    I really enjoy that it’s canon that the Champion of Cyrodilli dedicated himself to the divines, and went on a pilgrimage to become devout enough to serve them. He becomes the most devout follower of the divines. About a month later he decides to be the literal incarnation of insanity, and spends the rest of his days yelling about cheese and trying to achieve self-fish stick.

      I like to assume that the coc originally came the shivering isles for one more check mark off his daedric genocide crusade and ended up being dragged into madness by the incomprehensible insanity of sheogorath’s realm it becomes a sort of ancient greek story about the folly of hubris where the coc thinks of himself as an invincible champion of the nine and because of that is completely blind to the threat the shivering isles poses beyond just demons trying to stab you

      Truly the greatest hero

    • @big_slurp4603
      @big_slurp4603 2 года назад +120

      My headcanon is that the Hero of Cyrodill was always a little bit mad, which is why his first instinct when he encountered a gate to the bloodlands was to just jump into it without a second thought. They then became the living embodiment of Pelinal (who was a bit mad himself) just because a mad prophet (voiced by the same guy as Sheo curiously...) told him so and lead a crusade to both "close shut the jaws of oblivion" and defeat Umaril.
      Because they became so used to going into oblivion gates when they finally saw Sheogoraths gate they didn't think much of it and hopped in despite seeing how the gate made all other people mad, its also worth noting the gate didn't change the hero at all which kinda supports the "he was always a bit mad" theory. The time they spent in the realm slowly influenced them more and more and after they became Sheo it took a few years before they fully transformed into Sheogorath, but I like to think that they still have the power to turn into the Pre-Sheo Hero if needs be, if only for a short time.
      It just makes sense for them to go mad if you really think about it. They have probably spent more time in realms of Oblivion than anyone else, witnessed the physical incarnation of not one but three Daedra (Dagon, Sheo, Jyggylag) and a divine (Akatosh) and witnessed the horrors of the realms of insanity and the bloodlands over extended periods of time. Feels like almost too much for one mortal to handle. We know the DB is likely corrupted just from their time spent in Moras realm so it only makes sense the same happened to the Hero of Cyrodill.
      I also love that the Hero undoubtedly proved the divinity of Talos, which shows the flaws in the Thalmors ideology, but also became the complete antithesis of Talos, in that they are a mortal that ascended to godhood but instead of becoming a divine they became a Daedra

    Here's how I'd put it: The Nerevarine saved Morrowind, The Hero of Kvatch saved Tamriel, and the last dragonborn saved the entire kalpa, so the hero of Kvatch was the most powerful in the end but the dragonborn did the most saving, but the Nerevarine could also arguably be called the most impressive because he fought alone more than the others.

      The only guy who gets it; they should rename the video "Who was the most powerful hero", not "Who is the greatest Hero". The Dragonborn definitely did the greatest deed by preventing the Kalpa from ending (Only those great spirits that know the Walkabout would have been spared). I agree though that after the shivering Isles the Hero of Kvatch is the most powerful, and the Neravarine did the most by himself.

    It is worth noting that although the Dragonborn defeated Alduin with the help of the three heroes, after that he/she learned the dragon shout which can summon the three heroes, which has become part of his ability. This means that if anyone wants to challenge the Dragonborn, he will need to be at least more powerful than Alduin, as the Dragonborn can always summon the same formation he/she had when he/she defeated Alduin.

    The Nerevarine and the Dragonborn were destined to be heroes. I feel like the Hero of Kvatch was just some guy in a cell. He had no prophecy or dragon soul to support him. Only an opportunity, the opportunity to make something of him/herself. He/she went out there with the amulet, walked into a Gate of Oblivion, wiped out hordes of Daedra, defeated a powerful Sorcerer, an Aylied King, and defeated a Daedric Prince before mantling a God of Madness
    At the end of it, the Hero of Kvatch wasn't pushed by prophecy like the Nerevarine or the Dragonborn, they took an opportunity to be a hero and that takes some balls of ebony. And then actually mantling a God?

      @macdhomhnaill7721 5 лет назад +8

      bakersmileyface The only traitor amongst the stormcloaks was Ulfric. He had ulterior motives.
      The Nords wanted religious freedom and to not be controlled/dragged off in the night by the Altmer SS and the Nazi-meri Dominion. The Cyrodillic Empire, who was supposed to protect them in exchange for them remaining part of the Empire, failed to do so and folded to the “You can’t worship Talos” thing. This effected Skyrim almost exclusively. None of the other provinces save Hammerfel really gave a shit. This made the citizens of Skyrim feel singled-out. Between that, the outlawing of the worship of their chief deity and honored ancestor, the forsworn rebellions, a growing vampire menace, tons of refugees flooding in from Morrowind when the Nords were already struggling to maintain themselves, the collapse of Winterhold, and a long string of incompetent and spineless jarls coupled with what they viewed as a spineless Emperor... the Nords of Skyrim were FED THE FUCK UP with all the bs. They decided to take matters into their own hands. They’d been forgotten about and told to suck it up while they were oppressed and refugees poured in to soak up more of their resources amidst an already failing province.
      They rallied behind Ulfric (not a good guy, but he was familiar, he was a Skyrim Nord, and he promised to give the people back their country) and rebelled in the name of honor, freedom, and a better future for their children and grandchildren.
      Your average stormcloak is not a “traitor” or “evil” or anything. The average stormcloak is a Nord who wants freedom from tyranny and oppression, to no longer be the one who feels the pinch when emperors and Dominions go around squeezing, to honor his ancestors and to make a better Skyrim for his children and grandchildren.
      There aren’t many reasons more noble than that, in my opinion.
      While the Stormcloak rebellion likely won’t end well for Skyrim, while Ulfric isn’t a good person, and while there is a bigger picture going on... it’s hard to argue “the big picture” to Nord families who are starving, lost their homes, lost loved ones, and now lost their religious freedom. They’re angry, downtrodden, and they want their lives back. That’s what makes a Stormcloak.

    • @bakersmileyface

      Well I mean they swore allegiance to the Empire. Therefore they are betraying the empire.
      So yes. That makes them traitors.
      The Empire fought hard against the elves along side the nords, fighting for their rights as well as the rights of every other nation in the Empire. They lost.
      Just because things are going bad for them at that period of time, the stormcloaks are stabbing the Empire in the back and doing their own thing, weakening the Empire further.
      These stormcloaks have no loyalty.
      If the Empire had not upheld their end of the bargain to the Nords, then I would understand. Loyalty works both ways. But no, the Empire has upheld their end and done everything they could however they unfortunately lost, but the stormcloaks betrayed them anyway.

    The fucking Dovahkiin walked into Sovengard and Aprocrypha. I forget to mention the fact that we have to kill the first and the most powerful Dovahkiin. He killed a weird vampire who wanted to shut off the sun.

      Understand the nature of Dragons. For dragons, men and mer are like ants, intelligent ants which can be enslaved. They wanted to rule over other sentient creatures as they saw them as weak because of their mortality. Hence, they made an error in judging the circumstances. Alduin was all cocky until you dragonrend him over the throat of the world and he runs away to hide in Sovengarde like a little boy. Also the dragons are arrogant and power drunk, they didn't take the dragonborn seriously in the beginning of the game. So, if you are an immortal apex predator with power rivalling the gods in the eyes of the mortals, then its natural that you would try to rule them. And most men and mer are found in Tamriel
