From 3 unique perspectives of people with at this point prolly close to a hundred thousand hours of time playing the games between them. It's pretty great
@@SexyPug tbh yea I wouldn't be surprised at all if each of them had between 25-35k hours each considering for atleast 7 years skyrim has been their full time commitment and Michael and Drew both said that before they started the channel in 2013 they each had over a few thousands hours a piece on skyrim

For Spellbreaker, i really liked how it counted as you casting a ward so ward related perks affected the shield. Like the absorbing magic from spells, for example.
When it comes to these lists i prefer to go over lore over gameplay mechanics. Skeleton key and Azuras Star definitely goes toward the top 5 because of the potent power behind it. The potential unlocking could make you the next Super soldier or mega mage while azuras star, the potency of the star is legendary. Anyone even with minute enchanting understanding can reuse it any time. When it comes to gameplay i forget i have azuras star until someone says something and i feel like that has an effect on their decision regarding the star. It's not big because we have ideas of grandeur from outside vs gameplay. Think of it from the position of anyone within Tamriel. Soul gems are powerful and can do a lot but used once. Imagine a reusable source of power. It's literally a nuclear reactor for mages of all levels
One time I glitched the game out to give me two wabajacks. I fired both at the same time at the same target. Pretty sure it was a Solitude citizen. One Wabajack turned her into gold, and the second one was a fireball, resulting in an explosion of coins scattering Solitude and lagging out the game. That was beautiful.
Would you guys consider having podcast guests in the future? Someone like AllinAll would be cool, you seem to be fans of his and you could probably have some interesting discussions on your favourite bits of lore and stuff 👍
The Rueful axe wasn’t so much just a “he used this to slay his daughter” it was more that the guy was begging and Clavicus Vile made a sick joke by giving him a “cure” for it. Also probably because he can’t cure it due to it falling under Hircine’s realm.
I've never thought of turning someone into a chicken in Skyrim and then killing them, taking their own remains to a cooking pot, turning them into a fried chicken stick and eating them. Making Wabajerkey is my new favorite thing to do in Skyrim. Thank you guys forever 💕
In the Blood of the Daedra quest, I always give the Rose of Sanguine to Martin. By far the least useful Daedric Artifact, plus, for more reasons, I like the idea of Martin recognizing the artifact he once wielded. It’s fitting, almost.
I had no idea about the Bow Of Shadows; now I feel kind of robbed that all we got in Skyrim was Nightningale Bow. It's a cool weapon, cool design, strong if you arent bothering with crafting. But a bow that makes you constantly invisible would have been way cooler
Shadowrend was my favorite sword in all of Oblivion! When I found out I missed it I backtracked to a previous save and lost 300 hours of gameplay just so I could have it going forward. Worth it.
I find it funny that Nocturnal's Skeleton Key could break the curse of the Cowl, in a way, since the curse locks away the memories and the ability to remember the wielder but with the key they should be able to unlock it.
I think I’ve got a fun series suggestion. What if y’all took turns writing the character build for each other. Like Drew and Michael write Scott’s. Michael and Scott writes Drew’s. And Drew and Scott write Michael’s. Giving reason why you chose the race and skills as well as a quick back story and concluding with what you think their decisions would be in whichever game you place them in.
Fun theory: Not only do you give Hema Mora the knowledge of the Skaal, but you give him the knowledge of an Elder Scroll as well. You give the inscribed lexicon to Septimus, who still has it on him when he gets ashed by Hema Mora.
I think because of the rarity of bows as artifacts I think the bow of shadows deserved more than to be just skipped over at the beginning but I love the list and learned so much. The masque’s backstory is amazing. With all that being said, I got the skeleton key as one
0:27 Yooo! Scott, you NAILED that intro and I my brain was like "recording?" and I got to see your face as you did it! The FM intro will never feel the same with your handsome face fused with the memory!
I wonder if Sanguine Rose would have gotten a spot on the list if it had been implemented into ESO already with the abilities that got datamined, being able to summon a storm of arrows or a healing surge that can chain between people seems a lot more interesting than just being able to summon a Dremora.
But they actually are Gods, even more Godly Then The Aedra that dont even say anything to The Mortals Molag Bal is Even Called God of Schemes by many And The Daedra in War with each other for Control of The "Grand Schemes of The Universe" makes them more Godly Aedra would be only focused on "Reality" of Mortals in Mundus/ Nirn, but The Daedra would be involved in all The universe
My personal top 10: 1. Black Books 2. Azura's Star 3. Dawnbreaker 4. Ring of Khajiti 5. Skeleton Key 6. Moon and Star (arguable a dwemer artifact) 7. Grey Cowl of Nocturnal 8. Ebony Blade 9. Umbra 10. Mehrune's Razor
If I had to make some headcanon I would say her soulgem has no limitations in the first place cuz she doesnt abide by ideal masters rules, they are only about the power level of a demiprince
I’d have to say that my favorite Daedric artifact (if you could really call it that) is the Staff of Sheogorath from the Shivering Isles dlc. From what I could tell from the story, the staff was the true power behind the Mad God and what finalized the mantling process. That makes it the only Daedric artifact that technically has the power to make you into a Daedric Prince, and I think that’s just neat.
Going back to the skeleton key I feel that's how kahjit were forcibly evolved into the original cat demons that topal the pilot saw. Like the primordial ooze made solid. Something that just molds what it touches to bend to will. Like if polymorph could morph locks into being unlocked. Or to polymorph ones genome to be either a more successful bard or develop biological adaptations like gills
My list of 10 best Daedric Artifacts in order of 1-10 is: Azura's Star, Mace of Molag Bal, Sanguine's Rose, Dawnbreaker, Volundrung, Wabbajack, Ogmha Infinium, Masque of Clavicus Vile, Savior's Hide, Umbra.
Top Ten lists are all highly personal! This is one of the discussions I have always wanted to see, and your format and technique are impeccable and I would grade you A+ for everything taken together, and this discussion is an epic one, if not the MOST EPIC DISCUSSION POSSIBLE for Elder Scrolls Lovers. My only peeve is that you discounted the Wabbajack because you are bored with it(?) or you cannot make it do what you want(?) or the effects are too random(?) The Wabbajack has lore, and books and crazy people wanting to be turned, and has devastating and hilarious game effects, in Skyrim, at least. Wabbajack is EASILY top 10 for ME. Compare that to your number 10. Again. And also Spellbreaker and Volendrung are not, actually, Daedric, since they were made by the Dwemer and 'claimed' by lesser Daedric princes, so, while they are awesome and powerful, they specifically don't qualify, just like Auriel's Bow and Shield do not qualify, in my opinion.
Loved watching this episode of the podcast two years later. I've come around to Drew's takes mostly. My top five would probably be: 1. Mysterium Xarxes 2. Oghma Infinium 3. Black Books 4. Mehrunes Razor 5. Skeleton Key What I've learned from myself is that books are cool, and although the Clavicus Vile pieces have great stories, as purely artifacts these metaphysical/potential-based/philosophical ones are sick. You could lump those top three altogether if you like though.
My top five: 1. Black Books (love mysterious metaphysical tidbits, and the mystery of why they have three lines from the Eye of Magnus in them (three lines that are scattered all across Apocrypha, as well)) 2. Mysterium Xarxes (because the commentaries are extremely fascinating and so make me want to read the original; what tidbits we have are great, and remind me of Kirkbride's out of game vision of Dagon, which I love) 3. Dawnbreaker (it just fits Meridia so well, and she herself fascinates me; her story is such a dichotomy for a Deadric prince) 4. Ebony Blade (the potential for tragedy is just too good, plus the game mechanics actually support the lore. The roleplay potential is wonderful) 5. Saviour's Hide (the story is just cool, and, again, it fits Hircine so well) I can't decide on the rest. Umbra is high on the list, though.
What I love about Elder scrolls is you can make your own artifacts ( enchanting weapons and armour (etc) and give it a cool name) instead of character builds have enchanting builds creating your own special artifacts!
Generally for artifacts to be really interesting to me they have to have some greater contextualization than a specific task they were designed to do. The skeleton key fits this bill amazingly because it has the power to unlock, and obviously has more metaphysical applications. Drew mentioned Mehrunes Razor having additional applications as well. Even if the gameplay doesn't reflect it, I find them infinitely more interesting to think about than Dawnbreaker or Spellbreaker for example.
Umbra has to be near the #1 spot. People forget that you don't have to turn the sword over to Clavicus. Its the same with the Rueful Axe. i never take his mask, i found a mod that improves the axe and makes it useful ingame. Plus Umbra is added back into Skyrim via the Legacy of the Dragonborn mod.
I was genuinely bummed about Azura's star being conceded, I'd think it would get top 10 on being so widespread and useful alone. Not to mention Azura is awesome and other lore reasons.
1.2.Umbra or the gray cowl (both favs) 3. Skull of Corruption 4. Azura's Star 5. Masq of Clavicus 6. Spell Breaker 7. Ebony Blade 8. Black Books (lovecraftian feels) 9. Sanguine Rose (for the visuals) 10. Skeleton Key (cause nocturnal is awesome) or dawnbreaker (cause its just so different from other daedric artifacts. Skull of Corruption is so sick, was sad to see it not make the list but was a fun video x j
Pre Video my list would be this. I dont know if Feyfolken is a real artifact or made up my Jarth, but I actually really really love the concept of a Daedric artifact quill and its effects in the book, so much to put it on my top ten list ahahaha. I would *LOVE* it to appear in TES6 as one of Clavicus Viles artifacts. Like in Oblivion and Skyrim you are given a choice between the Masque and Umbra, and The Masque and the Rueful axe, I would love a choice between the piece of armour of the Masque or a more unassuming option of the quill which perhaps could just give a passive buff when in your inventory like the Skeleton Key did in Oblivion. 10:Spellbreaker 9:Ebony Blade 8:The Skeleton Key 7:Mehrunes Razor 6:Fey Folken 5:Oghma Infinium 4:Umbra 3:The Black Books 2:The Mysterium Xarxes 1:Gray Cowl of Nocturnal Evidently I prefer none combat Artifacts. Not that I dont like the combat ones, its pretty dope to be decked out in the Ebony Mail, have the Masque of Clavicus Vile and be wielding Dawnbreaker and Spellbreaker, but theres just something so interesting to me about the less assuming daedric artifacts that turn out to be just as powerful. (on that not I think a pair of Daedric artifact boots and Gauntlets are needed in TES6 so I can run a full Daedric prince set)
My honorable mentons for Daedric Artifacts: Ring of Hircine, The Black Books, The Gray Cowl, Mysterium Xarxes, Ring of Kajhiit, Ring of Namira, Volundrung, Auriel's Bow, Savior's Hide, Masque of Clavicus Vile Necromancer's Amulet. That is about all I can think of for now.
Hey guys I know you guys aren’t particularly fond of the eso lore... The best artifact is Ysgramor's Soup Spoon. Change my mind.
Just some Guy bro, it’s a spoon that’s actually a fork! It would make daedra crap themselves. It would drive Sheogorath madder than what he already is! Thus, it’s more powerful than any daedra artifact lol

Honestly
Something, something, KINMUNE
Auriel's bow and sword are the only ones I know.
@Mark there's the Amulet of Kings, the Brush of Truepaint is an artifact of Dibella too.
Dawnbreaker is definetely missing for me. One of the coolest weapons and I often use it as a gateway for my characters to go from good to evil.
Hey Fudgemuppet, I had a dream where I met you guys in person. Honestly you guys are like celebrities to me. Keep up the good work 👍

The Rueful axe wasn’t so much just a “he used this to slay his daughter” it was more that the guy was begging and Clavicus Vile made a sick joke by giving him a “cure” for it. Also probably because he can’t cure it due to it falling under Hircine’s realm.

Considering TESL collapsed, due to poor management by Bethesda, I'm glad the card art can live on in your videos.
Not sure what happened to that game, it's still on the Google Play Store, but the card art is indeed very good.

Aedra would be only focused on "Reality" of Mortals in Mundus/ Nirn, but The Daedra would be involved in all The universe

Even if the gameplay doesn't reflect it, I find them infinitely more interesting to think about than Dawnbreaker or Spellbreaker for example.
Awww... Savior's Hide kicked out in under 10 minutes... Always been a fan of that one, since Morrowind.
I hate how ugly it is in skyrim
Sitting in an airport so this is much appreciated!
Man I feel for you, airport's are normally crappy, let alone with the covid, enjoy my man
I never thought I'd see something like a podcast of what has to be described as elder scrolls historians and scholars.
We really need Umbra back in Elder Scrolls 6
I was watching this like, “Man I hope the mace of Molag Bal makes it”… I should’ve known better 😆
The rose should summon an aspect of Sanguine thats talks and comments on things kinda like the spectral Lucian
I was genuinely bummed about Azura's star being conceded, I'd think it would get top 10 on being so widespread and useful alone. Not to mention Azura is awesome and other lore reasons.
I'm sold on the list! Good job picking those out, definitely not an easy top 10 to make.
1.2.Umbra or the gray cowl (both favs)
3. Skull of Corruption
4. Azura's Star
5. Masq of Clavicus
6. Spell Breaker
7. Ebony Blade
8. Black Books (lovecraftian feels)
9. Sanguine Rose (for the visuals)
10. Skeleton Key (cause nocturnal is awesome) or dawnbreaker (cause its just so different from other daedric artifacts.
Skull of Corruption is so sick, was sad to see it not make the list but was a fun video x j
Sometimes i just make a build based around Dawnbreakers exploding effect, and i thing its telling.
yay another podcast thank you so much
Listing favourite characters (excluding gods and Daedra princes) would be fun. Maybe favourite factions too.
My favorites are the gray cowl, skeleton key, and mysterious xarxes
59:01 Im not sure if Michael is attempting to speak Sign Language or do some Naruto shit.
10:Spellbreaker
9:Ebony Blade
8:The Skeleton Key
7:Mehrunes Razor
6:Fey Folken
5:Oghma Infinium
4:Umbra
3:The Black Books
2:The Mysterium Xarxes
1:Gray Cowl of Nocturnal
Evidently I prefer none combat Artifacts.
Remember to post it on Spotify and Apple my dudes
The Wabajack is so weak in Skyrim. Surprised that there are no mods that make it something that the Mad God would find amusing.
as someone who has only played skyrim, i like the wabbajack, ebony mail, masque of clavy, merunes razor, and volendrung
Hey guys I know you guys aren’t particularly fond of the eso lore... BUT would a video (could be a podcast or in the same type of format) theorizing on who would win the three banners war be at all possible??? With all the different alliances and races in those alliances and there different technologies and strengths and weakness that sort of thing!
