house.'
These places have essence, you can see that the owners put love into every piece of decor.
Spectacular absolutely stunning inviting love the whimsical in certain areas love the advice great video thank you so much
Ohhhhh that blush pink bathroom was lovely❤️❤️❤️
Christoph is _certainly_ one well spoken, articulate young man. 🥂

So whimsical and unique... I love it!
damn the editing & background music doe
The music is a little quirky. Good content though.
Just gorgeous and so beautifully kept with honoring history- the “soul” of it, as he stated. Thank you!
Wow! Stunning home! Love that unexpected wall color! Keep up the good work with this series!
Fascinating! I love the integration between antique or original and the new or more modern without detracting from the history or antiquity.
Enjoyed this! That bold chartreuse on the walls was unexpectedly cheerful!
It's really a georgous home, seems like a lovely gentleman with his lovely son, regards from Ireland. 😊🍀🇮🇪
I have a 130 year old Victorian home here in Northern California. I love waking up to a home with character
I love this series. So much better than others like AD
I really love that shade of yellow-green, compared to similar colors that one is perfectly balanced.
Pink sofa? I'm here for that!
Chic lime? YES PLEASE!! Love it!
Just saw an article that he listed this house for sale less than two weeks after this video was released.
denicekimberly I do believe that’s the only reason anyone agrees to have these videos made. Why else would they waste their time to show off?
@@ahumanaperson and lose their privacy, too.
LOVE it when you said "you can't buy soul"! so true.

Love his color choices.

@@abbeygrantham1191 but...surrounded by all those FAB COLOURS on a Gray Gray day...how marvellous is that to wake up to & lift u'r mood!!😉
*seeing that Anna Wintour is one of his clients I understand now where she got her inspiration for the "CAMP" theme of the Met lol*
Andrew Bolton came up with the theme, not Anna Wintour
This is stunning. I adore the colour palettes
I feel like I’ve seen Jeffery on Barefoot Contessa...but this house screams “no hunny...THIS is authentic vintage!”
Yay, Wendy is back! I love this show
I love this series!! 😍🤩
2:06 gave me major Wes Anderson vibes.
I wish I could tour this house in person. Lovely.
I like every room except the chartreuse room. But I've always had an aversion to the hue.
I love this house! So beautiful!
The bathroom is awesome
I love it! It looks like a home in a Wes Anderson film.⭐️

That kitchen! That baby pink bathroom! ❤️❤️❤️
Bright and Beautiful I love fresh linens
Love old houses
I love “chic lime” gorgeous
Beautiful
Love the bathroom pink.
I'm in love with the colors!
Good video. Love the couch.
Honestly, I'm surprised from looking at this inn, how this man could be a noted, top interior decorator.
I love this, thank you so much for sharing
I thought I saw an article that said he's selling it. It's probably only, oh, what? Like $15,000,000? No biggie.
*now THIS is "camp"*
Fabulous place.
Looks like someone's old auntie lives there. Yes, he does.
Cheap, tacky comment
Love this way is filmed ❤️ Budapest vibes
Just amazing! Beyond beautiful!🌹
lol it looks like a bad flea market disaster
Gorgeous
Beautiful house

That green colour is actually pleasing! But not in a bedroom doh!
It works great in a living room/dining room, places where people gather. It is playful and upbeat. I used Benjamin Moore's Apple Green.
Me,I would rather have a home than a house.I would be afraid to sneeze in that house as it might take revenge.
😂😂😂 Take revenge? Best comment here!
Chartreuse and pink 💗 😍
i love your sofa, is it a chesterfield? the house is gorgeous!
Who needs furniture? I'd be happy just sitting on that incredible floor.
Poor folks talk.
Brutal.
VERY NICE
Wow, a homeowner who isn't afraid to use bold colors and wallpaper. How refereshing!
The Chartreuse yellow is so beautiful :) love the house

I’m curious to know how that lovely, old home is heated in the winter and cooled in summer.
Was anyone else disturbed by her pronunciation of Steuben?
"you are never going to be able to buy soul."
Is this what rich people do with their time?
It is what talented, driven people who have worked hard for all they have do with their time.
@@CatskillsGrrl ah yes, because we live in a meritocracy.
WELL SAID

You don't have to be rich to be creative with your own home, although you need other things.
Would love to see this house.
What's wrong with Chic Lime?? Anyhow, love the colour. I once worked in a hair salon this colour and people wanted it changed so badly...I was sad when they rid of it...it's was so fresh and uplifting!
The different rooms seem like they could be in a Wes Anderson film
This looks like an home tour as shot by Wes Anderson.
He’s an interior decorator, not an interior designer.
Ahdorbs kid. Love the house!
How close was this to the sale ?
Was it sold ?
That yellow is atrocious but to each their own😩
I'm in love with Jeffrey Bilhuber. That is all.
they themselves do not see the caricature,
only we on the outside can see the hyperbole and pretense
artifice projected for the camera
more wooden than the paneling in the dining room
Americana kitsch
You’re re just jealous that there is more plastic in his face than there is in your Tupperware drawer!
We on the outside... Do you mean people without creativity?
"They..." Gays or artists?
I wish I knew the name of the soft pink wall paint.
Simply Beautiful.

Im gonna steal that pink sofa
Looking nice...
helpful!
OMG what is he sitting on ?
Eeh gad!! A beautiful house turned into a fun house monstrosity!
Heaven on earth🥰
Just when I thought taste and sophistication was dead amongst Americans this man renewed my faith! He is the epitome of good taste.
I had a beautiful 4 poster, i agree ive never met a canapy bed i did not love. ☺😘
American's interior design is totally different to those european sleek design homes.
They sure don't do 'em like this anymore!
any house for me after 1940's is to new
